Chapter 456: Chapter 454 Catastrophe Descends

The Devout Chanter released a water orb that enveloped Wu Wang, intending to take him away.

But just at that moment, the expression of the Devout Chanter drastically changed, and his body vanished abruptly, retreating to the back of all the Aquatic Monsters.

Four black pillars of light shot toward Wu Wang from four different directions, and just as they were about to strike him, they suddenly bent upwards to form four huge black crosses!

Wu Wang, lying at the center of the four crosses, appeared like a sinner waiting for judgment under divine punishment.

The expression on the face of the Winged Servant also showed disbelief. Wasn’t it said that this world wasn’t as dangerous as the Inner World? So, what was happening here?

No sooner had he arrived than he encountered a being on the same level as himself, and not much later, a Catastrophe-Level Expert appeared?

"No... although it’s Catastrophe-level strength, this is an attack made from afar; he must not have come in person."

The Winged Servant and the Devout Chanter both came to the realization at the same time, but neither made any rash moves because they couldn’t figure out the situation with this suddenly emerged Catastrophe-Level Expert.

Wu Wang lay on the ground, spitting blood while laughing, "Are you so obsessed with killing me that the being behind you would act again and again on your behalf..."

"But dying here might not be so bad, at least it’s far better than being captured by those Fishmen."

Bringing Wu Wang back was an absolute command from Ancient God Ensook; the Devout Chanter hesitated for a while, but ultimately decided to take Wu Wang away.

That hidden Catastrophe-Level existence might not be able to arrive here in time, or maybe it’s power was infused into some object which was then activated by someone, or perhaps it was under some restrictions just like Ancient God Ensook.

In any case, as long as it didn’t appear in person, it wouldn’t be necessary for the Devout Chanter to defy Ensook’s order; he could still take Wu Wang away, at most at some cost.

However, just as such a thought arose in his mind, cold sweat instantly covered his body—if he hadn’t refrained from acting impulsively just now, he might have died!

Because a figure, full of oppressive power, was steadily approaching step by step.

This person wore a long robe that looked like black flames burning and did not use any Supernatural Power, but the aura he emitted slightly disturbed the Devout Chanter’s body.

Every step seemed to tread upon his heart.

The Winged Servant wasn’t faring any better; after landing on the ground, he diffused the whirlwind, and folded his wings, looking awkward and tentative, like a fledgling.

Because they all realized that the aura emanating from this person was indeed at the Catastrophe Level!

Although he did not use any Supernatural Power and walked over step by step like a normal person, the huge black crosses still lingering in the air were enough to prove his identity.

He had attacked from a distance just now, and within this short period of time, he had personally appeared on the scene.

In such a situation, no creature that didn’t have a death wish would try to test whether this person was genuine or not.

The Winged Servant, stiff in his body, paid his respects to Wen Wen, who did not even spare him a glance, as Wen Wen worried that any further action might blow his cover.

However, the Winged Servant saw this as absolutely normal and thus maintained his respectful posture as he stepped backward, one step at a time, until he was far enough away to turn around, flap his wings high, and fly off, leaving Hua Shan City.

It knew all too well that the whims of such high-level beings could mean life or death—one displeasing glance could result in its demise, at least the ’God of Whirlwind’ it served had such temperament!

Feeling the fear in the hearts of the surrounding people, Wen Wen found immense pleasure—the feeling of truly mastering strength.

It’s a pity that he is still nothing but a showpiece, only when his abilities have truly grown, and reached the level of Disaster True Sequence, will he be able to use this power in the real world.

For now, he could only bluff, so he dared not go too far, making sure everyone could save face, otherwise, he would have certainly made the Devout Chanter kneel and call him daddy...

The Devout Chanter swallowed saliva, recalling Lord Ensook’s demeanor when the task was assigned, not daring to do nothing, he half-kneeled on the ground and mustered up the courage to say,

"Oh great being, on behalf of my lord Ensook, I greet you. This human named Wu Wang has a vendetta with Lord Ensook, may I ask if you would allow us to have him, and Oye Water City will remember your generosity..."

As he spoke, Wen Wen’s heart shuddered, fearing that the guy would recklessly charge at him because of Ensook’s orders.

But upon hearing it was a request, Wen Wen let down his guard, and then came up with a plan to divert the problem elsewhere. With a deep voice, he said, "Tell Ensook, the person he is looking for is not this Wu Wang, he is merely a scapegoat."

"The man’s name is Wen Li, ’Wen’ as in plague, ’Li’ as in malice, let Ensook have a try and he will know."

After hearing this, the Devout Chanter respectfully stood up and led his Aquatic Monsters away.

Negotiating with Wen Wen had already cost him nearly all his courage, and he decidedly didn’t dare to say anything else.

Moreover, Wen Wen’s words might even bring him some credit.

Seeing two Disaster True Sequence monsters retreat, Wen Wen breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the city safe for now.

Then Wen Wen glanced at Metal Frenzy, looking pitiful in the corner, and at Hidden Thorn, whose whereabouts even he did not know, putting on an act as if he knew everything.

He then pointed casually in the air, and a black doorway appeared out of thin air. Wen Wen nonchalantly entered with Wu Wang, disappearing from sight.

As the doorway vanished, so did the invisible pressure.

Hidden Thorn reappeared, his bandages soaked with sweat. Exchanging glances with Metal Frenzy, they both revealed wry smiles.

For Hua Shan City, this was indeed a battle of Immortals, far greater than any provincial crisis, leaving them nothing to do but watch in helpless frustration.

...

Upon opening his eyes, Wu Wang found himself sitting on a cold floor, in a huge, empty cell.

However, he was not dead, and there were other monsters around him, suffering the same fate, prompting him to burst into laughter.

He did not know what he was laughing at; he just felt like laughing.

Tao Qingqing playing video games, Faceless Demon playing with face-changing in the mirror, Angel of Universal Light kneeling in prayer, Little Red Riding Hood pretending to be an adult by applying makeup...

With so many interesting monsters here, he supposed he wouldn’t be too bored in the future.

Soon after, Wu Wang spotted the Shark Warrior, the Fish Monster that had driven him to desperation, now beaten to a pulp and immobilized in the cell next to him.

He pointed at the Shark Warrior and burst into laughter again, laughing so hard his stomach ached, his laughter echoing throughout the Disaster Area.

Then, his laughter was silenced by the Water Tadpole, the Central Administrator of the third layer...
