Chapter 145 - 143: Fierce Spirit

Chapter 145: Chapter 143: Fierce Spirit

Wen Wen coldly watched the place where Gao Fang had vanished, probably still thinking he was in control even now.

"When the time comes, you’re going to cry!"

After waiting for nearly an hour, a large number of bats returned to Wen Wen’s side.

Wen Wen’s expression grew even uglier, because they had not found any trace of Yan Biqing’s Qi.

"It really is different for someone who’s been at the Association before, knowing how to hide their own Qi... But I will find you."

Afterward, Wen Wen dispatched all the bats again to search. They were not allowed to stop unless they found Yan Biqing.

...

In a filthy cellar, Yan Biqing emotionlessly tended to his wound on the chest.

The wound flashed with dense streams of data, significantly accelerating the healing process.

He didn’t have the perverted self-healing ability of a vampire, but he could enhance the body’s own self-healing ability to achieve outstanding effects.

"I don’t quite understand why they want to capture me; you’re one of them, and I am you," Yan Biqing muttered to himself. No one answered his question, and he never expected an answer.

He had awoken from chaos, taking over this body, finding everything in the world unfamiliar.

He could only use Yan Biqing’s past memories to familiarize himself with this world.

But the more he became accustomed to it, the more he couldn’t suppress his true nature, and the more he desired to... kill!

...

By the fourth day, the investigation continued at a rapid pace, and Wen Wen’s bats were still searching. Although they couldn’t locate Yan Biqing’s exact whereabouts, they at least knew where he definitely wasn’t.

The abnormal activity of the bats within the entire city had attracted the attention of the Association, but no Demon Hunter was assigned to investigate it.

The influence of one vampire was clearly not as significant as that of Yan Biqing.

Meanwhile, Ding Mingguang’s investigation progressed smoothly. He had previously left a mole inside Yan Biqing’s body, a marker that allowed him to quickly locate Yan Biqing.

Also, the mole served as a timed explosive, capable of inflicting tremendous damage upon Yan Biqing once detonated.

However, detonating it would mean no longer being able to conveniently locate Yan Biqing, so he kept the mole intact for now.

In fact, Yan Biqing’s location had already been pinpointed, but Lin Zheyuan had ordered the pursuit to take place only tomorrow. For today, he required Ding Mingguang to familiarize himself as much as possible with Yan Biqing’s patterns of behavior in hopes of executing him within a single day.

In the evening, Wen Wen sat in his new chair, watching the setting sun as it slowly descended, and he sighed deeply.

Once tonight passed, there would only be one day left, and the situation would become overwhelmingly adverse. He needed to find a way to change the state of affairs; otherwise, should he lose, he would be at a disadvantage.

Suddenly, his gaze sharpened, and he stood up, walking towards the bathroom.

Yes, every Demon Hunter’s office at the Hunters Association had its own separate bathroom, something Wen Wen was quite pleased with.

Upon entering the bathroom, Wen Wen’s figure abruptly disappeared; he had entered the Catastrophe Containment Facility.

He had just sensed that Qin Shuang’s promotion was complete!

He had successfully become a Ghost at the Mastery Realm!

Wen Wen went straight into the prison cell area of the Disaster Area, and as expected, Qin Shuang was already appearing in Catastrophe Area Cell No. Two, right beside Tao Qingqing.

At the moment, Tao Qingqing and Qin Shuang were engaged in a silent stare-down.

Qin Shuang had completely changed. Standing in the cell was no longer the timid ghost who cowered before Tao Qingqing, but a cold and stern youth clad with an aura of Cold Qi.

He was still wearing the same clothes, with the presence of dozens of other ghosts entwined around him. This presence didn’t disorient his existence but rather made him even more powerful.

Qin Shuang was now a Fierce Spirit!

In the Inner World, most monsters are not solitary creatures but belong to their own groups, which naturally results in differences in strength.

For instance, the ghosts that Wen Wen had dealt with were all the lowest-level Resentful Spirits.

They were very weak, with a few possessing special abilities that made them extremely difficult to handle without targeted measures.

But Qin Shuang was something beyond Resentful Spirits, a Fierce Spirit!

Unlike Resentful Spirits, which are at the bottom of the food chain for all monsters, the power of a Fierce Spirit is roughly in the upper-middle tier of all Disaster Level monsters.

They possessed the capability to cause physical harm and, unlike Resentful Spirits, were not confined to one location.

Yet, possessing physical offensive capabilities also meant they had weaknesses that Resentful Spirits didn’t, such as not being able to maintain ghost form for long, making them easily attackable at other times.

At the same time, the killing desire of a Fierce Spirit was even stronger, attacking living people instinctively.

Therefore, as soon as a Fierce Spirit was discovered, it would likely be eradicated by the Hunters Association, which was why Wen Wen did not find any in Furong River City.

Seeing Wen Wen, Qin Shuang’s face twisted. The wills of too many other ghosts lingered in his body, blurring his own memories.

But he still remembered that this man before him had brought him immense humiliation, so he wanted to take revenge!

Pale Cold Qi emerged from his hands, lashing out towards Wen Wen, but it couldn’t escape the cell.

Even so, Qin Shuang kept attacking relentlessly.

"Your strength has increased, but your brain is damaged. It seems you have forgotten who I am," Wen Wen hummed softly, placing his hand on the collar and then transforming once more into the Catastrophe Prison Warden. With a slight push, Qin Shuang was pinned against the wall, unable to move.

"Let me give you a lesson," Wen Wen said, clenching his hand in the air. Qin Shuang’s body twisted in pain as numerous faces of despair collided within his half-transparent form, causing him immense agony.

After a moment, Wen Wen released his hand, and Qin Shuang’s look towards Wen Wen was no longer defiant but somewhat cringing as he shrank back into the corner of the cell, frightened, watching Wen Wen.

With absolute power, even ghosts could feel fear.

"Let’s see how much of a surprise your abilities can bring me," Wen Wen said as he arrived at the Disaster Area Core. He then selected Qin Shuang’s abilities, and after his body writhed, he transformed into a semi-transparent state.

Since he was already used to not wearing underwear, Wen Wen had not had the embarrassing situation of his underwear falling off for a long time.

Switching powers so many times had made Wen Wen adept at testing different abilities.

"Much stronger than an ordinary person, requiring only melee to crush a common man, but completely incomparable to a superpower user reliant on physical combat..."

"Resentful Spirits’ abilities are all possessed by Fierce Spirits, and they can decide whether to be visible to ordinary people based on their will."

"At the same time, the electricity where Fierce Spirits appear will be unstable, almost like a built-in flickering lights effect."

"They can move objects with their thoughts, but there’s a limit to the weight, and they can’t perform more complex operations."

"Overall, if not relying on special abilities, Fierce Spirits are utterly incapable of comparing with Disaster Level vampires."
