Chapter 568: Chapter 567 A Pleasant Half Hour

"This old inn is really a good place, just too rundown, no internet cables either. It’d be fun if a couple of beauties could come over for some laughs."

Zhang Fafu finished his bath and lay on the bed, turning on the decrepit television to watch.

He was nearly forty, broad and plump, looking just like an average middle-aged man, yet he was quite famous in a county near Baoya City, known as Master Zhang.

By using his Blinding Spell to deceive people with fabricated Ghost disturbances, he scammed many local families into ruin, and it wasn’t until four years had passed that his schemes were exposed.

But what did it matter if it was exposed? He had already made a fortune. He just needed to stay in the old inn for two months to lie low, then he could head to another district to live a happy and prosperous life; no one could punish him.

Suddenly, the image on the old television flickered a few times, the colorful picture turning to a monochrome tint, emitting a grating noise, with only an ancient well on the screen.

Then a pale hand reached out from the well!

Zhang Fafu frowned and walked over to the TV, giving it a couple of hard smacks, remembering that this was a way to ’fix’ a malfunctioning television.

Due to his smacking, the TV image shook, and the hand that had crawled to the edge of the well lost its grip and fell back into the well with a splash.

"Ah!"

"I get it, the show must originally be in black and white, and I just happened to come across a horror movie."

Zhang Fafu had yet to realize what was happening; he who often used ghosts to frighten others hadn’t realized that one day such things would happen to him.

"You fat bastard, I’m going to chop off your filthy hands!"

"How could the TV show know I’m fat? Could it be..."

Zhang Fafu’s expression stiffened as he looked at the TV screen, realizing something was wrong.

He saw a woman with long hair and a white dress, pale-faced and dripping Black Blood from her mouth, scrambling out of the well like a spider and getting closer and closer to the TV screen.

And black liquid started oozing from the television as the room filled with a chilling aura.

"There, there are...there’s a ghost!"

He immediately bolted for the door, but the moment he opened it, he found the scene outside to be far more terrifying than inside.

Desperate screams of agony, the sobbing of those going mad, the helpless pleas for mercy... All cut from the same cloth, yet the most chilling and frightening.

The wild laughter of the Monsters also had its distinctive traits, making Zhang Fafu wonder if he had found himself in Hell.

Miss Zhao, who scammed others of their life-saving money selling tea online, was pinned under a terrifying large Insect, uttering a desperate shriek.

An unfeeling assassin hired by a demolition company was hung upside down by a red butted Curly-haired Baboon holding a steel scrubber, eager to start, with rubber bands and cooling oil on the side.

The stony-faced boss of a pyramid scheme sat in front of an Angel, listening to the Creation God’s Quotations, in danger of being slapped if he let his attention wander for even a moment.

Mr. Wang, who came often for gambling, preferring to rob people of their virtue than their money, lay flat on a table while a girl with fluffy bunny ears and tail sharpened her knife, preparing to castrate...

After just a brief glance, Zhang Fafu realized that the old inn had turned into a den of evil, and there was nowhere he could flee.

Suddenly, two icy, slippery pale arms wrapped around his neck, and a Faceless head rested on his shoulder.

"Come back with me, fatso!"

Zhang Fafu didn’t even have a chance to beg for mercy before he was irresistibly pulled back into the room, and then the door shut completely, isolating him once again from the outside world.

...

After resting with his eyes closed for about half an hour, Wen Wen sat up and rubbed his eyes, finding that the old hotel was still bustling with noise.

"Alright, that’s enough, everyone’s gone mad enough, bring all the people here," he said.

The liveliness of the old hotel quieted down instantly, and soon, monster after monster came out with the hotel guests, placing them all in front of Wen Wen.

They had followed Wen Wen’s orders, not harming anyone’s life, but there were still a few missing arms and legs, and half of them had been driven to mental instability by the ordeal.

"Tsk tsk, you guys sure had a wild time," Wen Wen remarked.

The monsters laughed quietly. They had been contained in the Sanctuary for a long time, and getting half an hour to go wild was a sheer delight for them.

Wen Wen joined in their laughter for a bit, then turned to the Faceless Demon by his side and said, "Hey Faceless, can you tally up which dumbass messed people up? Their chores will be doubled for the next ten days."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the monsters went from happy to wailing, as they had rarely gotten to enjoy half an hour of fun, not to mention each had indulged in their own mischief...

Apart from these ordinary people, the Jumo group of four had also been captured by the monsters.

Wen Wen had nothing to say regarding Jumo and Tong Zhuangzhuang; he dragged them directly into the Sanctuary. They would now receive the same treatment as the other monsters.

As for the buck-toothed old security guard, the disabled old lady from the third floor, and the three including Mai Xiaodou, Wen Wen was somewhat troubled.

After thinking for a while, Wen Wen decided to also capture the old lady and Mai Xiaodou, putting them into the Sanctuary, albeit temporarily.

Wen Wen planned to find time to implant chains in them, then let them work inside the Sanctuary, handling some mundane affairs, thus providing them a place to stay.

As for the last buck-toothed old security guard...

Wen Wen said to him, "I quite like you. Would you be willing to work for me, to become one of my employees?"

The old security guard looked at the eager monsters around him and after a bitter smile asked, "Do I have the right to refuse?"

"You can try."

Wen Wen handed him a Containment Officer contract with a hint of threat in his tone.

The old guard sighed and reluctantly signed his name on the contract.

After signing the contract with the Sanctuary, the Sanctuary would perform some body modifications that were beneficial to the Containment Officers. After these modifications, the old guard’s ugly buck teeth would probably disappear.

Wen Wen also saw his name; he was called Feng Baosheng.

"So, Feng Baosheng, your first task that I’m giving you is to pick out the twenty worst residents here."

"Yes, boss," replied Feng Baosheng.

A sinister light flashed in Feng Baosheng’s eyes as he walked into the crowd and, without hesitation, pulled out twenty people.

After he finished, his eyes returned to normal, but he began to breathe heavily, clearly pressured by the task of discerning that many people at once.

Wen Wen gestured to drag those twenty people into the Sanctuary; they were to be the new prison guards.

As for the rest...

Wen Wen took out a Memory Eraser, scanned each of them with it, then ordered them to be tied up and delivered to the local police station.

The local police would probably be very pleased because they were going to have a significant boost in their performance for the evening...
