Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 791: The Mirror Cube
Chapter 791: Chapter 791: The Mirror Cube
The reality was just as Wen Wen had thought: after he left, Cai Wenshang led the others, kneeling on the ground and loudly apologizing, and the rest followed suit, imitating Cai Wenshang’s action, and soon the entire square echoed all kinds of apologies.
There were those that had profound realizations, those that belittled themselves, and those that seemed to have no other choice; in any case, it was quite a spectacle.
Ning Zhewan, standing on the platform above, hooked a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, for he no longer had the strength to do anything else.
The faces on his body, one after another, emitted a fluorescent glow, then disappeared from Ning Zhewan’s body with a smile.
They no longer had any regrets, and Ning Zhewan’s body also gradually returned to normal.
Those standing below the platform, the voters, seemed to let go of some burdens in their hearts, making their apologies sound even more natural.
When it was all over, people looked up to find that the gigantic monster on the stage had vanished, leaving behind only a body with a smiling face.
Guided by the Supporters, the people left the square, to be quarantined for several days.
Once it was confirmed that there were no issues, their memories related to the superpower user would be erased, and they would be sent back home, to contribute to the fight against cyberbullying.
After everyone had left, Wen Wen appeared on the platform again; the black energy transformed into a giant hand, picking up Ning Zhewan’s body and bringing it to a beautiful location to be buried beneath the Great Oak Tree.
After all the resentment on Ning Zhewan had dissipated, during those brief minutes, Wen Wen actually had the power to save him.
But Wen Wen took no action, just watching his soul slowly vanish.
Because perhaps for Ning Zhewan, this was the best fate.
...
Tao Qingqing stretched and returned to the hotel in Shenchuan City that Wen Wen had booked, noticing that Wen Wen’s room door was open. Wen Wen sat in a rocking chair, staring vacantly at the ceiling, slowly swaying his body.
This surprised Tao Qingqing, because although Wen Wen often behaved like a scoundrel, like a tyrant’s son, he rarely had moments where he zoned out and did nothing.
Wen Wen’s schedule was actually quite orderly: when there was nothing to do, it was exercise time; when it was time to rest, he would find people to massage his back and legs; and when it was time to cause trouble, he would find people to wreak havoc.
This state of doing nothing was a complete waste of time to him.
Now as he presented himself in such a manner, it was obvious he had something on his mind, but Tao Qingqing didn’t try to console him, as that would only result in Wen Wen’s scathing sarcasm.
In terms of nastiness, Tao Qingqing had never seen anyone who could beat Wen Wen.
It was while waiting for Ning Zhewan’s soul to fade away that Wen Wen realized this case had a greater impact on him than he had thought.
He originally just wanted to use this case to pass the time, but unexpectedly, he was indeed touched by it.
Of all the superpower cases Wen Wen had dealt with, this was the only one that didn’t revolve around force and conspiracies but rather was resolved by seeking forgiveness through apologies from the perpetrators, which made this case carry significant weight in Wen Wen’s heart.
The experiences of Ning Zhewan, the love of Xia Weiyi, and the personal grievances of every resentful spirit, all mixed together, complicated Wen Wen’s feelings.
He couldn’t help but ponder what kind of creatures humans really are, including himself, as if all of humanity were an amalgamation of contradictions.
Some live like saints, others more monstrous than monsters, some disdain feelings, while some will sacrifice their lives for another.
Are humans born kind, or are they born evil?
Or perhaps, does human nature exist in a gray area between good and evil?
No... that might be completely incorrect.
If Lofvis hadn’t come along to make trouble, this superpower incident would have been a perfect case of resolution without the use of force, potentially giving Wen Wen much to ponder.
"Lofvis is truly a shit-stirrer, I heard that in Sakura District the toilets automatically flush water to wash your butt, maybe I should inscribe the corresponding constant runes on the Rune Book and bury them in the toilet..."
The moment his thoughts derailed, Wen Wen couldn’t help but laugh at himself: "Why am I thinking about these things? I’m not one of those muscle-brained philosophers, I might as well spend the time thinking about what to have for dinner."
Then, Wen Wen yelled out like a giant baby, "Hey, Tao Qingqing, my feet are itchy, come over and rub them for me."
"And while you’re at it, bring my superpower nail clippers, I need to trim my toenails. The clippings can go to the Three Cubs..."
In another room watching a time-traveling palace drama, Tao Qingqing rolled her eyes, paused the show, and got up to walk to Wen Wen’s room, internally grumbling non-stop.
If all young people were like Wen Wen, perhaps the world deserves to end.
...
Within a world composed entirely of silver-white, an enormous Magic Cube stood tall.
This Magic Cube was in constant rotation, the position of each of its individual cubes indecipherable.
The Cube itself was silver-white, perfectly matching the world around it, but across each face of it ran two intersecting black lines.
Those were the patterns of Black Cross!
And this was the Mirror Labyrinth that Wen Wen had obtained when he captured the Mirror Nightmare!
Magic Mirror Gidro stood at the very top of the Cube, gazing out at this vast and mysterious labyrinth, his heart swelling with a sense of accomplishment.
After a lengthy reconstruction, he had finally restored this once severely damaged labyrinth to its normal state.
Moreover, he had modified the internal rotation mechanism of the Cube, based on Wen Wen’s experience from when he stormed through it.
Originally, each layer of the Magic Cube was filled with rooms, so no matter how it rotated, the block rooms on each layer could only stay within that layer.
But now, he had left several gaps in each layer, which allowed the innermost rooms to move to the outer layer, and the rooms from the outer layer could also appear in the innermost layer.
Incidents like the one where Wen Wen blasted his way to the core area would be nearly impossible to happen again.
He had also reinforced the walls of the Cube, more than doubling their strength compared to before.
Besides, he had captured many Guardians of the Mirror from the outside, substantially increasing the Cube’s durability.
He believed that when he handed this giant Magic Cube over to Wen Wen, Wen Wen would be extremely pleased and then keep him by his side.
No one understood better than Gidro what a colossal entity the Catastrophe Containment Facility was.
And Wen Wen was the master of the Sanctuary, so as long as he continued to be Wen Wen’s loyal lapdog, he could become the brightest star in the Magic Mirror Realm!
In fact, had he not been so decisive in his flattering initially, he would not have had the opportunity to absorb the powers of the Mirror Nightmare.
So having tasted the sweetness of success, he would flatter with even more ardor in the future, striving to be a dedicated sycophant.
Thus, he used the Sanctuary to send a message to Wen Wen, informing him that preparations here were complete and that Wen Wen could put the Mirror Labyrinth into use at any time.
Afterwards, he stood at the very top of the Cube, prideful and waiting for Wen Wen’s summons.
