Chapter 705: Chapter 695: Spirit Plant People
The giant whale soared through the clouds, and aside from a jolt when it accelerated, the people on the whale’s back didn’t feel any bumpiness at all.
Wen Wen stood in the plaza, watching the clouds of mist passing by the whale’s side, and the occasional Six-eyed Flying Fish swimming by, feeling somewhat dazed.
However, he was well aware that this place was not some fairyland, but merely the back of a gigantic creature.
At the center of the whale’s back, there was a protruding mountain shaped like a severed root, with a clear lake at the center of the root and a cluster of buildings on top of the root, which served as the headquarters of the Hunter Association.
Before coming here, Wen Wen had heard from Xun Qing that compared to the regional headquarters in the Capital District, the buildings of the headquarters were actually quite simple, only because all the core operations of the Association were located here, making it the true headquarters.
There were no magical fitness equipment nor top-tier restaurants like those in Extreme Flavor Tower, so Wen Wen was not very interested in the headquarters.
But beneath the root-shaped mountain, there was a cluster of houses and farmlands, looking like a small town, which sparked Wen Wen’s curiosity.
Could it be that humans lived in this small town, and what kind of world view did they have, living in such a place?
Suddenly, the thunderous sound of a gong interrupted Wen Wen’s thoughts, and a chubby pale creature in a red bellyband approached, capturing everyone’s attention.
For a moment, Wen Wen was unclear about what creature this was, but then a group of similar small creatures appeared, and he suddenly realized.
These were a group of fruits and vegetables, chubby radish people, red Tomato People, and big onions green on top and white below...
These small creatures, not taller than one meter, all had hands, feet, and eyes and seemed to possess intelligence similar to humans.
Wen Wen and the other Demon Hunters marveled at these small creatures, having heard of trees and vines becoming sentient, but cabbage becoming sentient was extremely rare, unheard of.
"Would sentient cabbage taste good?" Wen Wen’s hand itched to secretly pluck a leaf to taste it.
Just at that moment, a curly-haired man sitting on a flying carpet floated over and said loudly to everyone,
"Please follow the Spirit Plant People to the venue of the exchange meeting. According to custom, the first two days are product showcases and free trade..."
Wen Wen raised an eyebrow. So, those fruits and vegetables were called Spirit Plant People. However, the man’s strength also surprised Wen Wen slightly; he was also a True-order Master.
The Green Vegetable People had signs in their hands, each sign bearing the name of a district.
Xun Qing, leading a group of dozens from the Capital District, followed a Tomato Person down from Root Mountain toward the town below, which seemed to be the venue.
Wen Wen watched the Tomato Person with great curiosity, eager to poke it with a little cone to see whether it was filled with tomato juice or some special kind of flesh. Not just Wen Wen, many Demon Hunters were also quite curious.
Aware of the crowd’s thoughts, Xun Qing chuckled and said, "I was also startled when I first saw these little beings. These creatures grew out of the vegetable fields; although they are not unintelligent, their nature is simple."
"By the way, these special life forms have only been around for a little more than two hundred years. When the headquarters was first established on the back of the Sky Curtain Giant Whale, rather than continuously transporting food and drink from the ground to the whale, they began to grow vegetables and raise livestock here."
"As the area of cultivation increased, some vegetables started to grow wildly, and once they grew large enough, they turned into so-called Spirit Plant People."
Wen Wen gently tapped the ground twice with his foot. So the enormous whale was called the Sky Curtain Giant Whale.
"These Spirit Plant People lack self-preservation abilities and cannot survive on their own in this world, so the Association left them on the whale’s back, where they take care of some miscellaneous tasks for the headquarters..."
Wen Wen was slightly amazed, it seemed that this giant whale really was extraordinary, just planting vegetables on it could produce such bizarre beings.
But soon Wen Wen paused, "Wait, if planting vegetables results in Spirit Plant People, then all these plants on the whale’s back..."
Xun Qing nodded and said, "Exactly, the older plants on the whale’s back all have some abilities, so don’t wander into the forests unnecessarily. Though they dare not harm anyone’s life, being teased by them is inevitable."
Meanwhile, the group from the Capital District had been led by the Tomato People to one side of a decagonal square in the center of the town, where the conference was being held in this massive square.
Demon Hunters from various districts were busily showcasing their products in their constructed exhibition areas.
The conference’s procedure required a high-level meeting, debates, a speech by the chairman, among other sundry activities, and it would take a total of ten days for this event to conclude.
During these ten days, the Hunter Headquarters would sequentially summon ’Excellent Demon Hunters’ to go for ’Enlightenment of True Self’.
For Wen Wen, the greatest significance of this conference was that chance for Enlightenment of True Self.
Xun Qing’s explanations were unclear, so Wen Wen didn’t know what would happen then. He could only brace himself and prepare. Additionally, Wen Wen needed to purchase an airplane.
Wen Wen didn’t want to waste time, so he started searching right there in the venue, and sure enough, there were some interesting items at this venue.
For example, inside the exhibit area of the Capital District, there was a young man selling water guns described as ghost exorcism tools that even commoners could use.
This young man was a member of a ghost exorcism squad in the Capital District, named Wu Liuzhen. He was young but skilled at dealing with ghosts, though Wen Wen was not familiar with him.
Curious, Wen Wen walked over, picked up a water gun and said while examining it, "This looks like just a water gun to me, how can it be considered a ghost exorcism tool?"
Wu Liuzhen, recognizing Wen Wen as an Upper Sequence from the Capital District, spoke cautiously, "This is not just any ordinary water gun, but a portable high-pressure water gun that can convert the liquid in this small bottle into a high-pressure water stream."
After speaking, Wu Liuzhen picked up another water gun, aimed it at a rock, and fired, cutting a mark on the stone.
"Interesting."
Wen Wen’s eyes lit up. He picked up the water gun in his hand, aimed it at his own palm; hitting a rock didn’t show much, but hitting a person would reveal its mystery.
"Hold on..." Wu Liuzhen quickly reached out to stop Wen Wen.
Wen Wen said with a smile, "Don’t worry, this thing can’t hurt me."
With Wen Wen’s current physique, not to mention a high-pressure water gun, even a high-pressure water cannon for his bathing would be somewhat mild.
Sure enough, the water stream hissed into Wen Wen’s palm, not harming him in the slightest.
"The power of this water gun is about the same as a regular handgun, probably not enough to harm a ghost, right? How can this be considered a ghost exorcism tool?"
Wu Liuzhen stepped back a little, looking somewhat sheepish.
