Chapter 637: Chapter 296 First Kiss_1

"Wow...where did you get these trees?" The girl, touching the newly transplanted trees, was overcome with astonishment. "They’re lovely; even our forest park doesn’t have these!"

"Humph! Am I impressive or what!" Yan Fei responded with self-satisfaction rather than a straightforward reply.

"Psh, such a narcissist when complimented..." The girl rolled her eyes predictably at him, but she did not question further where the trees came from. "Hurry up and tell me what kind of tree this is!"

"These are called Couple Trees. Look, they correspond section by section..." Yan Fei ambled aimlessly. "From now on, this will be our home, perfect for planting Couple Trees..."

He had expected the girl to dispute the name, but surprisingly there was no objection that he had anticipated, so Yan Fei cast a puzzled glance at her. He saw the girl touching the ’Couple Tree,’ caught in deep thought.

So Yan Fei could not help but go on: "When I also start school, we can live here together. When the house is built, it will need a name, so we will call it Couple Yard. From then on, we will study here, raise chickens, ducks, and geese, grow vegetables, and spend our own little time..."

Little did he know, the girl, carried away by the thrill, didn’t realize he was joking about the name ’Couple Tree’ and actually believed him. When she heard the name ’Couple Yard,’ she blushed, apparently remembering something.

Observing the girl’s pale face tinged with red, Yan Fei looked around, then suddenly grinned, "Come and stand here, look..."

"What is it?" Caught off guard and unaware of his expression, the girl came over without hesitation when she heard his call.

"See, aren’t these trees I planted fantastic? If we stand here, the people on the road can’t see us at all..."

"So what if they can’t see us?" The girl was still not getting it.

"Nothing!" Yan Fei feigned innocence, leaning in. "See, if I stand here, we are both hidden by these trees, so no one knows there are two people here.

"What are you up to?" The girl, seeing that smirk on his face, caught on that something was amiss. She attempted to shove the cheeky fellow away, but she gravely underestimated his determination. She couldn’t push him away; instead, they were getting closer and closer.

"What do I want to do? I just want to kiss you! How could you kiss me first and not let me kiss back?" The guy righteously declared, holding on to the tree to trap the girl, leaned in closer. "Don’t move, others will notice if we move..."

"Don’t you dare kiss me, I won’t let you, jerk..." The girl swung her head from side to side. Realizing she couldn’t dodge, she gave up and became serious. "Yan Xiaofei, let go of me or I’ll scream!"

Yan Fei was stunned and was about to release her when the girl burst out laughing and rolled her eyes. After looking around, she pretended to yell for help, "Help, help...someone is trying to molest me..."

She looked pitiful yet triumphant; her voice was soft enough that only the two of them could hear.

"I’ll stop your scream with a kiss..." Seeing the girl’s playful reaction, a bittersweet Yan Fei instinctively moved in and shut her up with a kiss.

"Mmm..." The moment when their lips met, the girl looked surprised. She stared with wide eyes at the man in front of her, her face blank...

Time seemed to hang still for a few seconds, until a car roared past them not far away. The girl snapped back to reality, fiercely shoved the man in front of her, but it felt like pushing a massive rock — her head tilted backward due to the force and hit the tree trunk behind.

"Ouch!" The girl yelped in pain.

This pulled Yan Fei from his stupor. He didn’t have time to savor the moment before he reached out to comfort the girl. "Are you okay? Did you get a bump? Let me see..."

"Don’t touch me..." The girl batted away his hand, embarrassed and anxious. Her tears were on the verge of falling.

"Don’t cry..." At a loss, Yan Fei stood aside. "Okay, I promise not to kiss you again, alright?"

"Don’t say that..." Already on the verge of embarrassment, the mention made the girl squat down and bury her face in her knees, pulling her hair over her face.

"I...I...I..." Yan Fei was anxious, pacing back and forth without knowing what to do. His eyes fell on the tree behind the girl. "How about I chop down this tree to use as firewood?"

"Pfft..." When the girl heard this, she burst out laughing.

She raised her head, her eyes teary. The flush on her cheek made her look like a ripe apple. She looked annoyed but was also trying to suppress a laugh. "Idiot..."

"How am I an idiot?" Yan Fei looked confused, but his concern immediately replaced the confusion, "Is your head okay?"

"So what if you’re an idiot..." The girl exclaimed petulantly at him.

