Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 761 - 751
Chapter 761: 751
The Cicada Ancestor’s ten enormous wings suddenly beat furiously, emitting intense white light from every crevice of its body. These beams of white light, like blasts from energy cannons, annihilated everything in their paths.
Xun Ying and Maya Mi, who had been watching the spectacle from the sidelines, were both greeted by several of these light columns, which sent them flying hundreds of meters away.
Afterwards, with a powerful kick from its robust hind legs, the Cicada Ancestor instantly charged to Maya Mi’s side and smashed her body in two.
Xun Ying gripped his sword, ready to dive into the fray, but Charlie blocked him.
Charlie could no longer allow Xun Ying to attack the Cicada Ancestor, not because he feared Xun Ying would kill it, but because he feared the unabated ferocity of the Cicada Ancestor might seriously injure Xun Ying.
Although he planned to use the Cicada Ancestor to seize the power held by the Hunters Association, this was something he intended to achieve gradually. Rushing headfirst into a deadly feud with the Hunters Association would only lead to them bashing his "dog brains" out.
"Mr. Xun, that cicada is now our church’s guardian Holy Beast. Please let it deal with the Fallen Angel. Even if you don’t trust this guardian Holy Beast, isn’t it enjoyable to watch these two fierce creatures tear into each other?"
Xun Ying’s eyes narrowed slightly, and in the end, he chose not to continue the assault. He didn’t want to openly break with the Glory Church then and there.
The torn Maya Mi, now driven by her ferocity, wrapped her scattered body around the Cicada Ancestor’s form, immobilizing it for the moment.
This state inflicted colossal damage on Maya Mi every second. If the Cicada Ancestor simply dragged it out, Maya Mi would perish by her own hand. But this was her only chance.
"It’s your turn to act!"
Wen Wen, who had been stealthily observing the battle from a distance, hesitated for a moment, but eventually took a deep breath and pulled out a heart-decorated longbow and a black feathered arrow.
The bow was the Bow of Gestation, a containment item of True Order Rank.
And that arrow... was the one and only arrow, forged by Maya Mi, who poured one-fifth of her strength into it!
The arrival of Charlie had added some uncertainty to Wen Wen’s otherwise flawless plan, but Wen Wen was reluctant to let go of this rare opportunity, so he decided to take action.
He first donned three layers of matryoshka, making his entire body appear larger, popped a panacea in his mouth, and then entered the Imaginary Space, rendering his body intangible.
Finally, he activated his teleportation ability and appeared directly behind the Cicada Ancestor. Drawing his longbow, he aimed at the large bloody hole that now marred its tail. All he needed to do was shoot the arrow into the Cicada Ancestor’s tail, and his task would be complete.
The Cicada Ancestor, entangled by Maya Mi, could not attend to its own tail, but Charlie was different. Upon seeing Wen Wen, he hummed lightly and fired a beam of white light at him.
But just as the white light flew towards its target, it was scattered by a slash of sword light. Xun Ying wore a smile similar to Charlie’s:
"I think your point makes a lot of sense. It’s quite interesting to watch them fight to the death."
Without Charlie’s interference, Wen Wen was able to draw his bow and shoot without incident. The black arrow flew straight into the gaping wound at the tail of the Cicada Ancestor.
Immediately afterwards, he activated a spatial marker he’d set earlier and teleported more than ten kilometers away in succession. After stopping, Wen Wen panted heavily. He knew that the slightest slip would have been the end of him at Charlie’s hands.
Wen Wen then looked at the longbow in his hand with a slight pang of regret.
Merely firing that one arrow had produced several cracks on the Bow of Gestation, which could have been used indefinitely. He figured it only had a few more shots left in it now.
However, if his plans succeeded, it would all be worth it. The arrow was shot, and the rest was now up to Maya Mi.
The Cicada Ancestor, constricted by Maya Mi, stiffened suddenly. Its tail violently beat against the sea surface, and the intense shockwaves destroyed everything within a kilometer of its tail, striking repeatedly without cease.
Who shot the arrow just now?
What’s going on?
What’s happening?
Why are you staring at your own tail like that, huh?
If Wen Wen were in the position of the Cicada Ancestor, he would probably be driven mad with rage too. After just having been hit by a ferocious millennium deathblow and injured by a sneak attack, even a saint wouldn’t be able to tolerate such indignity.
Maya Mi, whose body clung to the top of the Cicada Ancestor’s head, noticed the aura of the specially modified arrow, and her face brightened with joy.
Now, the overall situation was settled!
Her body suddenly turned into towering black mist and then dissipated into the air.
The enraged Cicada Ancestor paused abruptly, its opponent had vanished.
Charlie and Xun Ying also didn’t understand what had happened. As Catastrophe-Level Experts, they could tell that Maya Mi hadn’t used any method to escape, but had literally disappeared into thin air.
Her qi had also vanished; if Maya Mi had been defeated in this state, she could be declared dead.
But since Maya Mi had disappeared on her own, the situation became utterly perplexing.
The Cicada Ancestor was still searching for Maya Mi’s body when suddenly it felt an intense pain in its abdomen, as if something was gestating inside it.
Then, to its astonishment, it discovered that it was pregnant!
But this was absolutely impossible; as a being more powerful than the average Catastrophe-Level creature, it could decide when to get pregnant based on its will, and sudden pregnancy was out of the question.
What the Cicada Ancestor didn’t know was that Maya Mi had housed one-fifth of her strength within one arrow.
As long as this arrow succeeded in impregnating the Cicada Ancestor, then she would transfer directly into the location of that one-fifth of strength, becoming the fetus nurtured by the Cicada Ancestor!
In such a situation, the Cicada Ancestor wouldn’t possibly let the being it was carrying come to term, so it immediately used its internal strength, attempting to destroy that thing, or in other words, to abort it autonomously.
But when it began to try, it realized that the child it was carrying seemed much more powerful than imagined. The child already possessed Catastrophe-Level strength in the womb, making a simple abortion completely impossible.
Giving birth to a strong child was something that should have made the Cicada Ancestor happy, but a child with Catastrophe-Level strength in the womb—how powerful would it be after birth, and would it drain the Cicada Ancestor completely to provide the nutrients it needed for birth?
Moreover, why did the shape of this child seem a bit off?
Faint black mist emerged within the Cicada Ancestor’s body, which startled the Cicada Ancestor when it saw it.
Now, it understood why it suddenly became pregnant and why the unborn child was so powerful!
What was in its stomach was the very same Pervasive Angel, Maya Mi, with whom it had just battled!
Being transformed into a Creature of Light only enraged but did not terrify the Cicada Ancestor, as it merely meant switching sides.
But after discovering the being in its womb was Maya Mi, the Cicada Ancestor was suddenly stricken with panic. Apart from the time it was ambushed by an Archangel, this was the closest it had ever come to death!
If it wanted to destroy the Pervasive Angel inside itself, the energy required would also destroy the Cicada Ancestor.
If it allowed the Pervasive Angel to grow, it would be drained dry, and even after the Pervasive Angel was born, it would still be killed!
