Chapter 629: Chapter 290: A Nest Coming Up_1

It took Yan Fei nearly a day and a night to find a few trees that he was satisfied with. Although he didn’t exactly travel across lands and seas, he practically covered an extensive area within thousands of miles.

Given Yanfei’s impulsive nature where his actions move faster than his thoughts, he definitely couldn’t wait till the weekend when he delivers beef to work on his tree planting plan. Hence, as soon as the cattle farm was tucked in for the night with the construction work in full swing, he headed straight to the Provincial City to plant his trees.

As he left, the two golden eagles wanted to follow Xiaohei again. He had a brainwave, and he decided to let the two golden eagles accompany him on the trip. The reason he didn’t keep the golden eagles in the space was that he wanted them to familiarize themselves with the route.

Previously, he used to live in an old rented apartment that wasn’t easy to locate. Now, he was on his way to having his own house with a yard, where he could plant a few trees. If the golden eagles could get accustomed to the route, they could perform his legwork when he was not available!

In the past, people used pigeons to deliver messages. Nowadays, he himself got the chance to use golden eagles to deliver messages. He found it quite amusing.

There’s really no need to send messages, but the golden eagles are capable of carrying things. Hence, if his wife craves something in the future, he could have the golden eagles deliver it, couldn’t he?

It shouldn’t be too difficult to make this happen. After all, if several trees are planted in the yard, it serves as a clear target. Even if the eagles are not very smart they should easily find such an apparent destination, right?

But because he was leading the two golden eagles along the way, they didn’t have the speed to keep up with his transformed Xiaohei, so they arrived at the Provincial City a bit late.

However, this was ideal. After all, being in the Provincial City was not like being in the remote areas around the Sancha River where the streets would be deserted at night. The good thing about his residential land was its convenient location near the road. But being too close to the road also had its negative side. At least, he couldn’t dare to materialize a few trees out of nowhere and risk being discovered.

Upon arriving, he examined the passers-by on the road and decided to start digging holes for the trees first. It wasn’t until late at night, when there were fewer people and vehicles around, that he retrieved all the trees.

It wasn’t particularly convenient to fill in the soil alone, given the size of the trees. He had to prop up each tree with some wooden sticks before he could fill in the soil.

He planted two Duijie trees at the place designated for the main entrance. The remaining four trees were planted together, with additional cedar trees along the roadside perimeter.

The wind in the Provincial City was stronger, and the climate was drier than Wan City. If you could plant more trees around the house, you should plant as many as possible. Therefore, seeing that there was still some space left, he planted all the trees he had originally planned to abandon. These trees, like Cedar, were uprooted before he started working on the Duijie trees and were already brought here when no one was around.

At that time, he initially thought if there was not enough room, he would not plant them. But when the other trees were planted, he realized there was sufficient space to plant all the trees. He considered letting the tree crowns grow over the outer wall; if the overhanging branches got in the way of the neighbor’s construction in the future, he could just trim them down.

In this way, the future house would be surrounded by green trees except at the rear side.

He examined the trees once they were all planted. Except for planting the trees too close together due to his lack of experience, there were no other major problems. But since it’s his yard and the goal of planting the trees is for shading and aesthetics rather than for the timber, even if the density is high, it’s not a big mistake.

Tree planting took longer than he expected. Luckily, he had prepared well in advance and started by planting trees near the road. With these trees serving as a cover, his occasional use of ’superpowers’ to plant trees and magically water them didn’t grab any passerby’s attention. Even though early in the morning, people started passing by on their way to work.

At first, the two golden eagles were accompanying Yan Fei in his work. But after sunrise, with increased foot traffic, they started to circle in the sky. The location wasn’t far from the school, just two bus stops away or even closer if traveling in a straight line. Therefore, it wasn’t surprising that Miss Xu Xiaoyan could see them from the school when they took flight.

Seeing that he had missed Xu Xiaoyan’s breakfast time, Yan Fei didn’t hurry. He ran to a public phone near the zoo entrance, called Boss Wang, and then waited back at his place.

