Chapter 371: Chapter 369: One-on-One Challenge

The battle between the Angel of Universal Light and Yan Biqing was going well, but the others were not so lucky.

Little Red Riding Hood’s red cloak had almost been completely burned away, but her hat remained intact.

Although this red and black robe was not her own little cape, it was at least a red hat, so she focused on protecting her own hat.

At the moment, she was chasing down a Disaster Level demon while dragging along a Calamity Level demon.

Without her little cloak, even with a weapon in hand, she still had some difficulty matching up with a regular Disaster Level monster, so she was quickly driven into a dead end by Matilda.

Among the Faceless Demon’s four Disaster Level subordinates, the Little Flame Demon was of superior strength and easily overpowered Little Red Riding Hood.

But after the Devouring Demon was killed and the Fear Hand Demon was captured, Matilda ceased her attack on Little Red Riding Hood and turned to flee. Since she lacked the strength, Little Red Riding Hood was unable to stop the Little Flame Demon’s escape.

Now, apart from Wen Wen’s battle with the Faceless Demon, the largest scene of battle was that between the Steel Body Demon and the Underground Palace Monster.

The two purely physical monsters collided fiercely, hammering away at each other like mad, but these two were more defensive than offensive, so despite the loud commotion, neither beast took much damage.

The other demons fighting nearby, however, suffered collateral damage—sometimes getting caught in the crossfire and easily crushed to pieces.

The other Disaster Level monsters’ hunting was also coming to an end. Many monsters began to spontaneously collect things left behind by the demons, as well as their severed limbs.

Every part of a demon’s body is valuable, not a single piece should go to waste.

...

The intense battle lasted for nearly half an hour, and both Wen Wen and the Faceless Demon were breathing heavily.

The Faceless Demon said to Wen Wen, "Give up. Our strengths are similar, and the Hunters Association is about to arrive."

The Monster Study shook a few times, and Wen Wen revealed an understanding expression.

During battle, it was impossible to check the Monster Study for messages, so the device had different vibration frequencies to convey specific information.

The vibrations just now meant that reinforcements would arrive within half an hour!

So Wen Wen smiled and said, "Heh heh... I did enjoy our fight, but I’m indeed getting a bit tired of it, so it’s about time for this battle to end."

Upon hearing this, the Faceless Demon’s countenance brightened; realizing that his subordinates were either fleeing or being defeated, he long lost the desire to continue fighting to the death with Wen Wen.

But Wen Wen controlled the rhythm of the battle; it wasn’t up to the Faceless Demon to decide when to leave.

"So, how about we both back off thirty meters and then call it quits?" the Faceless Demon tentatively asked.

Wen Wen laughed maliciously and said, "Don’t get me wrong, when I say it’s time to end, I mean I don’t want to play with you any longer, and it’s time to crush you!"

Reliance on the Philosophy Bracelet alone made it somewhat difficult for Wen Wen to take down a Disaster Intermediate Sequence monster like the Faceless Demon.

But Wen Wen’s strength was never solely in the Philosophy Bracelet.

He snapped his fingers, and all the monsters scattered throughout the residential district were pulled into the Sanctuary by Wen Wen, then with another snap of his fingers, four Disaster Level monsters appeared behind him!

Wen Wen sneered and charged towards the Faceless Demon, with the Angel of Universal Light even more eager than Wen Wen. The other three monsters reluctantly glanced at each other and followed Wen Wen into the fray.

The Faceless Demon’s roars of rage echoed as it struggled desperately, but in the end, it was captured by everyone.

Its strength was on par with Wen Wen’s, and plus the gang-up by four Disaster Level monsters, it simply had no power to fight back. In the end, its limbs were broken, and it was pressed down in front of Wen Wen.

"You despicable coward, fight me one-on-one if you dare!" the Faceless Demon protested bitterly as it glared at Wen Wen. If Wen Wen hadn’t called in reinforcements to beat him up in a group, there was no way he’d have been defeated so quickly.

Wen Wen smirked and said, "This is one-on-one, alright. It started with just you and me, and now it’s you against the five of us."

The Faceless Demon was at a loss for words, feeling this guy was shameless beyond belief.

The Angel of Universal Light formed a Light Saber in his hand, swinging it down at the Faceless Demon’s head. He actually dared to attempt to kill the Faceless Demon right in front of Wen Wen!

Regrettably, his hand was caught by Yan Biqing, making it impossible to reach the Faceless Demon.

Wen Wen gave Yan Biqing an approving look, then with a ferocious expression, he dragged the Angel of Universal Light back to the Sanctuary.

He gritted his teeth and said, "This brat still won’t behave. He needs a good education. When it’s time for Monster Study, I’m going to double his homework!"

"And for the next few days, it’s extra meals, roast wings every day!"

Seeing Wen Wen’s fierce expression, Little Red Riding Hood couldn’t help but feel a bit of sympathy for the Angel of Universal Light. Being targeted by this guy was definitely not a stroke of luck.

"Pathetic, can’t even keep your subordinates in line. Seems like there’s nothing so great about your Black Cross after all," the Faceless Demon, now reduced to talking big while sprawled on the ground, mocked Wen Wen.

"It’s fine, keep talking all you like. After all, you’ll be one of them soon!" Wen Wen said to the Faceless Demon with magnanimity.

Hearing Wen Wen’s words, the Faceless Demon suddenly thought of a possibility. Could it be that all these monsters claiming to be Black Cross were captives of this man before him?

This thought made the Faceless Demon worry about its own future.

Wen Wen took the box off the Faceless Demon and opened it to find six dolls inside. He then asked, "So if I destroy these things, those people turning into demons can be reverted, right?"

The Faceless Demon turned its head away, not answering Wen Wen’s question.

Wen Wen snorted coldly and smashed the dolls one by one. He already knew that destroying these ’eggs’ would stop the transformation and they would turn back into regular people, a fact he had learned while Qin Shuang was devouring these things.

Yan Biqing shook his head, thinking the Faceless Demon had really chosen the wrong path. The more it bragged now, the more sincere it would need to be when begging for mercy later.

After dealing with the doll-like shells, Wen Wen’s pursuit of the demons’ purpose was completed, so he released the black chains and dragged the immobile Faceless Demon into the Sanctuary.

He checked the time, noting that the Hunters Association’s people would be arriving soon. He gathered all the monsters into the Sanctuary and changed into normal clothes.

Then, on the outskirts of the Demon Residential District, he found a safe spot to let Wang Junyi and the others out and tied them up.

On the way, he captured a Disaster Level demon, planning to hand it over to the members of the Hunters Association outside to lend some credibility to his façade.

Actually, the Demon Hunter team from Lu Gang City had arrived halfway through the fight, but none of them dared to enter the factory area. Instead, they had sparsely cordoned off the perimeter.

The demons didn’t even need to clash with them when escaping, though with their strength, even if the Hunters did try to stop the breakout, it probably wouldn’t matter.
