Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 224 - 222 Hunting Game
Chapter 224: Chapter 222 Hunting Game
This thing alone has that kind of power; with five together, does he want to kill people?
Wen Wen’s scalp tingled, and he hurried over to restrain his head and arm, capturing him.
"What are you doing, trying to get us all killed?"
Chu Wei complained, "Hey, I told you to keep an eye on them and not to disturb me. Now you’re the one disturbing me. If we don’t deal with this thing, none of you can leave here alive."
He broke free from Wen Wen and tried to continue, only to discover that Wen Wen had snatched away the small bag he carried with him.
Wen Wen opened the bag, took a glance, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. The bag was full of dangerous items like gum bombs, enough for a direct trip to the police station if found during his detective days.
He coldly said to Chu Wei, "From now on, I’m taking over here. Dealing with Containment Items with brute force won’t work."
Chu Wei, with hands on his hips, said, "Brute force won’t work? It’s just because the brute force isn’t enough. I have enough bombs to blow this place flat... But, how do you know about Containment Items?"
Wen Wen sighed and said, "You idiot, of course I know because I’m also a Demon Hunter!"
Wen Wen had to return the insult he just received.
Wen Wen no longer cared about hiding his identity. If he kept hiding it, this guy would mess everything up.
Originally, seeing Chu Wei acting all tactical and tough, Wen Wen thought he was a fierce character, but now realized he was just a joke...
"From now on, don’t do anything. Just leave everything to me."
Chu Wei protested, "You better not interfere. My boss said if I handle a dangerous Containment Item, I’d be allowed to take the Ranger assessment!"
Wen Wen turned his head, widened his eyes, and stared at Chu Wei, "You, taking the Ranger assessment?"
"That’s right. Show some respect. I am a powerful superpower user in the Assimilation Realm..."
Wen Wen rolled his eyes and ignored him, holding the Custodian Badge, a map of the terrain that only he could see appeared out of thin air.
This map did not show an area as big as a fifty-meter radius, only this hostel.
This meant that whether the hostel was an independent space or not, it was truly cut off from the outside.
Then, Wen Wen patted the Three Cubs around his neck, which slithered down from his neck and coiled around Chu Wei.
"Watch him and don’t let him make trouble for me."
"Eh... what is this thing, so slippery and disgusting."
Just as Chu Wei was about to remove the Three Cubs, its body suddenly elongated, wrapping him up like a rope, binding him firmly.
The Three Cubs was no longer the weak little snake it used to be, but now a Three-Eyed Illusion Snake that could change its form at will.
Wen Wen walked over to the statue and touched the spot that had been bombed, noting that there wasn’t even a small dent on it.
"It seems this thing must have indestructible properties. Anyway, let’s try to contain it."
Wen Wen glanced around, walked to the window, and took down the curtains, obtaining four rods and four pieces of drapery.
Nobody stopped Wen Wen during the process; they only watched his every move.
To them, Chu Wei, who couldn’t be killed, was just as frightening as this deadly game, and Wen Wen, who could subdue Chu Wei, was hardly any better.
Next, Wen Wen inserted the four rods into the floor, creating a frame, and then draped the curtains over it, completely enclosing the statue.
"Given the rudimentary conditions, this will have to do."
Wen Wen stretched out his hand towards the statue. Black chains emerged in succession, binding it in an attempt to drag it into the Sanctuary.
But the thing didn’t budge an inch.
"As expected, things are never that simple."
This thing wasn’t resisting the Sanctuary; now, its containment failure could have two possibilities.
Either the Containment Item exceeded the limit of the Sanctuary’s capabilities, which Wen Wen deemed unlikely,
or this was not the main body of the Containment Item, or to say, this was only a part of it.
"So, the problem must lie with those few people outside, just as Chu Wei said, those three people have survived several rounds, which is clearly not normal."
Wen Wen drew back the curtains, his gaze sharp as he observed the people outside.
Wu Fengxia still wore a look of worry, and the old man kept sighing; they appeared to be in great distress.
But, if normal people found themselves in such a situation, should that be their expression?
The guy hiding in the corner should have the normal reaction, right?
In their expressions, elements of helplessness outweighed those of fear.
Wen Wen didn’t believe that the two of them were nonchalant about life and death, so there was something off about them.
But the one with the biggest problem wasn’t the two of them, it was the little girl who never raised her head, and the object she was holding was also suspicious.
Wen Wen walked over, squatted in front of the girl, and with a smile said, "Could you let brother see what you’re holding?"
The little girl shook her head, her voice tender as she said, "Brother doesn’t seem nice, I won’t let brother see."
The smile on Wen Wen’s face froze, he stood up and walked to Chu Wei, ordering Three Cubs to release him.
"That girl has something in her hands that may be the key for us to get out of here. Go and snatch it back for me."
Chu Wei’s eyes widened in question, "Why do I have to do such a thing?"
Wen Wen said coldly, "There is no reason, it’s just that I don’t want to snatch something from a little girl."
"You don’t want to snatch so you ask me to do it?" Chu Wei’s nose was nearly askew with indignation.
Wen Wen held up a fist and said, "Then... shall we play rock-paper-scissors?"
Eventually, Chu Wei headed toward the little girl. His luck was rotten; he almost always lost bets.
However, that wasn’t why he gave in; he realized that Wen Wen might indeed be slightly more professional than him, um, just slightly.
"Little sister, can you let me see what you have?" Chu Wei tried to speak as gently as possible.
The little girl looked up at Chu Wei and said in an innocent tone, "Uncle doesn’t seem like a person; I won’t let uncle see."
Chu Wei froze on the spot for two seconds, then promptly grabbed the little girl’s collar, lifted her up, and attempted to forcibly take it.
Wen Wen was a brother, he was an uncle; Wen Wen didn’t seem nice, but he outright didn’t seem human, how could he tolerate that.
Just as he reached out to the little girl, the statue eerily came to life, extending a hand towards Chu Wei and releasing a transparent energy from within.
Wen Wen’s figure shifted abruptly, using his right hand to shield against the energy, absorbing it.
"This energy is roughly the strength of a bottom-tier Disaster Level; it seems this Containment Item isn’t that strong after all, but just has some special properties."
Next, the statue launched several attacks, all of which were blocked by Wen Wen.
Hmm... ordinary people would be completely unaware of this energy, so to them, Wen Wen appeared to be dancing awkwardly.
Under Wen Wen’s protection, Chu Wei easily snatched the box from the little girl’s hands and handed it to Wen Wen.
The moment Wen Wen saw the cover of the box, his eyes narrowed. The pattern on the box was an exact match for this motel!
Four bold characters were printed on the box: ’Hunting Game’!