Taking advantage of this time, he stood inside the mini grove he created, and was pleased to realize that planting the trees tightly packed was not a bad thing; in fact, it had magically worked to his advantage.

There are plenty of high-rises in the Provincial City and undoubtedly more will be built. In such a case, if his yard is observed from these buildings, it would be exposed. Now that he’s got so many trees, as they grow bigger and taller, they provide some screen and protection.

Generally, people wouldn’t think so far ahead. However, Yan Fei, who often performed secret and shocking deeds, could create something out of nowhere at any time, therefore, he was more concerned about his privacy than other aspects.

Yan Fei was quite satisfied with the results of his hard work: now the house could be started to be built, and before long, he would have his own nest in the Provincial City!

Although this ’nest’ did cost a fair bit of money!

When Boss Wang drove over in his old car, he was truly astonished– in fact, he was nearly speechless from afar upon seeing the situation over here.

After getting out of the car, the more he looked at it, the more he felt that Student Yan was unearthingly mysterious.

At first, when he received the call, he didn’t think much of it. In his view, Student Yan would have just gotten a few common landscaping trees in a few days, just to greenify the surroundings.

From the moment he saw those thick Duijie trees, the closer he got, the more surprised he was––because the closer he got, the more he realized that the age of these trees was indeed far beyond his imagination.

The key point hadn’t even come yet. When he parked his car and got closer to the trees, he was even more stunned.

He had seen many ornamental trees in the Provincial City before, but these Duijie trees were rare in the Provincial City. The key point was that these trees were older than most commonly found. Even the park was hard-pressed to find trees this old, let alone rare species like these.

That was not all, once he had finished inspecting all of the trees, he even forgot to respond to Yan Fei’s greeting.

It wasn’t until Yan Fei called him twice that he came back to his senses, and hesitantly asked, "These trees of yours, Student Yan, they are wild, aren’t they?"

"Yes! They are from the mountains. I’m not very good at pruning yet, so I will gradually trim them once I’ve learned." Yan Fei nodded.

Having seen the trees in other people’s gardens, he knew that his trees differed significantly from those pruned ones. This difference could be seen at a glance, because he had rushed to transplant them, and some of the dead branches hadn’t been pruned yet!

"These trees look rare, they aren’t from our province, right?" Unable to resist, Boss Wang pointed at the Duijie trees and asked again. "They must have cost a fortune, no?"

"Mm, they were brought in from another province, didn’t cost much." Yan Fei answered non-committally. "The land is too small. I wanted to plant some bigger trees, but there wasn’t enough space, so just went with these ones that don’t take up much."

"Student Yan really gets things done!" After thinking for a while, Boss Wang didn’t know exactly what to say to express his admiration. Even when he said this sentence, he was unsure of what he wanted to convey.

Yan Fei, not fully understanding, just chuckled and said, "Now that the trees are planted, Boss Wang, can we start the construction?"

"Yes, yes!" After coming back to his senses, Boss Wang finally switched into contractor mode. "Don’t worry, I’ll have the workers be careful not to damage these trees!"

It’s no surprise that Boss Wang was careful, ignoring all other discussions and promising first and foremost to protect those trees. The construction industry—his trade—involves running around the outskirts of the Provincial City; Boss Wang was well-informed. The thickest of those trees transported from another province were so wide they couldn’t be circled by a person’s embrace. If they were damaged, it would undoubtedly cause significant problems.

While others may say it’s not worth much, the concept of money definitely varies for different people! What’s more, the shipping cost to transport them from another province wouldn’t be cheap––like other things, these trees are a challenge to ship. Their weight is not an issue, but they surely exceed the standard height and width. If one doesn’t have strong connections, it would be a nightmare to face the penalties imposed by highway authorities along the way.

So even without mentioning the cost, just the efficiency of transporting these trees over such a short period from another province was something Boss Wang could only aspire to.

While casual bantering with Yan Fei, Boss Wang was still thinking. These trees were dug up from the mountains, transported out, then loaded onto trucks and transported cross-province. This skill is truly unparalleled.