"Alright, alright, I’ll be the idiot! Just let me check, okay?" Yan Fei pressed.

"It’s not that painful now, check it out..." Seeing his anxious face, she gave him a look, flushed while speaking in a hushed tone.

"Hmm..." Yan Fei quickly went over to touch it. "Luckily your hair is long, looks like there isn’t a bump, does it still hurt?"

"No..."

"Then don’t be upset, I didn’t mean to..."

"Don’t say it..."

"Okay, okay, I won’t say it..."

"Idiot..." Looking at Yan Fei’s sympathetic face, the girl whispered again, leaning in slightly, she wrapped her arms around his waist and spoke softly in his ear. "Hold me..."

"Uh..." Any fool would know how to respond and what to do next.

"Hold on tighter..." The girl’s arms tightened their embrace.

"Uh..." Yan Fei carefully ’tightened’ his embrace.

"Will you hold me like this forever?"

"Uh huh..." Feeling the girl’s breath by his ear, all Yan Fei could do was nod.

"That’s nice..." The girl murmured softly, resting her face on his shoulder, staying silent afterward.

Both of them stood there motionless as if they were wooden puppets.

After a long while, the girl suddenly loosened her grip and pushed Yan Fei away, saying, "Didn’t you tell me that you had already made plans for the construction? Let’s go, we should hurry home!"

"Uh, okay!" Yan Fei, a bit astounded by the girl’s sudden change of attitude, nodded subconsciously in response.

"Silly, let’s hurry up..." The girl, initially feeling guilty and pretending to look around, relaxed when she saw his reaction. "Let’s go, after taking leave from school, buy the tickets, then come back to pack our belongings, and then catch the bus home..."

Feeling the sudden change in the atmosphere yet unable to pinpoint exactly what had changed, Yan Fei watched the girl acting as if nothing had happened. He nodded, somewhat puzzled. "Uh huh, as you say..."

"Why do you agree with everything I say?" The girl walked ahead, her hands behind her back, her gaze upward, criticizing his attitude as she went on. "You’re a man, you’ll be the head of the household in the future, you should be the one making decisions. Understand?"

"Uh huh..." Yan Fei, who didn’t quite grasp what she was going on about, resumed his bewildered state.

"That’s more like it!" The girl’s hands plucked at flowers behind her back, and as she walked, she began to skip. "Then...you’ll have to be the provider in the future, and you’ll have to be good to me, alright?"

"Uh huh..." Yan Fei continued to nod his head, looking incredibly clueless.

"No more ’uh huh,’ speak up..." The girl commanded without looking back.

"Say what..."

"Say whatever you want..."

"Then, after we’ve taken our leave, let’s pack our stuff, then go to that foreigner’s restaurant to ask if they’ve decided on the price increase for our beef. After we’ve bought the train tickets at the station, can we hang around nearby till it’s time to board?"

"Sure! It’s good that you are taking the lead!" There were very few people on the street, the girl, not caring about the looks from others, was skipping and hopping ahead like a deer in the woods, even creating a dance effect with her movements.

Her ponytail swayed side to side behind her, indicating she was in great spirits.

"Why are you walking so fast? We’ve still got plenty of time!" Yan Fei couldn’t help but call out from behind as he saw the girl increasing her pace.

"Uh, then I’ll do as you said..." The girl immediately stopped, then started to move forward slowly, as if she is moonwalking...

"You don’t have to be that slow..."

"Then I’ll be a bit faster, is this okay?"

"A bit faster..."

"Hehe... You’re so hard to talk to. Too fast isn’t okay, too slow isn’t okay either..."

"..."

"Wait, I should have made a mark on that tree earlier..."

"Why make a mark?"

"None of your business..."

"Let’s do it next time? We’ve walked so far, there’s no need to go back..."

"Then you help me remember. Remind me the next time we come..."

"Uh huh..."

A gust of wind blew by, causing the oil-dark wheat sprouts in the field to sway with it. The spring sunshine sprinkled on them, making it look like waves of green.

The wind blew past the plane tree beside the road, the few remaining withered leaves rustled, alongside them, new leaves were already growing.

The wind blew past the two figures, one fast, one slow, yet they seemed to be oblivious to it, going around the large trees by the roadside, their laughter occasionally interrupting the tranquility around, unconcerned by the presence of others...
