Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 755 - 745: Witness
Chapter 755: Chapter 745: Witness
Small creatures like cats and dogs, no matter how much they are strengthened, have a limit, and no matter how large their size, they are not to be feared.
But those affected by this black mist are definitely not just cats and dogs.
Humans, monsters, superpower users...
They are all within the range of this mist!
The entrance to the museum in Xihong City houses a winged gargoyle, which had stood there peacefully for a century.
Nobody knew that it was actually a gargoyle.
The fierce appearance of gargoyles makes many people think they are evil monsters, but in fact, they do not distinguish between good and evil.
They usually appear outside a certain place or around some treasure; it doesn’t matter what the object is, they just like the feeling of protecting something.
As for what that something is, it doesn’t matter to them.
For this reason, they could squat in one place, motionless for hundreds of years.
As the black mist spread, the gargoyle did not mind, but when black patterns began to spread over its body, it realized that something was wrong.
Suddenly, it transformed from a stone statue into a ferocious monster, rampaging around but unable to shake off the black patterns on its body.
So it shot up into the sky, trying to escape the range of the black mist, but just as it had reached mid-air, it fell down, smashing a newspaper stall.
When it got up, black patterns had covered its entire body, and its size had also increased.
Afterward, the gargoyle flapped its wings and flew off in one direction, now with only one thought in mind, which was to conquer everything for the great Pervasive Angel!
There were many monsters in Xihong City with the same idea, and even before Maya Mi was fully awakened, it nourished countless little monsters, which were now all put to use.
Their strength had all been elevated by at least one level, and they were not afraid of death.
The black mist spread to the city center, where Demon Hunters gathered. A pale blue barrier rose around the building, temporarily isolating the outside mist.
The barrier was set up by the Barrier Master before leaving Xihong City; the Demon Hunters in the building merely activated it.
The nature of the mist had not yet been determined, and the Demon Hunters dared not let the mist enter the building.
Xun Ying stood atop the building, tossing out a longsword, letting it hover above the building. With this sword, the building became a temporary shelter; all malevolent beings could not invade it.
Then Xun Ying soared into the heavens, transforming into a streak of sword light, flying towards the center of the mist.
The central building had barrier protection and Xun Ying’s shelter, but other places lacked such convenience.
One by one, supporters, as well as lower-ranking Demon Hunters below Disaster Level, started to show black patterns on their bodies.
Nearby Disaster Level Demon Hunters immediately knocked unconscious those Demon Hunters affected by the black mist and carried them to underground strongholds, where there were powerful purification devices.
Each Hunters Association stronghold was equipped with arrays, purification devices, or superpower items to shield against exotic energies, in preparation for emergencies.
These devices varied in strength; some were powerful, some weak, but every stronghold had one.
But even so, the Demon Hunters outside suffered heavy losses, with at least over half of the Supporters and more than thirty percent of the low-level Demon Hunters being influenced by the Black Mist. They rushed out of the prepared base toward a certain location to serve the Pervasive Angel, Maya Mi.
This was the might of a Catastrophe-Level Expert, whose mere presence hadn’t even appeared, yet had already inflicted enormous losses on the Hunters Association.
Fortunately, the Association had already forcibly relocated all the commoners from Liaozhou City and Xihong City, otherwise just that mist alone would have provided Maya Mi with at least several million more human soldiers.
Under the influence of that black mist, all sites in Xihong City where flesh parts were kept ceased functioning.
The flesh parts that had always been suppressed burst through the constraints holding them and dashed through the Black Mist, their target being the true body of the Pervasive Angel!
Wave’s body trembled slightly, and an invisible energy blocked the surrounding Black Mist. He watched those flesh parts with an ashen face but did not interfere, for it was already too late.
No wonder the Pervasive Angel had not targeted those flesh parts for retrieval; it didn’t need to find these things one by one. As soon as it recovered to a certain extent, no one could restrain its flesh anymore.
In the direction of Xihong City near Liaozhou City, there was a huge vortex formed by the Black Mist, and a hundred meters above the vortex floated a figure with eight wings, none other than the Pervasive Angel, Maya Mi.
Compared to the last time he met Wen Wen, the current Maya Mi appeared more complete. Flesh parts from various directions broke through the clouds and attached themselves to his body.
Skin, eyes, hair, nose, mouth... As these flesh parts gradually assembled, Maya Mi looked more and more complete.
Once the wound he had made on his forehead healed, he looked like a fully formed Fallen Angel.
The True Order Rank Black Mist that Wen Wen had hooked up with before landed on Maya Mi, turning into a pure black robe.
Maya Mi pressed his temple, his expression darkening, "It should have all been gathered, why am I still missing two pieces of brain?"
"After this is over, I might as well eat that little Fallen Angel to make up for it."
Then, Maya Mi raised his right hand, and the Black Mist that had shrouded the two cities and their surroundings began to rapidly gather into his palm, eventually condensing into a black long spear.
This was Maya Mi’s weapon, the Fog Demon Spear!
Maya Mi raised the Fog Demon Spear, and suddenly a plain longsword crashingly struck the spear. The collision of the two weapons produced a shockwave that directly toppled buildings a hundred meters below.
"Young man, your murderous intent is a bit too obvious."
"Obvious intent, but capable of killing you!" Xun Qing said coldly.
A smirk curled on Maya Mi’s lips. His resurrection had been delayed for such a long time, it was only to be expected that Catastrophe-Level Experts would come to intercept him.
When still just pieces of flesh, a small part of its brain had infiltrated a Demon Hunter’s brain, knowing that the current Hunters Association was far more colossal than the Glory Church of two thousand years ago.
If too much time were to lapse, certainly other Catastrophe-Level experts would arrive, among them perhaps those capable of completely killing Maya Mi.
Thus, if Wen Wen had not shown up two days earlier, after Maya Mi had recovered, the first thing he would have done was to go on a killing spree, then he would have ambushed the Cicada Ancestor, and finally vanished, making it impossible for the Association’s superpower users to track him down.
But after hearing Wen Wen’s plan, a surge of ambition ignited in him.
This time he didn’t want to flee anymore; he wanted to utterly defeat the Cicada Ancestor, and then take from him what he desired.
As for this Disaster-Level Swordsman...
He would just be a witness as Maya Mi stepped into a higher realm!
