Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 222 - 220: Death Game

Chapter 222: Chapter 220: Death Game

Generally speaking, in normal life, the probability of encountering supernatural events is not high.

So at first, Wen Wen didn’t think about this possibility.

But who knew he would be so lucky as to stumble upon a supernatural case?

Right, for Wen Wen, this was luck; his hands had been itching for action.

He had no idea what Level the Containment Item was, and the superpower user seemed to be of Disaster Level based on their aura.

However, Wen Wen wasn’t careless; he was instead very vigilant and cautious.

Complacency is the beginning of failure, and failure means death.

Although Wen Wen had always been reckless, he always tried not to put himself in potentially fatal danger.

He planned to first probe the young man to see what his capabilities were, whether he was friend or foe, and if he had any connection to the Containment Item.

However, before Wen Wen could make a move, he saw a middle-aged man with a scar on his face, wielding a cleaver, charging out of the kitchen.

"His target must be that superpower user... This is a good opportunity for me to probe him," Wen Wen thought.

With someone else making a move, Wen Wen was naturally happy to sit back and relax.

Then, to Wen Wen’s astonishment, the uncle’s cleaver cut directly into the superpower user’s head.

Immediately, blood splattered everywhere, and the superpower user collapsed with his legs still twitching slightly.

"This... something’s not right here."

Wen Wen was stunned for less than two seconds before his cigarette dropped from his mouth, and he shouted loudly, "Murder, murder!"

A superpower user was chopped to death by an ordinary person; something was definitely wrong with this place, so Wen Wen decided to hide himself first, not to draw too much attention.

He definitely didn’t want to end up like that superpower user, cooling off directly.

"Haha, I killed him, I can finally get out of this hellish place," the muscular man said while dropping the cleaver, crying and laughing like a lunatic.

After laughing for a while, he excitedly pulled open the hostel’s door, wanting to rush out.

But as he pushed the door open and didn’t get far, his flesh began to writhe, then his skin cracked open, and his whole body exploded in a very gory scene.

Peeking out from a window, Wen Wen didn’t see any remnants of flesh on the ground, as if the scene he had just witnessed was merely an illusion.

"Who... who can tell me what exactly is going on, I need to call the police!" Wen Wen trembled as he spoke.

"Put down your phone; calling the police won’t help," a lazy voice said, coming from where the superpower user had just died.

Wen Wen’s pupils shrank slightly as he panicked and asked, "Who’s speaking, are you human or ghost?"

"Don’t be afraid, I’m human."

A hand covered in blood reached out from under the table, and then the superpower user who had been cleaved in the head stood up with the cleaver still embedded.

"Sss... I must say, getting a knife to the brain really does hurt."

Wen Wen watched the superpower user in shock; he was certainly dead just moments before.

The blood was real, his aura had certainly vanished, and looking at him now, he didn’t seem to have super high self-healing abilities...

But why had he stood up again?

An Undead Creature?

No, he was alive now.

The superpower user gripped the handle of the knife, forcefully pulled it out, and threw it to the ground. As blood spurted from his head, he explained to Wen Wen,

"Well, you probably don’t know what’s going on, so let me explain it to you. From the moment you entered this hotel, you essentially entered another space. You can’t make phone calls out."

Then, he pointed at the dancing girl statue and said, "See that statue over there? Everything here is caused by that thing. This space is completely sealed off, you can only enter but can’t leave. Forcibly trying to leave will make you end up like that person just now."

"Every so often, that statue will dance. During the dance, everyone must play a game, and the person who loses becomes the ’prey,’ while the others are hunters."

"If a hunter kills the prey before the next dance, they can earn the right to leave this place. If no one dies during this process, one of the hunters will die randomly when the dance starts again."

He picked up a towel, wiped the fresh blood off his body, and smiled at Wen Wen.

"The chosen prey happens to be yours truly. Unfortunately, I am The Undead."

Wen Wen was taken aback. The Undead?

This was the first time he had encountered such an arrogant superpower user. If someone is human, how can they be undying?

However, this place was somewhat interesting—a separate space, entry but no exit?

Wen Wen was skeptical of this absurdity. He was now directly inside the Sanctuary, and he didn’t believe this thing could blast him away.

Still, skeptical as he was, Wen Wen didn’t want to take any risks.

He planned to observe more, find the statue’s weakness, then take it down and get everyone out of here.

Currently, there were six people in the hotel, including Wen Wen himself: the superpower user, the old man, and the female clerk, plus two others.

One was a young man sitting in the corner, holding a chair, looking nervous and even a bit neurotic.

The other was a girl about thirteen or fourteen years old, curled up in a corner, sobbing quietly, seemingly holding something in her arms.

Before Wen Wen could take a closer look, the statue seemed to come to life and began to dance gracefully.

The hotel’s ceiling suddenly lit up with several twinkling lights, flashing various colors, making the surroundings look like a KTV.

Wen Wen became slightly grave, "Is this what he referred to as game time? There’s no game notification. How many rounds of this ’game’ did they have to go through to figure out the rules?"

He suspiciously regarded the others. To have survived multiple ’games,’ these folks might not be as simple as they appeared.

If these people weren’t around, Wen Wen would definitely have tried to contain the dancing statue directly, but with these people around, many of his actions were hindered.

"Now, it’s the game time you mentioned, right? But how exactly does this game start?" Wen Wen stood up and walked over to ask the superpower user.

The superpower user gave Wen Wen a light smile, looking charming and dashing, although he would appear even more so if he weren’t covered in blood.

"Don’t rush; the game will start in a little while. By the way, why don’t you introduce yourself?"

Wen Wen pretended to be nervous and stammered, "I...my name is Wu Wang. I’m a private detective. I was on my way to Yanling City to handle a case... "

The superpower user squatted in front of Wen Wen, comforting him, "Don’t be nervous, Detective Wu, right? My name is Chu Wei. I’m a Demon Hunter who specializes in dealing with supernatural incidents. You can ask me any questions you have."

"Alright, Awei, can we really get out alive?" Wen Wen immediately replied.

Chu Wei was taken aback for a moment, calling him by his familiar name upon first meeting was a bit too familiar, but he still reassured, "Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, you won’t die unless you do something foolish."
