Chapter 416: Chapter 414: Calamities Without Fault

In the depths of the ocean, an ancient god as massive as mountains slumbered.

The seawater around the ancient god was held up by its immense power, forming a peculiar air pocket.

An ancient race of Fishmen, known as the Zeolite Clan, thrived and built a monumental underwater city around this god; that city was Oye Water City!

This place was teeming with countless unimaginable monsters and the whole of the Zeolite Clan, where every creature worshipped the slumbering deity, nearly as vast as the city itself.

The name of this ancient god was—Ensook!

He slept in the deep sea, and on the destined day written in fate, he would awaken from his slumber to bring about a great catastrophe to this planet!

Even in his sleep, Ensook still watched over the world in his unique way.

He could issue incomprehensible chants in dreams, using these to convey messages that would only drive ordinary creatures to madness and mutation.

Therefore, the creatures of Oye Water City seldom slept unless necessary, for staying too long in dreams could drive them into utter insanity!

There were also a few fortunate monsters who were able to sleep within Oye Water City; they could decipher the commands within the chants and govern the entire Oye Water City based on those commands.

These chosen ones were known as Devout Chanters.

A few months ago, the ancient god Ensook, in a dream, issued an order through a Devout Chanter, which was to bring a human named Wu Wang back to Oye Water City!

Each dream of the ancient god pinpointed Wu Wang’s location, and the underwater monsters pursued Wu Wang based on this command.

Ben Bo’er and Bapoer, two monsters of the Zeolite Clan, followed the team capturing Wu Wang and came to the world above water.

In the process of capture, they found that the world above was far more delightful than staying up all night in the ancient city, so they simply feigned death and escaped from the team pursuing Wu Wang.

But the two unfamiliar Fish Monsters could not comfortably live in the world above water, and by a twist of fate, they became reserve members of the Corrupt Blood.

...

"Tsk, Oye Water City, ancient god Ensook... incredibly remarkable."

After hearing the narration, Wen Wen stroked his chin in amazement, finding it hard to imagine what a city under the sea could possibly look like.

"Also, what level of monster might ancient god Ensook be... could it be Calamity Level?"

Wen Wen then shook his head, as he hadn’t found any record of Calamity Level beings invading reality in the material he had seen.

The word ’deity’ could describe not only Calamity Level beings, but fittingly also Catastrophe-Level creatures, whose power was already comparable to the deities in common mythologies.

As for Calamity-Level beings, no one had truly seen them, but just from the descriptions alone, Wen Wen knew each was akin to the creator worshiped by the founding church!

However, what most intrigued Wen Wen was not Oye Water City or the ancient god Ensook.

It was Wu Wang!

He had once again received news of Wu Wang from these two Fish Monsters; he had been on the task of capturing Game Maniac for a long time but had not found any clues about Wu Wang.

Initially, Wen Wen was too weak to confront that man and had to keep a safe distance, but now having obtained news of him again, Wen Wen’s first thought was to go and kill him.

But what does Wu Wang have to do with Oye Water City?

Therefore, Wen Wen asked in detail about the matter and finally figured out what was going on.

The sleeping Ancient God Ensook was a mountain-sized monster, with a massive body, an octopus-like head, and ragged bat-like wings...

Wen Wen was actually quite familiar with this appearance. Back in the Corrupted District, the creature that was incubating inside Grandi’s body that Wen Wen saw in the Illusionary Realm he was pulled into was of this very form!

Back then, that creature had asked for Wen Wen’s name, and under the physique of a Curly-haired Baboon, the name he mentioned was apparently Wu Wang...

"Hiss... Did that guy take the calamity in my stead?"

"But the fellow didn’t succeed in descending back then, so why is there still such a body in the deep sea?"

"Does Ensook have the ability to locate anyone based on their name? Then I should never use my real name when causing trouble in the future. I never expected that Wu Wang would actually use his real name..."

Once Wen Wen understood the situation, he temporarily set aside his thoughts of pursuing Wu Wang.

If he dealt with Wu Wang and got discovered by that what’s-his-name Ensook, that would be terrible.

After the interrogation, Wen Wen handed over all the intelligence he had obtained from Ben Bo’er and Bapoer about Profane Blood to Heng An.

After receiving the intelligence, Heng An set out alone carrying a pack, his hunt had now begun.

Though he only had Disaster Level strength, his strength would grow through the challenges of the hunt, and he would definitely become a major problem for Profane Blood.

...

After dealing with all the miscellaneous affairs, Wen Wen hesitated for a moment, then went to find the man in the metal suit.

Before seeing the power of Corrupt Blood, Wen Wen felt that his Disaster Intermediate Sequence strength was sufficient, so he wasn’t particularly anxious about enhancing his strength.

But having seen Corrupt Blood successfully withstand the force of the Calamity Prison Supervisor, and remaining completely unharmed, Wen Wen deeply felt that staying at this level was very dangerous.

However, with the existence of a power barrier, without awakening a power of his own, no matter how hard he tried to capture monsters, his strength would only reach the level of Assimilation Mid-Sequence.

He learned about the power barrier from the man in the metal suit, uncertain if he might have a way to awaken Wen Wen’s abilities.

Speaking of which, the existence of the Central Administrators like the man in the metal suit had always been mysterious.

Initially, Wen Wen thought they were just some kind of artificial intelligence, but as he reclaimed more authority over the Sanctuary from Wen Li, these Central Administrators’ intelligence and strength grew increasingly complex and powerful.

If they truly were artificial intelligences, then why bother capturing monsters if a Sanctuary could casually create artificial intelligences with Disaster Level strength?

Were it not for their complete compliance with Wen Wen’s commands and that Wen Wen had authority over them, he would not lower his guard towards these Central Administrators.

One thing Wen Wen was sure of was that there were undoubtedly secrets unknown to anyone else inside the minds of these Central Administrators.

They were the only intelligent beings Wen Wen knew of, left over from the previous Sanctuary, and probably only they knew what the former Sanctuary was really like.

Pondering all the way, Wen Wen had already arrived in front of the man in the metal suit, and he directly asked, "If I want to awaken the Supernatural Power, what should I do?"
