Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 342 - 340

Chapter 342: 340

Seeing that they were so capable and not needing his assistance, Wen Wen made an excuse to investigate hidden dangers and left the center of the town.

He found a secluded spot, where he let out Li Dazhuang and Tao Wen, who was still unconscious.

"It’s safe here now. The main culprit has been dealt with. You just need to wait for the Hunters Association to arrive. When they do, they’ll invite you to join—don’t refuse," Wen Wen said indifferently.

"Did you resolve this matter?"

Li Dazhuang’s eyes shone as he looked at Wen Wen—having been rescued by Wen Wen several times before, he had become a fan of Wen Wen.

Wen Wen smiled without a word, neither rejecting nor acknowledging the claim, leaving the two of them there and continued to stroll around the town.

"Since he didn’t refuse, it must definitely have been him who resolved it. I also want to become someone like Detective Wen... Hmm, starting with the perverts!"

Looking at Wen Wen’s retreating figure, Li Dazhuang’s eyes were filled with admiration, and then a smile similar to Wen Wen’s appeared on his lips.

After smiling for a while, he rubbed the corners of his mouth and said, "Worthy of being Detective Wen, even his smile is tough for others to match."

Wen Wen walked the streets of Fairy Tale Town with his hands behind his back. At this moment, most of the townspeople had been gathered in the center of Fairy Tale Town by Song Ling, which left many places deserted.

"This monitor is nice, it’s mine now."

"This computer has a good configuration, it’s mine now."

"This heart-shaped pink bed looks great, it’s also mine now!"

"Tsk... That statue is sexy, I’ll have Xu Hai make me a real one later..."

Anything that caught Wen Wen’s fancy, he would take it to the Sanctuary, and there were many such things in the vast Fairy Tale Town.

Aside from furniture, even the town’s food supplies warehouse had half its contents taken by Wen Wen—although most of the food might be questionable, Wen Wen wasn’t going to eat it himself, but feed it to the monsters.

The Association was going to flatten this place soon anyway, it was better for Wen Wen to take these things than to let the Association loot them and sell them off cheaply.

As a Ranger, he already had the right to handle his spoils of war. Even if someone discovered him looting here, nobody would come after him for it.

While happily scavenging, the keen-eared and sharp-eyed Wen Wen heard some discordant noises, so he leapt onto the rooftops to observe the situation on the street opposite.

"Where has that bastard hidden himself?" a slightly overweight young man said angrily.

A young man with monster-like arms smashed a stone and said, "We must find them. They took advantage of us when we were out of it; they went too far. Now that we’re powerful, we must get our revenge."

"What I’m most unhappy about is why other people can enjoy themselves here while we were controlled and forced to labor for those monsters, even though we single dogs are more pitiful than those people," a horse-faced youth added.

After he spoke, the others agreed with him.

All of them were humans trapped here, wondering why the ones coupled up got to feast while they could only nibble on steamed buns, such unequal treatment made them feel extremely unfair.

As they were indignantly discussing, they were unaware that Wen Wen was secretly watching from the shadows.

They were a group of Poker Soldiers who, just like Tao Wen, had been controlled humans, but now that they had gained strength through Song Ling’s arrangements, their control had vanished.

They were ordered by Song Ling to maintain order here and bring anyone they found to the center of town, which is why Wen Wen had run into them.

"It seems they want to get revenge on the monsters that bullied them before... Well, I’ll let them be."

The youngsters had turned the place upside down but found nothing, and so they left in a huff.

Wen Wen also began to continue the search, but suddenly he stopped in his tracks, curiously looking at a section of the floor.

Where the youngsters had been stepping, a strange thing was emerging from the floor, looking like a portrait of a person.

After coming out of the ground, the body of this portrait swelled up, turning into a figure wearing a poker coat, but his outfit was much more refined than that of the youngsters before him.

He was the overseer of all the Poker Soldiers, the Poker General!

Before the incident in Fairy Tale Town, he was in charge of maintaining public order in the town, with a group of mind-controlled Poker Soldiers under his command.

Although he was instructed not to kill anyone, he enjoyed tormenting his subordinates, so he gave those youngsters a hard time, which was why they specifically came seeking revenge on him.

"Tch, if I hadn’t been trying to avoid drawing attention and waited for an opportunity to sneak out, would I be afraid of you losers finding me?" the Poker General scornfully said, watching the direction in which the youths had left.

Even though the Poker Soldiers had gained Strength, and his own strength had plummeted to a very low level, he could still easily crush those soldiers.

After all, he was once a Disaster Level Monster, and although he now had fallen to Disaster Level, those guys still couldn’t easily push him around.

"You’re not afraid of them finding you, but what about me?"

Like a ghost, Wen Wen landed curiously behind him and inquired.

Previously, the higher-ups of Fairy Tale Town were supposed to be summoned to the center by Song Ling, so why was this guy hiding here all by himself?

"Who, who..."

Startled by the sound as if he were a frightened bird, the Poker General almost jumped in fright but regained his composure and immediately flicked several poker cards at Wen Wen.

The poker cards flew towards Wen Wen like darts, but with a slight forward gesture of his hand, a transparent light screen emerged in front of him, blocking all the cards.

"These poker cards are even more powerful than ordinary bullets," Wen Wen said, his eyes lighting up after experiencing their power.

An attack slightly more powerful than ordinary bullets was, in fact, only so-so to Wen Wen, barely better than nothing.

But the symbolic meaning was much greater than its practicality. To Wen Wen, using poker cards as weapons was so cool that he immediately took an interest in the Poker General.

For a Monster, being noticed by Wen Wen meant the arrival of tragedy.

Wen Wen flashed forward, appearing right beside the Poker General and threw a punch at his chest.

Somehow, the Poker General managed to make his body slippery and elusive, dissipating some of the force from Wen Wen’s punch.

Had it been the Poker General at his prime, he could have dodged Wen Wen’s attack using this move, but now unable to dispel all of Wen Wen’s Strength, he was hammered and sent flying.

As he was flying, his body suddenly became flat, dissipating most of the force, enabling him to land smoothly.

After landing, his body swelled back to its original form, looking at Wen Wen with great alarm.

He knew he was in trouble this time and hurriedly lunged toward an adjacent room. He didn’t open the door; instead, he squeezed directly through the crack of the door into the room!

"Tsk, that was quite clever, just like an old sow in armor, set after set," Wen Wen said with a smirk.
