Chapter 479: Chapter 477: Gathering Forces to Demand Accountability

With the rising of the sun on the third day came a azure barrier.

This barrier slowly formed into a gigantic hemispherical dome of light that enveloped the entire Qi Ling Mountain, ensuring that common monsters no longer had the chance to escape en masse from this area.

The barrier was set up by Demon Spirit Village and possessed magical properties, capable of selectively intercepting beast-like monsters, which was the reason Wen Wen was able to slip in so easily before.

This barrier was almost defenseless against humans, serving merely as a cage to contain the monsters within.

Once the barrier was completely closed, its color began to fade, and eventually, it disappeared gradually.

The Supporters burst into cheers in an instant, signifying that their mission was over, and they had survived a terrible battle.

Lin Zheyuan and others also breathed a sigh of relief; staying here any longer, who knew what kind of monsters might appear.

Their mission was considered complete, but Wen Wen’s task was not yet finished—as his Ranger Terminal received a new mission order.

The instruction commanded Wen Wen and his team to assemble at the camp and then head to Demon Spirit Village under the lead of three True Order Rangers... to confront and question!

"We have other missions to attend to. After they’re done, I’ll come back to check on things—make sure you prepare some good stuff to welcome me," Wen Wen said to Lin Zheyuan before he and the Flame Sparrow rushed to the camp.

Upon returning to the camp, there were already over fifty Rangers gathered, as well as more than sixty True Integration Sequence superpower users from two special forces teams!

The special forces were the armed divisions directly under the control of the Capital District’s main association. Each special forces team comprised around thirty members, led by a True Order Demon Hunter, with each member possessing at least Assimilation Realm strength.

They underwent extremely rigorous special training, and one special forces team was enough to face off against more than twice their number of Demon Hunters of equivalent Level.

The first and fourth special forces teams had arrived for this operation, and together with Xun Qing, they were the three True Order Realm Demon Hunters present.

The leader of the first action team, named Tie Xingzhou, was a towering, muscular man who had once surrounded the headquarters of Profane Blood in Yanling City, Dongshan Province. However, he did not participate in the fight, so Wen Wen did not have any significant impression of him.

Yet, Wen Wen recognized the blond youngster named Yang Sheng in the group; previously, Wen Wen had used the Daming Lakeside to annoy him.

The commander of the fourth special forces team was a green-clad man with long hair and a shady gaze, who could give someone quite the scare if he stood in a corner.

Wen Wen only knew him by his codename, ’Ghost Taker’.

After waiting for about half an hour, everyone had arrived. Xun Qing, standing on a flying sword, took the lead and flew deep into the Qi Ling Mountain Range, with the others quickly following suit.

A procession of over a hundred people marched mightily towards Demon Spirit Village.

This was Wen Wen’s first time cooperating with so many superpower users. It was somewhat thrilling, and the person who had been watching him mysteriously disappeared after he and the main force had joined up.

The number of people here might not compare to the abundance during the Rangers’ assessment, but in terms of combat power, they could overwhelm the two hundred or so Assimilation Realm superpower users from that time.

The group did not hide their presence, and all the monsters along the way opened a path for the procession in fear, not daring to come out, even creatures like the Catastrophic Dragon.

The Rangers moved at high speed and soon arrived on the outskirts of Demon Spirit Village.

Demon Spirit Village was built on the summit of the main peak of Qi Ling Mountain Range, which from a distance looked slightly odd, resembling a giant wild beast that was crouching. The village itself was nestled in the waist and belly of this colossal creature.

The presence of the Rangers was undisguised, so by the time they reached the village, the villagers were already standing at the entrance, waiting for them.

Leading them were four bizarre-looking elders with the heads of wild beasts, yet dressed in washed-out grey-white apparel. The style of clothing was very ancient, which Wen Wen had only seen depicted in TV dramas about history from a hundred years ago, typically worn by village officials.

And those standing behind them, the villagers, were all dressed as farmers and farmwives, some completely human-shaped, others with the head of a beast and the body of a human.

What concerned Wen Wen more than their appearance was their strength.

The four elders in front were all strong practitioners of the Disaster True Sequence, one more in number than those from the Hunters Association on their side, and the villagers behind them, even those holding farming tools, were all formidable.

"Dragon Village Chief, you once made an accord with our Hunters Association to maintain the barrier and prevent the monsters here from escaping. What is happening now?"

Xun Qing stared intently at the front, harshly questioning an elder with a cyan dragon’s head.

"The barrier was not closed by us, but by someone from your Hunters Association who broke it themselves," the Dragon Village Chief said slowly, stroking his beard.

A tiger-headed elder standing beside him burst out impatiently, "Big brother, why waste words with them? Now is the time for us to demand an explanation from them!"

Xun Qing almost laughed in anger, "You mean to say this is our fault?"

The bird-headed old woman said shrilly, "We have coexisted peacefully with the humans outside for hundreds of years and have also helped you solve many troubles. Yet you contrived to steal our Supreme Treasure and now come here accusatorily; is it your intention to completely exterminate us?"

Tie Xingzhou furrowed his brows, feeling something was off, and quickly asked, "Make yourselves clear. You released the monsters first causing chaos around here; we came over because of that. What does your so-called ’Supreme Treasure’ have to do with us?"

The tiger-headed elder paid no heed to Tie Xingzhou’s words, his sharp claws extending from between his fingers, his whole being exuding a violent intent to kill.

"Hand over our belongings and get out of our territory forever, otherwise, you will have to bear our wrath!"

The people of Demon Spirit Village also began to display their Qi, and their arrogantly blazing aura ignited the temper of the Demon Hunters on the other side, both groups itching for a fight.

Wen Wen shook his arms and legs, multiple longspears floated behind him, his right hand gripping an Ice Longsword, and his left holding a Target Eye Shield, ready for combat.

And beside him, the Flame Sparrow had simply transformed into a human-shaped pillar of fire.

As the atmosphere between the two sides became increasingly tense, the three True Order Psychics sensed something was amiss, suspecting hidden secrets beneath the surface.

But it seemed Demon Spirit Village was not inclined to negotiate, intent on them presenting the so-called ’Supreme Treasure’ or else threatening war, which put Xun Qing in a difficult position.

He had only intended to bring people to intimidate them, never contemplating a deadly battle with Demon Spirit Village. With the forces he brought, at most they could manage a pyrrhic victory.

"Fortunately, I prepared in advance, otherwise today might have indeed turned disastrous..."

Xun Qing raised his head and softly said to the sky, "A Ying, it’s time for you to act."
