Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 244 - 242: Containment Officer Heng An

Chapter 244: Chapter 242: Containment Officer Heng An

After the sharp pain had passed, Heng An lay on the ground, gazing up at the star-studded night sky, and laughed aloud.

In those four months, aside from mocking that old hag, Heng An had not laughed in a long time.

"It seems that it really was the organization called the Catastrophe Containment Facility that rescued me, but I thought I would be lying in a hospital bed when I woke up..."

Thinking of the Catastrophe Containment Facility, Heng An suddenly remembered Wen Wen, who had saved him, that strange garb, giving him a sense of foreboding.

He quickly felt around on his body, and finding no changes, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Had he really been changed into fresh clothes and laid in a bed, that scene would have frightened him instead.

Just thinking of the possible scenes that could have played out, Heng An broke out in goosebumps.

"You’ve finally awakened."

The familiar voice reached him, and Heng An quickly sat up, only to see a figure in a black robe standing in the tree behind him.

A gentle breeze fluttered his robe lightly, and the moon hung behind him with a slight white halo.

Heng An was briefly stunned; Wen Wen now looked like a deity out of myth!

Well, to create such a dramatic entrance, Wen Wen had shifted positions several times.

"Thank you for rescuing me from that place. If you need my help in the future, just say the word, and I will not refuse," Heng An said sincerely. He had been locked up for four months in that dark pit, and for a long time, he had thought he would never get out.

Wen Wen replied, "There is only one thing we need your help with, and that is to join the Catastrophe Containment Facility."

Heng An hesitated before asking, "I have one question before that, how did I get these injuries on my body, and why do I feel so weak?"

"..."

Wen Wen was slightly embarrassed because the injuries on Heng An’s body were all caused by him.

"During the process of bringing you back, we were intercepted by a superpower user, so you sustained some injuries, but it’s nothing serious."

Heng An nodded and said, "Alright, then, I agree to join your Sanctuary."

He agreed very readily, so readily that it slightly shocked Wen Wen, who had thought it would take some convincing.

"Why did you agree so readily this time?"

Feeling a bit restless, Heng An said while lying on the ground, "Didn’t you save me just to have me join you? Now I agree to your request—it’s a fair exchange."

Wen Wen nodded, it seemed Heng An was a person of clear debts and gratitude.

"By the way, what happened to the people who captured me before?" Heng An suddenly asked.

"They are part of Profane Blood. The Hunter Association is currently routing them, but such organizations won’t be so easily destroyed; many must have escaped," Wen Wen replied.

"Some escaped..."

Heng An stood up, his eyes very bright as he looked at Wen Wen and said, "You said before, the duty of the Catastrophe Containment Facility is to discover threats, control threats, and contain threats. So, does an organization like Profane Blood count as a threat?"

Wen Wen was taken aback for a moment; Heng An’s energy seemed a bit different.

"Of course, they are a threat!"

Heng An nodded, "Good, I will seek them out again!"

Wen Wen frowned and said, "You’re planning to trouble them, aren’t you, but you must know that they are far more dangerous than the average monster. Are you mentally prepared for this?"

An ordinary superpower user seeking trouble with Profane Blood was not a wise choice.

Heng An chuckled lightly and said, "When I was confined there before, more than once I thought that if one day I could escape, then I must find them and make them pay!"

Wen Wen no longer tried to persuade him but instead said to him, "However, before that, you must sign a contract."

He extended his hand towards Heng An, and a contract, looking like parchment, floated in front of Heng An.

Heng An didn’t hesitate and signed his name directly on the contract.

The moment his name was finished, the parchment burned away into nothingness, and the contract was established.

Now Heng An was indeed a member of the Catastrophe Containment Facility.

Heng An looked at Wen Wen and asked, "The contract is signed, so what should I do next?"

Wen Wen took a step back, and Black Chains emanated from his hands, then in a mysterious tone he said, "Next, you will step into a different world!"

The Black Chains turned into a large net, enveloping Heng An, who offered no resistance but closed his eyes instead.

Normally, Wen Wen should first allow Heng An’s soul to enter the Sanctuary for a handover, followed by his physical body.

But now, with Heng An right beside Wen Wen, he saved some complicated steps.

Once inside, Wen Wen smiled at him and said, "Welcome to the Catastrophe Containment Facility!"

Upon hearing that voice, Heng An opened his eyes and found himself in a large, bright space.

At the center of the space stood a man in a suit made of metallic particles, who was waving at him.

Heng An looked back and saw Wen Wen nod at him, then walked confidently towards the man in the suit.

The man in the suit handed Heng An his uniform, badge, and chains, then bowed to Heng An, "Welcome to the Catastrophe Containment Facility, Disaster Containment Officer 72583, Mr. Heng An."

Heng An also quickly bowed and said to the man in the suit, "Thank you, thank you."

The man in the suit smiled and helped Heng An up. This Containment Officer was the one he was most optimistic about; Gong Baoding was too old, and Feng Ruixing was too weak.

At the beginning of his creation, he was without consciousness and emotion.

However, having journeyed with the Sanctuary through thousands of years of trials and tribulations, he had developed deep affection for this place, it’s just that his form of existence made it difficult to express these feelings.

Having received his belongings, Heng An began to excitedly play with them.

Once he was done, Wen Wen walked over and threw two items to Heng An: a Wristband and a horn.

"These two items are weapons for your self-defense. The Wristband can command an invisible person, who possesses the Strength of several ghosts merged together, and the horn can cause sonic damage when blown."

Immediately, Heng An put down the officer’s uniform and began studying the two items Wen Wen gave him.

Although he had been tormented by Profane Blood for four months, his own edges had never been worn down; he still possessed a youthful spirit.

It was precisely because he could maintain his self in that environment that Wen Wen had chosen him as a Containment Officer.

’In a little while, the Central Administrator will explain some basic knowledge every superpower user should know. Find me after you’re done with that."

Having said that, Wen Wen disappeared on the spot, and Heng An didn’t pay much mind.

The man in the metallic suit, however, shook his head in secret. Of course, he knew where Wen Wen had gone off to—he had just handed Wen Wen the key to Heng An’s room...
