Chapter 685: Chapter 333: The child causing trouble and the assault incident_1

It seemed that overnight, the endless fields had undergone a makeover.

Along both banks of the river, green was everywhere. Here and there, small red and yellow flowers fluttered in the wind, creating an aura of endless vitality.

Even the river seemed a bit more cheerful, radiating just a little more vigor.

"Brother, I want to eat fried burnt fish, I don’t want big fish, not big fish, oh wow..." Yan Chao, who was shouting at the river from the small wooden boat, suddenly saw a splash on the water. Then, a big fish flew into the boat from beside him. He let out a surprised shriek and instantly forgot what he had just claimed. "What a big fish! Sister-in-law, take a look, would this fish be tasty?"

Then Miss Xu Xiaoyan’s voice rang out, "Keep your distance, don’t get too close or it might jump and hit you. Look at this fish. It has a red tail. Do you remember what kind of fish has a red tail?"

"Hmm..." The youngster immediately furrowed his brows, thinking like a little adult.

A moment later, the youngster suddenly broke into a proud smile. "I know, I know, I recognize this fish. It’s a red carp, isn’t it?"

"Correct!" Xu Xiaoyan laughed and gently tapped the little boy on his head. "Xiaochao, you are really smart! Hand your fishing net to your brother so he can catch some small fish for you. We will make you some fried small fish later!"

The little boy instantly jumped up, ran to the edge of the boat with his fishing net, and started shouting at the water, "Brother, bring your net quickly. I want to eat small fish..."

"Ha!" Yan Fei, who was unseen by the boy close by, revealed his head and shouted back.

The slightly startled boy appeared to be even more delighted. He handed over his net and said, "I want to eat fried small fish, brother..."

Yan Fei reached into the boat and tossed in a fish, then took the net. "Then you’ll have to wait patiently. Small fish are not easy to catch. It will take a while!"

"Yes, yes, yes!" The little guy nodded vigorously. "I’m very obedient..."

Yan Fei smiled at Xu Xiaoyan beside him and then quietly slipped back into the water.

The lady moved the little boy a bit back, then picked up a small bucket from the boat. Ignoring the big fish darting around in the boat, she chatted with the boy while keeping their eyes on the river, waiting for Yan Fei to fetch the fish.

After a while, Yan Fei emerged from the water next to the boat, a fishing net in his hand. The captured small fish squirmed, their silvery scales sparkling in the sunlight. The little boy immediately lit up with excitement. "Brother is so cool, it is indeed this kind of fish..."

The lady quickly held out the bucket to catch the small fish that Yan Fei poured in, then said in surprise, "Are these not Cuan Bai Tiao fish?"

Yan Fei replied with frustration, "Having small fish is already good enough, your expectations are not low! Where can I possibly catch so many Cuan Bai Tiao?"

The lady laughed, "Alright, you’re the big hero. Any type of fish will do, hurry up! Your mum and dad are still waiting!"

Yan Fei agreed and dived back into the water.

Small fish are difficult to catch, probably even more so than big fish. These fish didn’t come from the river, but the circular lake in the dinosaur world.

These fish had no predators in the circular lake, and with their strong reproductive ability, they were now everywhere, making them much easier to catch than the ones in the river.

In no time, Yan Fei scooped up half a net of fish from the circular lake. After checking that no prehistoric fish were mixed in, he popped his head out of the river, pouring the fish into the bucket.

Of course, Yan Fei again received a few admiring compliments from his younger brother.

The little boy was much smarter than Yan Fei had been at his age. Just to decent food, he would act obediently, constantly flattering his brother, becoming the perfect little flatterer.

In the blink of an eye, Yan Fei popped back out of the water holding the net. After emptying the fish into the bucket and taking a look, he casually tossed the net onto the boat, "This is enough for now. We can catch more next time if you want..."

Then he leaped onto the bow of the boat, causing it to sink a bit.

Both the lady and the little boy had gotten used to sitting on the boat, so although it rocked a bit, they were able to steady themselves. The lady then pointed at him and yelled, "Don’t move! Wait until we get there..."

Then she quickly pulled the excited little boy and ran towards the other end of the boat.

When they turned around after reaching a safe distance, they saw Yan Fei shaking off the water droplets on his body, causing a small shower around him.

The little guy instantly joined the flattery chorus, "Brother is so cool! Sister-in-law said you are even more formidable than Little Wolf and Little Insect!"

The pleased Yan Fei suddenly darkened his face. Little Wolf and Little Insect were the names of the two guard dogs on their cattle farm. He glared at the giggling lady, "You’re the one who taught him this. Just wait and see how I’ll deal with you later."

The lady, still holding the boy’s hand, was not afraid at all, "What’s wrong? You said it yourself. You learnt it from the dogs. Did I say something wrong?"

"Hmph!" Yan Fei huffed, took his clothes that were hanging on the boat, put them on, and picked up the bamboo pole to row the boat back.

Children would typically go swimming in the river during summer barehanded. Things like towels and soap were not even considered. After playing in the water to their heart’s content and getting back onto the shore, they didn’t have anything to dry themselves with. Generally, they would just stand on the shore and shake off the water, put on their clothes and go play somewhere else — after all, it was hot in the summer and the clothes would be dry by the time they reached the village.

Yan Fei was no exception. Now, with his somewhat monstrous physique, a good shake would remove almost all the water droplets from his body. Back when it was just him and the lady, he’d joke that he learned it from the dogs — anyone who had raised a dog would have seen it. Whenever a dog came out of the water, it would shake its body and get rid of most of the water from its fur.
