Chapter 360: Chapter 358: Furious Catnip Qi
Wang Junyi stared blankly as Wen Wen suddenly appeared and began talking to himself at the window. Unable to hold back, he asked, "Detective Wen, what has happened?"
Seeing that the demon had already started heading upstairs, Wen Wen said to Wang Junyi, "Things are a bit beyond my expectations. For your safety, I’ll have to inconvenience you for a while. Please, fall unconscious for a bit."
Having said that, like a specter, he knocked out Wang Junyi, Yu Hui, and Wang Zixuan, and after sending all three of them to the Sanctuary, a knocking sound began.
Wen Wen hesitated for a moment but then, along with Three Cubs, entered the Sanctuary. Before fully understanding the situation, he decided to postpone his actions against the demons for the time being.
Back in the Sanctuary, Wen Wen began examining the little button from Rodney. If the button were an electronic communication device, then Wen Wen could use it to directly find the other party’s location.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the device used technology beyond Wen Wen’s understanding and did not transmit information via electronic signals.
"Well, I can only interrogate that demon now."
...
In the dim and damp cell, Rodney was hung up and still unconscious.
Wen Wen sat on a chair munching on a watermelon, while Xu Hai held a small water gun, spraying Rodney’s face with ’hiss... hiss...’ two streams of Holy Water.
The Holy Water touched Rodney’s skin, instantly evaporated, and made his skin appear as if it were being scorched, causing the unconscious Rodney to finally wake up amidst severe pain.
"Where is this... ah, don’t hit me!"
Upon seeing Wen Wen, Rodney reflexively tried to protect his face, but he found that all his movable parts were tied up, including his limbs and all tentacles.
"Xu Hai, let him come to his senses first, then I’ll ask the questions," Wen Wen instructed.
With a sly grin, Xu Hai said, "Sure thing, great master."
Then he picked up various unique tools and began to attend to Rodney.
The old Xu Hai enjoyed using living things to create puppets and was so perverted that Wen Wen couldn’t catch up to him even on a rocket. Moreover, coming from the Inner World, Xu Hai was more familiar with monsters, so Wen Wen let him interrogate Rodney through torture.
Listening to Rodney’s screams, Wen Wen found the watermelon exceptionally sweet, so he opened a bottle of red wine to savor quietly. Hmm... the red wine was contributed to the Containment Officers’ meeting by Feng Ruixing.
Wen Wen thought it tasted good, so he took it all for himself to drink. As compensation, he also casually provided a barrel of fine red wine from the Cat-Ear Cup to the meeting.
"Stop torturing me, I’ll tell you anything, I promise to cooperate honestly without playing any tricks," Rodney pleaded miserably.
"Your will is not very strong, is it?" Wen Wen said, walking over to Rodney with the watermelon in hand.
Demons, as a species, are extremely compliant with agreements on one hand, but have no principles on the other. They will abide by the agreements they have made, but if there’s no agreement, they are capable of doing anything.
Wen Wen was quite satisfied with his attitude. Such a companion was probably what enemies liked best. He patted Rodney’s face with the watermelon rind and asked, "Tell me, where is your base, how many people are there, and what are their strengths?"
Upon hearing Wen Wen’s questions, Rodney’s face turned into a bitter gourd, "Lord, I really cannot answer those questions. How about you ask me something else?"
Wen Wen’s expression tightened, "It seems you are still being stubborn, Xu Hai, let him ’enjoy’ it some more."
Seeing Xu Hai ready to go, Rodney hurriedly said, "Sir, listen to me, no one understands the nature of us demons better than demons themselves, so to ensure we don’t betray, we sign a coercive contract when we join."
"Anything we deem might harm the safety of the group, we truly can’t tell you. But I can tell you how many concubines my boss has, what kind of flowers he likes to play with..."
"What use is it for me to know how many concubines your boss has, are you insane..."
Wen Wen slapped a piece of watermelon rind on Rodney’s face, and just as he was about to flare up, he paused, his eyes lit up, and then he said to Rodney, "You can’t talk about what you think might harm the group’s safety, but can you talk about what you think won’t harm group safety?"
Rodney nodded earnestly as if pecking rice, "Yes, as long as it’s something I’m allowed to say, I can tell you anything you want."
Wen Wen ignored his nonsense and began to figure out how he could obtain information from Rodney’s mouth.
Since they wouldn’t answer questions they believed might reveal important information, all he had to do was make them think the questions posed would not reveal important information.
And that required making Rodney lose his sanity!
This was easy for Wen Wen. He picked up the Staff of Frenzy and aimed the tip at Rodney’s head, channeling the staff’s stored crimson frenzy into his mind.
After only a small amount was entered, Wen Wen stopped, figuring that should be enough to dismantle Rodney’s sanity without making him so mad he knew nothing at all.
"What have you done to me!"
Rodney struggled frantically, gaining courage in the face of Wen Wen, even making Xu Hai step back involuntarily. Just when Wen Wen thought he might have overdone it with the frenzy, Rodney’s behavior became a bit abnormal.
"This feeling... it’s really nice, can you give me some more?" His eyeballs couldn’t help rolling upward, and his face displayed an epileptic-like smile, obviously high to the extreme.
Wen Wen stroked his chin, "He looks like a little wild cat that has snorted catnip. Could my frenzy have the same effect on monsters?"
With this thought, Wen Wen prodded Xu Hai beside him with the staff, injecting a tiny amount of frenzy.
After receiving the dose of frenzy, Xu Hai’s gaze became blurry, his body shaking unnaturally for a moment. Once the small dose of frenzy wore off, he looked at Wen Wen with longing.
Wen Wen understood this desire because when he unleashed his own mania, it really could get to the utmost high; heaven knows how much willpower it took to maintain the semblance of a normal person.
"So the frenzy that can drive ordinary people insane, if applied in small amounts to monsters, really effects like catnip... I wonder if it works on Tao Qingqing and the others as well?"
After discovering this alternative use of frenzy, Wen Wen was eager to experiment further, but the most important thing now was to extract information from these demons.
He chuckled and asked Rodney, "Aside from carrying out missions, what do you do most when you leave your base? Answer me, and you’ll get to feel good again."
Rodney answered without hesitation, "Go to the closest seafood restaurant to buy pretty little female octopuses..."
"And what’s the name of this seafood restaurant?"
"Sea Banquet Hall..."
