Chapter 1944: Chapter 587: Miss Anne Who Waited Through the Long Ages_3

In this moment, he seemed to be in a state where time did not flow.

He just sat on the floor, his solitary figure resembling those inscriptions on letter paper, as if written just yesterday, yet also as if a century had passed.

It was as if his memories had become a book, and for the first time, he flipped through that book as an "Observer."

The secrets of time unfolded before him.

Leonard Churchill didn’t notice that the [Super Spacetime Postage Stamp] on the new envelope was gleaming brightly.

As he was deep in thought, he suddenly heard the "woo woo woo" of a train whistle outside the small house’s window.

Leonard was startled awake, turned his head to look, and saw the [Bazeks’ Ghost Train] he had once boarded at The Summer Pasture Town Ruins arriving from the void, stopping beside the small house, as if waiting for passengers.

Leonard suddenly understood something, he put away the letter, stood up, and walked over.

He understood that the stamp was also a ticket.

The conductor stood waiting by the side of the train.

Leonard approached, took out the stamp, and boarded the train smoothly.

The train doors closed, the whistle sounded, and it slowly started moving again.

The lights in the carriage were a warm hue of orange-yellow, giving off a cozy sensation.

As always, a familiar scene.

Beside Leonard, there were no other passengers in the carriage.

As the Ghost Train accelerated, the scenery outside the windows whisked by rapidly, eventually becoming a distorted blur of time and space.

Before long, the conductor stepped into the carriage.

The conductor, whose appearance had been unclear all this while, now became distinct, transforming into a postman wearing a large green-brimmed hat.

Just like the last time he took the train in Summer Shepherd City, the conductor retrieved a massive Enamel-colored Teapot and then poured a cup of lightly fragrant pale yellow tea.

Leonard looked at the plain, unremarkable face of the middle-aged man with a Big Beard and nodded in acknowledgment, "Thank you."

The conductor nodded back in response and asked, "Sir, where are you heading?"

Where to?

Leonard hadn’t really thought about it, he just boarded the train on a whim.

After a moment of pondering, he replied, "I’m going to... the place in this photograph."

He wanted to travel through time to see that girl.

The conductor glanced at it, "Alright. I’ll inform you when we arrive."

...

The last time Leonard took [Bazeks’ Ghost Train], he was still at Second Tier.

During that time, everything about the train fascinated him with its mysteries.

Yet now, Leonard looked at the train and understood that this was the embodiment of the Time Rule.

Now he understood more deeply that some things can only be comprehended when a certain realm is reached.

The view outside had already become completely obscure, a manifestation of time distortion.

The feeling was like flipping through pages so quickly they overlapped in a blur before his eyes.

When time reaches a certain speed, it slows down again, then begins to rewind.

Leonard, still in the "Observer" perspective, watched as the book of time was turned back in reverse.

This was a train journey whose duration was unknown.

Leonard didn’t know how long he had been on the train.

It seemed that the concept of time was lost here.

Even at Leonard’s current realm, it felt as if he were about to become lost in time.

He recognized this uncontrollable state of mind as a sign of Mutation, so he refrained from further gazing at the scene outside the window, which he could still not fully comprehend within his current realm.

Standing up, Leonard walked a few steps within the carriage, carefully observing every corner of the car.

He hadn’t seen it wrong when he boarded; this was Car No. 002.

Leonard headed towards the front of the train, arriving at the partition door between carriages.

Through the glass, he saw a coffin, pitch black like ink, placed in Car No. 001.

"Just as I thought..."

Leonard’s mind wasn’t surprised.

He had seen such a coffin on the [Neon] train before.

This was the fourth, the coffin of the secrets of time.

Emperor Lanlingster had engraved on the Stele, saying it was the essential thing for the elevation of the [JOKER] Sequence.

Blood, Soul, Time, Space... the four coffins each had four functions.

Leonard didn’t know how to use these four coffins; as he pondered, his thoughts wandered.

He also had a peculiar feeling that his realm was still far from reaching the height needed to comprehend the mysteries of the Time Rules.

However, the "My Heart is the Universe" Mystical Technique seemed capable of encompassing everything, with thoughts flowing faster and more boundless than time.

Unknowingly.

The Netherworld Train slowed and came to a stop.

The conductor reminded him, "Sir, we’ve arrived."

Leonard picked up the top hat on the table, "Thank you."

Saying that, he alighted the train.

....

"Am I still in the manor?"

Leonard found it quite remarkable.

The place where he disembarked was still the tree house where he boarded.

But now the tree house no longer showed signs of its former dilapidation, but instead was the cozy, beautiful maiden’s boudoir from his memories.

Everything in the house was just as it was in his memories—piano, murals, crystal chandelier, and the plain white large bed...

From the attic, one could overlook the brightly lit Safflower Manor and more than half of Black Gold City.

"I’ve traveled back a hundred years again?"

Leonard was uncertain of his current state.

It seemed different from the last time; he didn’t feel that sense of temporal repulsion.

But from the decor in the tree house, it was indeed the scene from a hundred years ago.

The height of the black fir trees also appeared as it did a hundred years ago.

"Exactly what year is it!? Had the ’me’ of then arrived? Would I encounter another ’me’ here?"
