Chapter 748: Chapter 738: The Black Qi

"Who is it!"

Startled, Wen Wen flapped his pitch-black wings forcefully backward, but he didn’t touch anything.

A wisp of black smoke quietly skirted around Wen Wen’s wings and whispered in his ear, "You’ve been marked by the Hunter Association. I can help you escape from here."

The voice of the black smoke was ethereal and undulating, which made it difficult for Wen Wen to guess, "How insubstantial must one’s body be to speak so lacking in vigor?"

"I’m being watched?"

Wen Wen was somewhat incredulous; he was clear about the setup here, and in his memory, this place had no hidden traps.

The black smoke laughed strangely: "This is a bait set by the Hunter Association. The moment you stepped into this prison, there were already several pairs of eyes watching you."

"Why should I believe you?"

"I am a servant of The Supreme, and I simply don’t want you to fall into their trap."

The Supreme...

Could it be the Pervasive Angel?

Wen Wen blinked. His purpose for the jailbreak was to make contact with the Pervasive Angel.

If this cloud of black mist really was from the Pervasive Angel, then there would have been no need for him to break into the jail.

However, Wen Wen was no fool to readily believe anyone who approached him. Despite its unremarkable appearance, this black mist held considerable strength.

Wen Wen was currently using the Fallen Angel Physique, and his strength was not as formidable as in his normal state. But this individual had managed to approach him silently, and just the stealth alone was enough to make Wen Wen cautious.

But what he said about being watched...

Wen Wen extended his senses, inching forward, and while he didn’t detect any clear threats, there were indeed several vague spots.

This made Wen Wen’s expression grave. Any difference from before indicated that the configuration here was different from what he knew. Therefore, those unclear spots could house either specially placed objects or powerful superpower users in hiding.

"Then... lead the way."

"Heh heh, I’m not leading the way. You have to go there on your own."

Before Wen Wen could understand what "go there on your own" meant, countless white webs rose around him, turning the area into something resembling a spider’s lair.

A massive spider clad in hard armor was circling on the web, making the place even more impenetrable. It seemed Sifumo had grown significantly stronger since the last time he had worked with Wen Wen.

This confirmed to Wen Wen that this place was indeed a trap. As the white webs rose, the auras of two additional Upper Sequence superpower users appeared, aside from Sifumo.

The combined force of these three alone was enough to give Wen Wen a headache. The most important thing was that there was a big boss here...

An invisible, silent attack came hurtling towards Wen Wen with formidable power that could crush him.

The attack came from a man wearing a blue sweater with wavy patterns, topped with curly hair. If Wen Wen hadn’t known a bit about his abilities, he might not have even sensed the attack...

This wavy-haired man was a True-order Master.

He had come to Menxia Province with the Vice President of Heavenly Pillar and a Barrier Master, codenamed "Wave."

Compared to the Barrier Master, his presence was minimal; Wen Wen had not expected to encounter him here.

As the attack approached, Wen Wen’s hair stood on end. The energy of Dark Matter mingled with the force of the Fallen Angel, forming a black shield.

The attack then collided with the shield, silently dissipating outward, causing the ground within a three to five meter radius around Wen Wen to sink by more than a meter!

The black shield shattered into energy fragments that disintegrated on the ground, but ultimately, Wen Wen still forcibly withstood the blow.

If it weren’t for the Dark Matter Force, relying solely on his Fallen Angel Physique, he would definitely be reduced to meat paste by this attack.

The wave rustled his naturally curly hair, and that attack just now was only a common one, he extended his hand once more towards Wen Wen and softly said, "Billow..."

The invisible strength, like surging waves, rushed towards Wen Wen’s direction, making Wen Wen’s complexion somewhat bitter.

There were spider webs around, so he couldn’t dodge extensively, and while he could withstand the first attack, it was uncertain if he could withstand a second.

Could he only skulk into the Sanctuary in defeat?

Was his plan going to be thwarted at the very first step?

Just then, the black mist that had previously blown on the back of Wen Wen’s neck suddenly drifted in front of him, scattering a clump of ink-like dark smoke with a wave of his hand.

When the invisible attack hit this smoke, it vanished mysteriously, without stirring a ripple.

Wave’s eyebrows lifted, originally he thought he’d be dealing with the one-winged Fallen Angel, but now it seemed that this imperceptible fog was the greatest threat.

The vague and indistinct black mist suddenly expanded, enveloping everything around Wen Wen.

A wisp of mist formed a small mouth near Wen Wen’s ear and said, "Keep heading due east, The Supreme is waiting for you."

Sifumo and several other superpower users took turns attacking, but their attacks disappeared silently upon hitting the black mist.

After seeing this scene, Wen Wen was reassured, directly following the black fog’s guidance and running towards the east.

The black mist, meanwhile, remained in place drawing fire. Unfortunately, no matter how hard Sifumo and the others tried, they failed to shake the seemingly flimsy black mist.

Wave didn’t make a move, just frowned in the direction Wen Wen had left, understanding from just that one attack that even if he used his full strength, he would be helpless against the black mist.

Once Wen Wen had left, the black fog reformed into the shape of a middle finger, taunting Wave before leaving the Cowardice Prison in a leisurely manner.

Wave stopped Sifumo and the other three Upper Sequence superpower users who tried to intercept it, with a gesture.

"It’s useless, you can’t catch it... neither can I."

"That’s an extraordinary being."

...

The black fog happily drifted eastward, pleased to have once again completed The Supreme’s command.

It was originally just a mist naturally surrounding the Pervasive Angel, and as it lingered over time, it naturally developed intelligence, naturally improved its strength, and slowly became of True Order Rank.

However, its True Order status was somewhat exaggerated; it could only talk to people and couldn’t touch anything.

In a way, it was merely a cloud of intelligent black mist because it couldn’t even kill an ant.

But that didn’t mean it was utterly useless.

Beings that attain True Order Rank might vary in the intensity of their abilities, but they generally meet the standards of True Order.

The black mist had nearly abandoned all capabilities except for intelligence and speech, retaining only one special ability. With just this singular ability, it stood shoulder-to-shoulder with other True Order beings.

This ability was named—Absolute Defense!

The black mist could shield a specific target from all attacks below Catastrophe Level.

Whether it was a Mental Attack or a physical one, it could block them all.

Even though the target’s own attacks couldn’t reach the outside world, at least when enveloped by the black mist, they were absolutely safe.
