Chapter 647: Chapter 637: Traps and Specimens

The Lycanthrope with a limp didn’t show much change in appearance, but his internal structure had been plantified, so there were no vital points in the strictest sense on his body, and even if his neck was severed or his heart pierced, he would still jump around alive. This was a consistent feature of the monsters transformed by Dr. Feng.

Although Dr. Feng’s modifications greatly enhanced the fighting ability of the limping Lycanthrope, its foundation was ultimately too weak and was no match for Tao Qingqing when she unleashed her full strength. She quickly tore it completely apart.

The fallen branches on the ground still tried to gather together to heal, but Tao Qingqing did not give them the chance, releasing blood-colored energy that completely destroyed those branches.

Throughout the process, Dr. Feng didn’t make a move. Instead, he was seriously recording everything. After the fight was over, he closed his notebook and said to Tao Qingqing,

"The power you used is indeed authentic vampire strength, but you don’t have those vampire weaknesses. If those old codgers knew about a special member of the Blood Clan like you, they’d definitely capture you for slicing and research."

"Those old codgers... Do you know the upper echelons of the Blood Clan?" Tao Qingqing asked, her eyes flickering.

Wen Wen had already informed Zhu Qipei and Master Feng Bei. They were on their way here, and Tao Qingqing’s task was to delay as much time as possible before they arrived.

Dr. Feng did not deny it, "Indeed, I have connections with those old codgers. My last batch of plant zombies was created referencing the method your Blood Clan uses to make blood corpses. Such a thing couldn’t have been figured out by studying ordinary vampires; it was the Blood Clan Elder who gave me the information."

Typically, a human targeted by a vampire either gets completely drained or is transformed into a new member of the Blood Clan. However, humans who are drained of blood by some special members of the Blood Clan die as blood corpses, which have a bloodlust but completely lack intelligence and significant supernatural strength.

"So, do you plan to hand me over to the high echelons of the Blood Clan?"

Tao Qingqing asked curiously, for if Dr. Feng intended to hand her over to the Blood Clan, then her task could be considered completed.

"No, no, no." Dr. Feng laughed, shaking his finger, "Such an interesting specimen as you, why would I hand it over to someone else? Of course, I’ll keep it for my own research."

Seeing Dr. Feng’s gaze begin to change, Tao Qingqing knew he was about to make a move on her, so she immediately transformed into a bat and scattered in every direction.

Although Wen Wen had told her to act as bait, she was not willing to just surrender without a fight. All these bats were part of her body; escaping with even a small part meant she would be out of Dr. Feng’s control.

However, Tao Qingqing soon realized she was being naïve. Escaping a High-Tier Powerhouse’s pursuit in a confined space was not so easy.

Stout plant branches sprouted from the walls, the floor, and beneath the experiment tables, growing into various dense plants which blocked all her bats, leaving no opportunity for escape.

Thus, she could only reluctantly regroup her body and, feigning a terrified expression, watched Dr. Feng.

Dr. Feng smiled and said, "This is my important lab. Did you really think I left nothing here? This place is a huge plant trap. The moment you stepped in, it was impossible for you to leave, just like a fly entering a Venus flytrap!"

The plants slowly came together, gradually shrinking Tao Qingqing’s space to move. Although she kept resisting fiercely, she was eventually tightly bound by these plants.

Seeing Tao Qingqing captured, Dr. Feng also breathed a sigh of relief.

He knew there were people in the city investigating him, so to keep this lab undiscovered, he had significantly reduced its defenses and had left nothing that could emit energy waves.

Whether it was the parasitic grass controlling the teachers and children in those orphanages outside or the vines surrounding the lab, all were split from his own body.

Everything had already been so meticulously arranged that it shouldn’t have been discovered, yet it was all because of that lame Lycanthrope that Tao Qingqing stumbled upon it by a mere fluke.

The reason he had given Tao Qingqing so much time to explore was to see if she had any accomplices or if she had communicated the details of this place with anyone. It was only after confirming that Tao Qingqing had no external contacts that he decided to make his move on her.

Dr. Feng placed Tao Qingqing on an experimental table and said to her, "You took quite a few things from me before; can you now return those items to me?"

He was referring to the experimental materials that Tao Qingqing had sent to the Sanctuary, materials that, although not valuable, were hard to come by and would take a lot of time to gather again.

Tao Qingqing shook her head; she had no way to retrieve the items that had already been sent to the Sanctuary.

Dr. Feng’s expression turned icy, as Tao Qingqing did not have any storage equipment, so he couldn’t figure out where those items were.

"Since you’re not cooperating with me, then I have no choice."

He turned and began to mix the remaining materials into a concoction. To Tao Qingqing, it seemed he was just mixing some random stuff together, and finally, he even drew a tube of his own blood and added it to the mixture.

After loading the concoction into a syringe, Dr. Feng said to Tao Qingqing:

"After being captured by me, you didn’t contact anyone else. However, you didn’t lose hope, perhaps believing someone would come to rescue you, or perhaps you had some secret method, confident that you could escape from me."

"But do you think, after I captured you, I would let you be rescued? No, I wouldn’t give anyone that chance."

"Killing you outright would be the safest, but since I indeed need you alive a little longer to complete my experiment, I’ll first turn you into something of mine."

"This syringe contains a toxin specially formulated by me; once injected, you will lose your will, and even if someone were to rescue you, you would not return to normal, only serving the purpose as my experimental material!"

Seeing the green syringe, Tao Qingqing finally showed a genuinely terrified expression. If Wen Wen didn’t appear soon, she would truly be doomed.

One second, two seconds... The air was so quiet that the fall of a pin could be heard clearly. Dr. Feng waited about ten seconds before lifting the pale green syringe, bizarrely smiling at Tao Qingqing.

"It looks like no miracle is going to happen; goodbye, then."

The long syringe moved towards Tao Qingqing’s heart, and she could only desperately close her eyes.

But just then, a pitch-black palm blocked the front of the syringe.

"My suspicion was indeed correct; someone really did come to save her, and appeared right before me out of thin air!"

Dr. Feng’s heart trembled, but his expression quickly turned fierce and his actions didn’t stop, aiming directly at the hand.

The syringe in his hand was specially made, powerful enough to penetrate the skin of a Disaster Level Monster. Although the concoction couldn’t make a High-Tier Powerhouse lose their will, it could at least weaken the strength of the newcomer!
