Chapter 913: Chapter 913: I Thought of Something Happy
That night, the security captain kept watch with a man wearing a short-sleeved shirt and a woman dressed in a flight attendant’s uniform.
The three chatted about some not-so-decent topics; in this brutal survival game, only dirty jokes could offer some comfort.
Ever since the tall fat man lost his life that night, everyone had been more vigilant. Every night, nine people took turns to keep watch, with three people per shift, ensuring that both men and women were involved.
During the day, when there was nothing to do, Luan Xing would teach everyone some combat skills.
To say those skills could train someone to a professional soldier’s level is certainly an exaggeration.
But at least now, when faced with danger, these people wouldn’t just scream loudly.
Wen Wen lay on the grass bed, idly shaking his crossed legs.
He’s already somewhat regretting coming to this event, never having a day to enjoy with Feng Ruixing, that rich dog, and yet ending up here suffering with these people.
Wasn’t it better to wait outside obediently like Feng Ruixing and them?
Were spicy crayfish and copper pot hotpot not satisfying enough?
Wasn’t capturing a monster for experimental study more enticing?
As Wen Wen considered whether to find a way to end it all, his eyebrow raised, and a cruel smile appeared on his face.
"Hehehe, hahaha, something interesting is about to happen."
"What are you laughing at again?"
Luan Xing immediately became alert, staring intently at Wen Wen, with a look in his eyes that seemed murderous. Ever since he saw Wen Wen’s strange smile that one day, he’s been very wary of him.
"Hmm, did I laugh out loud... Sorry about that, I thought of something happy. By the time, the pigs I raise should soon give birth," Wen Wen waved his hand, nonchalantly speaking to Luan Xing.
Luan Xing suddenly sprang from the grass bed, directly crossing over two people to reach Wen Wen, grabbing his neck and forcefully pinning him against the wooden house, causing the whole house to shake violently.
Everyone awoke, looking at Wen Wen and Luan Xing with uncertainty. They all knew Luan Xing disliked Wen Wen, but since Luan Xing was the leader of the eighteen here, they ignored his intentional bullying.
Geng Xingshu frowned; he felt Luan Xing’s emotions had become increasingly extreme over the past few days.
"Luan Xing, release him. We can only survive if we stand together, don’t let small conflicts..."
Geng Xingshu attempted to lower Luan Xing’s hand, but Luan Xing grabbed Geng Xingshu’s wrist with one hand and threw him aside.
"It’s not a small conflict; this guy is suspicious. I suspect he’s in league with the masked man!"
Luan Xing intensified his grip. As a squad leader in the armed division, Luan Xing qualifies as an elite among ordinary humans, able to defeat ten moderately trained men barehanded with ease, boasting combat power akin to Master Ye level.
According to Sanctuary’s internal power rankings, two geese equal one dog, two dogs equal one person, and Master Ye level combat power is at least equivalent to ten people!
Many superpower users lacking killing abilities might not be able to beat Luan Xing, so most people present, aside from Wen Wen and the sullen short man Li Wei, feared Luan Xing somewhat.
Wen Wen’s eyes darted cunningly. By acting innocent now, he could deepen the rift between Luan Xing and the others, thereby aggravating their conflicts and revealing their truest reactions.
But Wen Wen didn’t want to play like this; he was a bit tired of hanging around here.
Why mix with them? Transforming into a terrifying monster to menace these folks wouldn’t better reveal their true thoughts?
So Wen Wen began grotesquely laughing, the bizarre laugh sending shivers down everyone’s spine, coupled with an expression contorted beyond human likeness.
"See, I told you he was trouble."
Luan Xing punched Wen Wen in the eye socket, demanding harshly: "Answer, what is this place? Who kidnapped us? What is your motive? How do we get out of here?"
"Hehe, you’re asking too much... But ironically, I know all those answers."
Another dagger pressed against Wen Wen’s temple; it was the sullen short guy Li Wei: "If you know, spill it."
Wen Wen’s neck suddenly rotated one-hundred-and-eighty degrees toward the window, while his left arm similarly bent inhumanely, pointing outside.
"I’m not withholding anything from you, but... I think your biggest problem right now isn’t me."
Everyone was petrified by Wen Wen’s movements, but before they could react, the passage on the eastern side barred by sharp wooden stakes eerily collapsed open.
The earth began to upheave slowly, as if something from underground was heading this way.
Luan Xing’s expression drastically changed: "Not good, something’s coming in—and it’s worse than grizzlies or Siberian tigers..."
"Li Xingyang, take Zhao Xuelu and Huang Xu, bind this guy and keep a close watch. He’s our hope; if we can learn the way out from his mouth, we’ll all be rescued."
After speaking, others exited the house, tensely monitoring the mound of earth, with various weapons at the ready.
But everyone knew the intruder this time was no ordinary threat, and sacrifices were likely.
These days, they hadn’t been idle; they understood some mechanisms and traps for dealing with large ferocious beasts. But nobody had anticipated the danger coming from underground.
The earth’s shifting gradually diminished, movement becoming subtle, only barely detectable through faint tremors on the ground, indicating where the subterranean thing might be lurking.
Yet, the entity remained beneath, negotiating with everyone, not intending to emerge just yet.
Inside the room, Wen Wen was tightly bound, with Li Xingyang holding a loaded crossbow to Wen Wen’s chest, and Huang Xu wielding a large machete, ready to strike Wen Wen’s head.
Their disbelief over Wen Wen’s recent inhuman gestures gripped them all, inducing hesitation now.
"Just now, you said you wouldn’t mind answering our questions, was that true?" Li Xingyang swallowed, cautiously asking Wen Wen.
The other two widened their eyes, their expressions taut. If Wen Wen’s previous claim was true, it would mean he might be one of the kidnappers, possibly leading to escape.
"Of course it was false. I wouldn’t tell them, but I might share some info with you three," Wen Wen said matter-of-factly.
Zhao Xuelu trembled, asking: "Then, why did you kidnap us?"
Wen Wen chuckled: "Zhao Xuelu, you’re Zhao Hongmin’s daughter, and Zhao Hongmin is very important to me, so I invited you here."
"Huang Xu, you deserve to be shot ten times, but here you haven’t showed a single evil thought, which satisfies me."
"As for Li Xingyang... you, hmm... sorry, you were picked randomly, thrown here without any reason."
