Chapter 211: Chapter 209: Shadow Demon
After a brief reflection, Wen Wen realized that this Shadow Zheng Feng was not a separate entity, which is why Wen Wen could not capture him into the Sanctuary. To succeed, he’d have to gather all the individuals together.
While he was momentarily distracted, three more Zheng Fengs attacked Wen Wen from different directions.
Wen Wen snorted lightly, snapped his fingers with his left hand, and shiny metallic wings sprang from his back, slicing the two Zheng Fengs at his sides in half at the waist.
Then, he spun around and kicked the face of another Zheng Feng behind him, producing a booming sound like that of a drum.
The head of that Zheng Feng, along with his body, flew over ten meters away and dropped to the ground, his facial features entirely caved in. If he had been a normal person, he would surely be dead.
But Zheng Feng was not a normal person; his head automatically detached, and then another head grew out on his neck.
And that mangled head turned into yet another new Zheng Feng.
During the brief time that Wen Wen counterattacked, the Shadow Zheng Feng had already escaped from the gaps in the Black Chains and stood at a distance, watching the battle.
"Ah, troublesome, to fight seven enemies at once, or maybe just six. I always feel that the Shadow one is not quite the same as the others."
"Can this guy really split infinitely... that’s a bit troublesome to deal with. Looks like I can’t keep chopping them up, I wouldn’t want to face a hundred of these guys."
Wen Wen, with a pained expression, said to Zheng Feng, "You know, looking at your face now kind of makes me want to throw up."
This time, the six Zheng Fengs didn’t respond but rushed at Wen Wen like mad dogs, while the Shadow Zheng Feng stayed hidden in the shadows at a distance.
"Tsk tsk, it can’t be that the more you split, the lower your IQ drops, can it? Your current method of attack is even worse than my Curly-haired Baboon at home."
Wen Wen leapt lightly, then in mid-air he delivered a sword slash, not at Zheng Feng, but at the huge water tower behind them.
A massive amount of water poured down from the water tower like a waterfall. Then, Wen Wen snapped his fingers twice with his right hand, activating his Freezing and Water Control abilities.
The Water Ghost’s Water Control Ability couldn’t handle such a vast amount of water, but Wen Wen merely guided it slightly, and the water flow submerged four of the Zheng Fengs.
Next, a white Cold Qi sprayed onto them, freezing the surrounding water. Once the flow stopped, only four human-shaped ice sculptures stood in place.
"After freezing you, at least your movements will be restricted."
After that, Wen Wen looked at the remaining two Zheng Fengs. He released the Black Chains to bind one of them and then drenched him in a torrent of Acid.
As of today, Scavenging Demon’s Acid Spray Ability wasn’t very useful to Wen Wen anymore.
Though the Acid was potent, to tell the truth, the force of the Acid Spray was not as strong as Wen Wen’s urine.
Most enemies could easily dodge it.
The last normal Zheng Feng, attempting to take advantage of the situation and launch a sneak attack on Wen Wen, met Wen Wen’s glare. A single Mental Shock later, Zheng Feng’s mind was shattered, and he fell stiffly to the ground.
The effect was surprisingly good; normally, against other enemies, Mental Shock would only stun them for a few seconds, but this Zheng Feng seemed to have been taken out instantly.
"It seems that after they split, their brains got divided as well. His ability wouldn’t be called the Brain-Dead Clone Technique, would it?"
After waiting two minutes, whether frozen, corroded, or shocked into idiocy, none of them continued to split. This gave Wen Wen a sigh of relief.
Looking at the last shadow, Zheng Feng said, "It seems your ability isn’t unsolvable after all. As long as you don’t split the body, you’re not that hard to deal with. I thought you were invincible."
To Wen Wen’s surprise, the shadow Zheng Feng was not the least bit discouraged, but instead burst into hearty laughter.
"Unfamiliar Demon Hunter, thank you for restraining him. Otherwise, I would have had to maintain this foolish appearance," said the shadow Zheng Feng, placing his hand on his chest and bowing to Wen Wen.
Wen Wen frowned, sensing something was wrong. This shadow Zheng Feng indeed didn’t share the same heart as the other Zheng Fengs.
The shadow Zheng Feng’s split mouth smiled, "You still don’t understand what’s going on, do you? I’m actually not Zheng Feng. I was just forced to stay in this body."
After speaking, two curved horns grew from his forehead, and a flexible tail shot out from his tailbone. He looked every bit a demon out of a movie.
"Looking at your appearance, you’re not human, are you?" Wen Wen said, pointing at the shadow Zheng Feng.
The shadow Zheng Feng puffed out his chest, proudly stating, "Correct, I am the noble Shadow Demon, Baliel."
Wen Wen squinted his eyes and asked, "So it’s a demon... I even thought you were a black goat that had become a spirit. Then how did you become a part of Zheng Feng?"
He was full of questions about Zheng Feng, and if this self-proclaimed Shadow Demon could provide some answers, that would be perfect. If not, Wen Wen had nothing to lose.
Baliel sat on the ground, dejectedly saying, "Two months ago, this ignorant fool blundered into the Gray Mist Layer and bumped into me as I was trying to enter this world."
"So, I took advantage and slipped into his body. At first, I thought he was just an ordinary human, but to my surprise, he turned out to be a superpower user."
"To fight for control over the body, I engaged in an intense battle of wills with him. But just as I was about to win, he split me off, creating a new body!"
"He has absolute control over the bodies he splits off, so I was forced to maintain this form and follow his orders. But now, you’ve rescued me, and I owe you a big thank you."
"What’s somewhat amusing is that this guy actually believed he could seal me away with just one body. With just a little provocation from me, he ended up killing his own wife, and he’s even become addicted to this game."
After hearing his story, Wen Wen felt he was beginning to understand Zheng Feng’s situation.
Wen Wen drew his short sword and pointed it at the shadow demon, "Thank you for your lengthy narrative. So, you’re the root of all this trouble. If I take you down, the matter ends, right?"
The shadow demon extended a finger and waggled it in front of him, saying, "I rarely see a superpower user with so many abilities as you, which is why I shared so much. But don’t be too arrogant. You won’t be able to resolve me."
"We’ll see about that after a try."
Wen Wen raised an eyebrow as black-and-red Sword Qi surged around the blade, with a row of runes along the sword emitting a bright golden glow.
The shadow demon’s eyes revealed a wariness; he could shuttle through shadows, but that didn’t mean he was invincible. At best, he could only avoid normal physical attacks.
But he wasn’t too worried because he didn’t plan to confront Wen Wen head-on and had ways to keep Wen Wen busy.
His arm mutated into a large sword, and with a sudden shift, he merged with the shadows and vanished from his spot, reappearing by the side of the four frozen Zheng Fengs.
He swung his arm, directly slicing the four ice sculptures into countless shards, which upon contact with the air, began to expand.
Wen Wen’s scalp tingled at the sight. With so many shards, how many Zheng Fengs would appear?
