Chapter 713: Chapter 703 The Center of Strength

In the lowest level of the Sanctuary, within a circular room, a large door accompanied by wailing noises slowly opened.

A bald man was thrown out like a piece of torn rag, bouncing twice as he hit the ground.

Then, the door reluctantly closed, revealing no further anomalies.

This bald man was Dr. Feng, who had been thrown into the Punishment Room by Wen Wen over a month ago.

At this moment, his face was deathly pale, his expression vacant, occasionally twitching.

The month inside the Punishment Room felt as long as a year each day.

From being hacked and hewed to being deep-fried and having his tongue pulled out, every imaginable punishment from the real world was there, and even some that weren’t, with no single punishment ever repeating.

Each time, it was a brand-new version!

The worst part was when he became numb from enduring too much punishment, that place would even arrange mental recovery training for him!

The once cunning and malicious man now resembled a frightened rabbit, terrified half to death by just a cucumber.

Having sat in the room for half an hour, Dr. Feng finally realized that he had escaped from that hellish place.

"No one is guarding me now,, I can take this chance to escape from here..."

Just as this thought crossed his mind, numerous black chains appeared out of nowhere, binding him tightly and then vanishing into thin air with him.

When he reappeared, he was back in the same cell he started in.

Ais Wakaz, in the next cell, noticed Dr. Feng’s appearance and showed a look of pity; he knew what Dr. Feng had endured, as he had been in there several times a thousand years ago.

But the pity was fleeting. Ais immediately began teasing Dr. Feng with his loincloth and then made a face at him.

Scared by Ais’s actions, Dr. Feng backed away several steps and sat down on the ground, now finding everything terrifying.

The other monsters noticed Dr. Feng’s disturbed state and began to cackle strangely, making various scary gestures and forcing Dr. Feng to huddle in the corner, shivering.

"This world is truly too wicked,"

Ais exclaimed, then comfortably lay back on the bed in his cell, resting his legs in a relaxed position and feeling quite content, as long as the misfortune was not his.

Wen Wen, who was practicing his swordsmanship, also sensed Dr. Feng’s reappearance and immediately stopped, rushing toward the Disaster Area of the Sanctuary.

He was very curious about what Dr. Feng had encountered in the Punishment Room.

As soon as he entered the third level of the Disaster Area, Wen Wen frowned upon hearing the booming noises coming from Blood Clan Duke Illiyat.

This duke had recovered to his True Order Level just seven days ago from his small bat form.

Of course, the severe injuries he had previously suffered weren’t so easily mended.

His current strength couldn’t compare to his peak; within the True Order, he was probably among the weakest, needing at least a few more years to potentially return to his state before the ambush.

Since regaining his True Order strength, Illiyat had constantly tried to break out of the Sanctuary’s prison.

His cell was slightly different from other monsters’; the entire room was covered in high-intensity ultraviolet light, and the ceiling and floor were engraved with runes emitting divine power, the interior of the cell also being lined with black chains.

Such an environment could be called a vampire’s dead end,, as ordinary vampires would die within minutes of entering.

But that just made Illiyat slightly subdued, but it couldn’t keep him completely quiet.

"True Order Rank monsters really are different from other monsters..."

Wen Wen, with a slight headache, looked at Illiyat who was bouncing around even more restlessly than a monkey and scratched his head anxiously.

As the capture of monsters intensified, the Sanctuary no longer seemed omnipotent as it did at the beginning. Its containment measures could at most ensure that Illiyat couldn’t escape, but they couldn’t keep him from causing trouble or completely block out the noise he made.

Wen Wen stood at the cell door and said, "You keep making such a fuss, how do you expect others to rest? The most important thing for a monster is to have a sense of public spirit, to always think about contributing to world peace, to be a good monster of the new era..."

"Heh... Tui!~" Illiyat ignored Wen Wen’s persuasion, acting quite arrogantly.

Wen Wen raised an eyebrow and said, "I am a person of elegance and amiability, and I like to reason. I’m telling you, as a monster, you need to be civilized and set a good example. You can’t curse..."

Illiyat coldly said, "Heh."

Wen Wen, not angry at all, rolled up his sleeves and activated the Calamity Prison Supervisor mode, and walked into Illiyat’s cell.

"Are you dumb* ears plugged huh, do you need to suck out the earwax with a straw to understand what I’m saying? You **..."

When Wen Wen walked out of the cell with a smile, Illiyat’s head was swollen and hanging from the chandelier at the top of the cell, and as for the rest of his body... it was all over the walls.

Such injuries were not enough to kill Illiyat, but were enough to keep him quiet for a while.

Illiyat’s head softly cursed a few words in resentment, then didn’t dare make any more loud noises. A Catastrophe Level boss was too much for him to provoke—on the same level as the Blood Emperor.

...

"This Illiyat still needs to be properly educated for a while before he can become my lackey,"

Wen Wen had tried using Illiyat’s physique, but he soon discovered that he couldn’t fully inherit Illiyat’s strength, being able to manifest it only up to the level of an ordinary High-Tier powerhouse—and he couldn’t use the Cataclysmic Trait at all.

Initially, Wen Wen thought it was a problem with himself, but after consulting Jin Kela, he realized it was a limitation of the Sanctuary itself.

Each bracelet could at most carry the strength of one High-Tier powerhouse, and when combined, they could use the physiques of two High-Tier powerhouses at the same time.

This essentially meant that Wen Wen could not endlessly grow stronger by capturing monsters.

If he wanted to become a real powerhouse, he ultimately had to rely on his own strength.

But Wen Wen was not discouraged at all; after his Enlightenment of True Self at the Jianzhen Spring, his mentality had changed.

Originally, the core of his strength system came from the monsters of the Sanctuary.

But upon returning from there, he removed the Shark Strongman Physique, and now the two bracelets were using the Red Tiger Baby Physique and the Blue Monster Physique, respectively.

One allowed Wen Wen to Teleport, the other gave him an extra life safeguard, as well as control over the Ghostly Blood Wolf King—these were all auxiliary abilities, and did not substantially boost Wen Wen’s strength.

This meant that the center of Wen Wen’s strength system had shifted to his own abilities.

If it were the old Wen Wen, he probably would have found it difficult to make this decision, because it meant his strength would drop significantly.

But after seeing the version of himself who had never had a Sanctuary, Wen Wen made the decision without much thought at all.

This was simply trading current conveniences for a brighter future.
