Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 843: Wen Li’s Confidence
Chapter 843: Chapter 843: Wen Li’s Confidence
Since Wen Li dared to openly reside in the cave of Heavenly Pillar Peak, he probably has a high chance of escaping the encirclement by the Hunter Association.
However, the other party probably doesn’t know that after Xue Jiuyi was captured, he swiftly sold him out completely, so the success rate of this attack is still quite high.
Once everyone had arrived, the meeting began immediately.
Wen Wen had attended many such meetings before, with the theme centered on how to effectively attack Heavenly Pillar Peak.
First, before the official action, the Association would conduct a carpet bombardment in the direction of Heavenly Pillar Peak.
Although many high-tech weapons cannot be used within the Dim Domain, the fact that firearms and bombs can be used means that some of the less advanced weapons can be used.
Therefore, during this period, the Hunter Association transported in a batch of rocket and grenade launchers.
The ammunition was all custom-made, and the quantity was more than sufficient to make the ground in the target area sink several meters.
After the bombardment ends, the team would launch an attack on the cave from three directions.
The main direction would be handled by battle experts Zhao Yong and Eightfold, the left side by Little Ming Wang and Master Brababa, and the right side by Wen Wen and Wu Liugen.
Sun Shanxing himself planned to attack the enemy command center as soon as the battle started, pursuing Wen Li wherever he fled.
The Association was not attempting to besiege the direction of Heavenly Pillar Peak for the first time, so they were very familiar with the terrain here. If Wen Li wanted to escape, he would need to choose one out of these three directions.
As long as he made a choice, he would inevitably encounter at least two True-order Masters, who needed only to delay Wen Li for a while, allowing several other True-order Masters to arrive.
Each team was also assigned an oddly-shaped containment item.
These three containment items were all guillotines, but with different patterns on them, namely dragon head, tiger head, and dog head.
The dog-headed guillotine was assigned to Wu Liugen.
The three guillotines easily reminded people of an official once known as ’Honorable Qingtian’ in the history of the Capital.
However, the manufacturing date under the guillotine bases indicated that these items were entirely modern products and not crafted too meticulously.
The process of acquiring abilities from these three items was also ridiculous. Some lunatic who imagined himself to be ’Honorable Qingtian’ escaped from a mental hospital and custom-made three guillotines in some iron factory.
This Qingtian then abducted:
’Royal Family’—descendants of the royal house, who became commoners after the fall of the feudal empire of the Capital, those who even needed to buy tickets to enter their ancestral homes.
’Corrupt Officials’—members of the Federation’s contamination control group, whether corrupt or not isn’t known, but at least they dealt with ’contamination.’
’Outlaws’—a petty thief who stole car batteries.
After performing a scene, this lunatic executed these three with the guillotines. Before he could relish the thrill again, he was caught by the local precinct.
But the three guillotines he left behind gained miraculous abilities thereafter, with the dragon, tiger, and dog on them coming to life every night to behead the guilty nearby.
They sought out guilty ones in the same way as that ’Honorable Qingtian,’ which primarily resulted in the deaths of innocents under the blade.
After noticing these three guillotines, the Hunter Association stopped the killings by tying red ropes on the beast heads of these containment items.
Later, the Hunter Association discovered another characteristic of these three guillotines.
That is, if you were beheaded by these guillotines, you would die.
This sounds redundant, but superpower users or monsters who wouldn’t die from being decapitated are actually quite common.
So, these three guillotines became the best weapons for the Hunter Association against undead creatures. Even within the Dim Domain, monsters slain by these guillotines would not resurrect.
The action time was set for noon, just an hour later, when the monsters would be at their most languid, making the attack much more effective.
Additionally, even if this assault failed to capture Wen Li, it would still create a huge crisis for those undead.
...
At twelve forty-five, a monster with only one eye on its head knelt before Wen Li and said.
"Great Crimson Overlord, the Heavenly Pillar Peak has been surrounded by superpower users."
This monster had no special abilities, just an illogical level of good eyesight, capable of seeing footprints on the moon from the ground as long as no large solid objects were in between.
So, overlooking from Heavenly Pillar Peak, he naturally saw the Demon Hunters assembling, preparing to encircle the peak.
"Is that person here too?"
Wen Li took out a simple sketch he had drawn based on the vague memories sent back before Xue Jiuyi and Tailor Craftsman were captured.
The eye-monster went out for another look, then nodded to Wen Li.
Wen Li laughed arrogantly, not worried at all that the place had been targeted by the Hunter Association, caring only about Wen Wen who was close at hand.
"Come on, come on..."
"Since you’re here, it means I’ve won!"
No one knew, that long before returning to this world, Wen Li had never exerted his full strength.
No one knew that, during his rampant slaughter at the Death Omen Star, Wen Li had already completed all the accumulation needed before becoming Catastrophe Level.
Moreover, no one knew that the Heavenly God Yogma valued Wen Li more than outsiders imagined, so Wen Li had a trump card in hand capable of deciding the outcome.
To others, Wen Li seemed to be arranging his ascendancy to godhood. But in truth, upon returning to the real world, Wen Li had only one goal—to kill or devour Wen Wen!
As for everything else he did, it was merely to mislead, to reduce his threat level within a reasonable range, ensuring no Catastrophe Level would interfere, coaxing Wen Wen to engage him without suspecting any clever disguise.
Thus, in Wen Li’s eyes, he already had victory in his grasp.
...
At 11:50, all gun barrels were aimed at the Heavenly Pillar Peak.
Due to the limited space inside the cave, most defensive monsters were outside, within range of the artillery fire.
The monsters here were far more numerous than those in the Barren Forest and less densely distributed, and even using explosions like those of Chu Wei might not cause much damage to the monsters.
But the bombardment by the Hunter Association was not comparable to Chu Wei’s explosives, therefore the artillery could inflict significant effective damage.
Just a few seconds before the cannons roared, Illiyat received a command from Wen Wen, sighed, and then a massive red moon appeared over Heavenly Pillar Peak.
This red moon was not the Death Omen Star but was Illiyat’s Cataclysmic Trait. Under the red moon, the strength of all lifeforms except the Blood Clan would be halved!
This was equivalent to Illiyat doubling the power of the artillery fire!
