Chapter 820 - 445 Visible Thrills

Chapter 820: Chapter 445 Visible Thrills

"We interrupt with a newsflash just in..." The expression of the TV newscaster was a bit somber, then he continued. "The princess of Britain, at the young age of 36, died in a car accident early this morning..."

As the news ended, Yan Fei sat in front of the television with an empty bowl, deep in thought. It wasn’t that he was contemplating how the princess, who lived thousands of miles away, had her accident; he saw no connection to himself at all. His thought was: it seemed the thing he did last night was too trivial, it didn’t even make the evening news!

Well, thinking about it, it made sense. He had only lost several thousand cattle from a lousy ranch—it really wasn’t news-worthy. To make the news, it had to be a big deal. Considering how many cattle they raised, it would probably take the loss of 100,000 or 180,000 heads to make the news!

Completing such an exhilarating task and yet remaining unknown really felt like a sneaky night mission.

Truly a bit disappointing, really disappointing!

"Boss Yan, everyone has finished washing their dishes, what are you still staring at the bowl for? If you wait any longer, your food will stick to the bowl..." Xiang Rui’s reminder broke into Yan Fei’s thoughts, prompting him to quickly stand up, wash his bowl, and place it in the kitchen.

Although there was now a professional chef, everyone still followed the old rule of washing their own dishes.

Yan Fei had just arrived in time for breakfast this morning, exhausted from running around all night. After eating a big pot of meat, feeling greasy, he just wanted to have some millet porridge and casually watch the news broadcast.

He hadn’t expected that his deed was too insignificant, making the half-hour viewing pointless.

Back at the office, he flopped into his chair, grabbed a newspaper as a cover, glanced at the numerous cattle in the dinosaur world for a bit, then continued searching for a suitable valley.

Having so many cattle together certainly wouldn’t do—they were all cattle that could be slaughtered for meat at any time. Plus, he wouldn’t have to worry about where the beef came from if he brought it out, it definitely couldn’t go to waste.

Fortunately, the several valleys chosen had good terrain, so there was no need to worry about dinosaurs stealing the cattle for now. As for the pterosaurs flying in the sky, they were even less of a concern. There were calves among the cattle, but they were protected by the adults. A full-grown cow could weigh hundreds of catties to around a ton; the pterosaurs stood no chance against them.

He glanced back at the newspaper in his hands, then took a second look, suddenly feeling that something he had seen earlier seemed off, prompting him to quickly look back at the dinosaur world.

He almost fainted with frustration.

He had gone through so much trouble to bring in so many cattle overnight, and hadn’t even tasted a bite of beef yet, only to discover that there was a titan python eyeing his cattle in one of the valleys. Looking at its deflated belly, he figured if it had more time to prepare, it would likely be ready to strike soon.

If that python could sing, it would probably belt out a tune. It had been cooped up in the small valley for half a year, just having digested its last meal, lamenting that it hadn’t seen any food in the valley for over half a year, and was considering hunting outside the valley. To its surprise, the valley was now full of food overnight.

Yan Fei was overly casual; he hadn’t anticipated catching so many cattle in one outing, resulting in an insufficient number of prepared valleys, prompting him to hastily use a few he hadn’t scrutinized closely. Moreover, these pythons wouldn’t move while digesting food, leading to the oversight of this particular python.

However, the python’s good days were over. It was still picking out a target when Yan Fei discovered it.

He walked to the door, locked the office, then instantly appeared beside the python, grabbed its tail, and shook it vigorously like shaking out a quilt. The commotion caused the nearby Da Hei cattle to start mooing. These cattle, raised in ranches and greenhouses, had never encountered danger like this. With such a large python trembling through the air, it was enough to scare them to death...

Whether a python or a snake, they all hate having their tails grabbed and shaken—but, of course, most people wouldn’t be able to shake a large python. In the blink of an eye, the python, as expected, turned into a limp noodle.

Carrying the noodle-like python, Yan Fei arrived at the valley where the forage was planted, and saw No.1 and No.2 Coolies anxiously herding the cattle. The forage in the valley was too sparse, and the cattle, eating away, were gradually moving towards the grassland.

But when Yan Fei arrived holding the python, the cattle took off running towards the distance in an instant.

Yan Fei was pressed for time, so he swiftly skinned the python, threw the skin aside, and told the two coolies: "You two take care of this! I’m really busy. Oh, and make some extra food tonight. Prepare some pancakes or buns or something. Later on, when I’ve finished teaching some people for a few days, I’ll send two over to help you out."

Having said that, he disappeared in a flash. No.1 and No.2 Coolies couldn’t afford to be stunned and immediately grabbed their weapons and charged towards the python.

Its skin had been peeled off, but the python was still alive. You could see its heart throbbing, and looking at about ten meters of skinless python thrashing helplessly, even No.1 and No.2 Coolie, who were quite experienced, still found it unsettling.

