Chapter 1989: Chapter 600: Slaying the Tier-9 Dragon Hawk Lord

Somehow, the matter of the elders inviting the leader of the human uprising army for negotiations quietly spread within the Dragon Lizard Clan.

Before long, Leonard Churchill and the others retraced their steps through the secret path they had come from and left the Abyss Crypt.

The group was walking through the dense forest.

Besides the Dragon Lizard Squad from before, there were two more cloaked figures in the escort team.

They were the Clan Chief Morey of the Dragon Lizard Clan and the Eighth Rank Elder Burt.

"Clan Chief Morey, you really didn’t have to escort us..."

"You are guests invited by the Dragon Lizard Clan, so of course, we must ensure your safety."

"..."

Having the Clan Chief personally escort them was already a show of sincerity.

Even though they knew there was a mysterious Ninth Tier person like Leonard Churchill among the Rebellion Army, they still thought that as a human card master, human strength would naturally be somewhat inferior before the Dragon Descendants.

Moreover, if anything unexpected happened, the newly formed alliance would become a joke.

Sophia Jones smiled slightly, also thinking it was quite good.

It was a good opportunity to show this ally their strength.

A trustworthy ally in war is a pillar on which lives can be relied, provided both sides understand each other well enough.

As they walked, she chatted with Clan Chief Morey about some details of the subsequent alliance.

This was a very hidden mountain path, and if the information didn’t leak, there was no way for the enemy to discover it.

But suddenly, Barre Shepherd sensed something and abruptly looked up, saying lightly, "We’re being watched."

A few hawks swiftly flew across the sky.

The speed of these short-winged hawks was extremely fast, with vision sharp enough to clearly see moving insects on the ground from a thousand meters high.

And as they glided silently through the dark sky, they were usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

Yet they couldn’t escape Barre Shepherd’s Air Perception.

Leonard Churchill and the others weren’t surprised at all as they listened.

They knew about Barre Shepherd’s exaggerated perceptive ability and also guessed that the enemy would come.

But Clan Chief Morey and the Dragon Lizard Clan’s guards were slightly puzzled: how could they be sure it was the enemy?

And what was even more surprising was that even after guessing it might be the enemy, why did these few humans seem not at all anxious?

Morey directly asked, "Leader Quinn, how do you know it’s the enemy?"

Sophia Jones did not hide it, directly responding, "Senior Barre is a very powerful Air Skill Master; he can sense the enemy’s ’air’ intentions. Even with the faintest hostile intent from those two hawks, it will be perceived."

"Oh?"

Hearing this, Morey cast a sidelong glance at Barre Shepherd, his expression slightly unusual.

He himself had trained in the human kingdom, but he had never seen such a powerful Air Skill Master.

Being also of the Eighth Rank, Morey realized that this ordinary-looking human elder seemed to have very strong techniques.

A reconnaissance-type card master?

The Dragon Lizard Clan’s guards all thought this.

Leonard Churchill found the expressions of the Dragon Lizard people amusing.

Treating Barre Shepherd as a support card master, they were sure to be stunned later.

....

Leonard Churchill and his team neither hurried nor slowed their pace, as if they weren’t aware that the hawks had revealed their position, nor did they intend to find a place to hide.

On the contrary, Morey and the few Dragon Lizard Clan members were on full alert, fearing any mishaps.

But since they were discovered, the enemy soon caught up.

Not long after, Barre Shepherd seemed to notice something again, raised his eyebrows slightly, and calmly said, "Here they come."

Leonard Churchill and Sophia Jones raised their brows slightly too, and looked in the direction of his gaze.

A second or two later, they saw some silhouettes rapidly approaching in the dark.

Of course, Morey and that Eighth Rank Dragon Lizard Elder also saw them.

They immediately raised their magic wands and formed a group shield.

Knowing the thunderous means of Silver Wind Lord "Earl Tieling" Sean Cumberland, any slightest carelessness would have fatal consequences.

Clan Chief Morey’s expression appeared very serious, as he thought to himself, "Ah, they’ve come after all..."

In their hearts, they didn’t want to become enemies with these old neighbors.

After all, being neighbors for over a century, they were well aware of Silver Wind City’s tremendous power.

A head-on conflict was beneficial to no one.

But now that the other side had come to ambush their allies, this situation shifted into another deadlock they had to face.

Meanwhile, as Morey glanced at the composed expressions of Leonard Churchill and the others, he was very puzzled: why weren’t these people worried at all?

Count Sean, with dragon hawk blood, was a renowned war noble in the Red Dragon Empire, notorious for his brutality and love for killing, having defeated enemies of the same tier on the battlefield.

Without allowing much more thought, those silhouettes were swiftly approaching within sight.

The leader was a Ninth Tier, accompanied by two Eighth Tiers.

They were none other than "Earl Tieling" Sean and his two Dragon Hawk Legion commanders.

Far behind were a few figures resembling Sixth and Seventh Tier Centurions.

Dragon Hawks were mixed-blood Dragon Descendants, appearing as a white-headed great eagle, yet their feathers emitted the metallic sheen of dragon scales.

They had exceptionally fast speed, proficient wind elements spellcasting, and decent strength.

Except for defenses not as tough as a Great Dragon, they had no particularly obvious flaws.

Clan Chief Morey felt that if it really came down to a fight, both sides would suffer heavy losses. Still hoping to salvage the situation, he proactively revealed himself from under his cloak and spoke, "Count Sean, what brings you here?"

The three Dragon Hawks came to a halt as well.

"Earl Tieling" Sean, a middle-aged man with sinister eyes, noticed the presence of Morey and another Eighth Rank Dragon Lizard Elder, and his expression showed slight difficulty.

He directly said, "I am here under orders to ambush these rebels. Clan Chief Morey, what are you doing here?"