Actually, some were even more horrified than they were!

In the cave by the lake, where the Kronosaurus family once lived, a group of Japanese people had howled all night. Then, finally, as the sky began to lighten, they came to a contentious decision.

Such a bizarre event had occurred. They had been patrolling perfectly well, watching the surveillance perfectly well, lying on the bed listening to music perfectly well... and suddenly found themselves in this cave. Anyone who wasn’t scared had surely been frightened stupid!

The group consisted of ranch managers, workers, and security personnel. After the initial panic had subsided, they gradually calmed down and started discussing various options.

The ultimate decision was actually quite simple. Looking at the tranquil lake outside, with not a ripple in sight, it seemed there was no danger. Of course, feeling safe didn’t mean they were indeed safe. After discussing until almost dawn, they decided that once it was light, they would find a brave soul to test the waters.

The brave soul set off cautiously, swimming near the edge of the lake for a bit, and finding no danger, ventured deeper. Still safe.

So, the brave explorer waved to the expectant crowd at the cave’s entrance and swam towards the distance. As he officially began, another brave soul followed suit — maintaining a safe distance from the first. This was to ensure that if any danger arose, there would be someone to go back and report.

Swim, swim, swim!

The lake was no small feat, and because everything was mysterious and unknown, the two brave souls swam slowly — they needed to conserve their energy for any potential dangers.

But slow as they might be, as long as they kept moving, they were getting closer to the shore.

After swimming for quite some time, the sun had risen high, and the lake’s surface was no longer so still. The wind brushed over the water, now and then a fish would leap out, displaying their beautiful scales beneath the sunlight.

It was truly a breathtaking and heartening sight...

As the shore came into view, the lead brave soul grew impatient and couldn’t help but swim faster — spurred on by others to be the pathfinder ’brave soul,’ he was indeed a reckless youth, or else he wouldn’t have been so bold.

The second brave soul was more composed and immediately shouted out.

By the time the first brave soul stopped and waited for his companion to catch up, he heard the latter scolding, "QuanKoizumi-kun, even with success in sight, we must remain calm and composed. You should know that we’ve just undergone a strange event, everything ahead is unknown. Even if this place looks as quiet and peaceful as we see, we still cannot... cannot... cannot..."

Mid-sentence, he glanced unintentionally at the shore, stuttered suddenly, then his eyes bulged, staring fixedly ahead without moving his gaze.

The first brave soul was surprised and, following the shocked and scared look of his companion, quickly turned to look at the shore.

Several Camarasaurus were slowly emerging from the woods to the lakeside slope, shaking their heads and tails in the sunlight, walking toward the lake. Not far away, a group of Stegosaurus was doing something similar, with the lead Stegosaurus even bellowing a few times at them.

The leader of the Camarasaurus replied twice, seeming as though two completely different species of dinosaurs were greeting each other.

As these dinosaurs approached the lake, the brave soul who had been lecturing suddenly stuttered a few words and then his eyes rolled back, and he sank into the water...

Seeing his companion sinking, the first brave soul didn’t think twice, swimming over quickly to lift the one who was sinking, then slapped his face hard several times: "Xiaozhu-kun, what’s happened to you? Wake up..."

Xiaozhu-kun had been overwhelmed by his emotions just now, swallowed a few mouthfuls of water when he sank, and now being slapped awake, slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze somewhat vacant, he looked at QuanKoizumi-kun across from him, then looked around at the lake water and murmured, "Am I still alive? This isn’t a dream, is it?"

He even pinched QuanKoizumi-kun’s face, who, being pinched, nodded in some confusion, "Of course you’re alive, Xiaozhu-kun. What happened to you?"

No sooner had he spoken than Xiaozhu-kun’s already pale face from being in the water for so long turned even paler. He slowly lifted his head and turned towards the shore, then cried out, "Dinosaurs... dinosaurs..."

QuanKoizumi-kun’s reaction was the total opposite of what he had anticipated, as he immediately became excited, let go of Xiaozhu-kun and swam towards the shore: "Yes, dinosaurs, by the Yamata Deity above, I’ve seen real dinosaurs, I must touch them, touch..."

Xiaozhu-kun, suddenly let go, sank into the water. Flailing back to the surface, he dared not follow but shouted out loud and desperately, "QuanKoizumi-kun, have you gone mad? Calm down, those are dinosaurs, dinosaurs!"

QuanKoizumi-kun, without looking back, shouted, "I know, but those are herbivorous dinosaurs, they won’t see us as food, there’s no danger. You know? They are my dream, my childhood dream. I must get closer to them, had it not been for saving you, I would have already touched them, such adorable monsters..."

"QuanKoizumi-kun, have you forgotten our situation? Have you forgotten our mission? Look up at the sky, we are not without danger. Stop, we need to go back immediately..."
