Chapter 357: Chapter 77: The Last Day of the Crocodile King Militia (5000-word special Chapter wishing everyone a Happy New Year)_1

Having fed the Sarcosuchus King for most of the day, Yan Fei felt completely exhausted.

In previous days, the food he threw to the Sarcosuchus group was all scavenged, requiring minimal effort. It was purely for observing their eating habits.

But today, seeing the Sarcosuchus King appear, he couldn’t afford to scavenge leisurely anymore. All the fish were his own catches from the river’s estuary. He needed to monitor the size of the fish and calculate how much food he had already fed them. What if the big crocodile was fed up and decided to retreat to the cave for a good sleep? Then what would he do?

Right now, he had no time to feel tired. Having successfully lured the giant crocodile out, if he didn’t seize the opportunity and continue his efforts, all previous work would be in vain!

Yan Fei was busier than ever. The cinerous vulture was flying all night. When it returned, it rested only briefly before reentering the dinosaur world and diving into the river estuary to catch more fish.

When dawn broke over the dinosaur world, and the diligent pterosaurs had just started leaving their nests to hunt, the Sarcosuchus King received the food it desired, quite predictably.

Life was utterly blissful.

Sometimes, all he needed to do was open his mouth, and magically appearing food would land directly in it. By merely lifting its head, it could swallow down the food into its stomach. Nothing could be more fantastic than this.

Even a twenty-ton giant creature like the Sarcosuchus King, a creature with a naturally phenomenal appetite, considered three to five-meter-long fish as mere appetizers.

The fish today came in more varieties, and each was bigger and appeared more frequently than those of yesterday. Occasionally, chunky giant salamanders even showed up.

Crocodiles, creatures that survived on Earth for millions of years, had several abilities unmatched by most creatures. In addition to their powerful biting force, sharp senses, telescopic-like vision, and robust scales, they also had a high-digesting system.

They would swallow down any food they could, and then their potent stomach acid started to work its magic.

Animal bones were nothing, not to mention the shells of certain creatures like turtles, all crushed, swallowed, and completely digested by their stomach acid. Besides hair and similar animal parts, there was essentially nothing they couldn’t digest.

Under the scorching midday sun, the Sarcosuchus King meant to dive into the water to cool down when it felt cold water washing its scales. It had to be said, Yan Fei took care of it exceptionally attentively.

The intermittent flow of food lasted throughout the day, and the Sarcosuchus King was considering making this small pond its new home. After all, moving its enormous body consumed a lot of energy.

Crocodiles, as it so happened, were among the most energy-conserving creatures on the planet. If not, they could not afford to survive half a year on a single meal.

Normally, the water temperature of such a small pond would become high after being baked under the sun for most of the day. However, the temperature of this pond was occasionally lowered by incoming cool water, making it even more comfortable than the river.

The next day, and the day after...

The blissful days were so blissful that the Sarcosuchus King lost track of time.

Fish meat was relatively easy to digest. The Sarcosuchus King, which had been resting in the cave for who knows how long, felt the food it consumed in the past few days rapidly replenishing its energy. Finally, it felt full in its stomach.

Feeling full was a kind of happiness.

The Sarcosuchus King wanted to move its body a bit, but the heaviness in its stomach made it reluctant to do so.

The sun today was still blazing. However, it started to feel uncomfortably hot before the water was cooled down, which upset the Sarcosuchus King.

As a result, it had to struggle a bit to move its body, slightly retreating into the pond, hoping the water could submerge more of its body to help it cool down.

Why wasn’t its body cooperative?

The Sarcosuchus King was puzzled. Initially, it just wanted to float back a bit on the surface, but then it found its whole body started to sink into the pond.

It had to flick its tail and place its front limbs on the land by the pond to maintain its balance.

At that moment, another large fish appeared.

Even though it was a bit full, the instinct not to waste food made the Sarcosuchus King bite the big fish without any hesitation, then gulped it down.

This simple action of tilting its head relaxed its body control, and its entire body started to slide into the pond.

The pond was too small, hindering its movement. Further, some strange noise was coming from its gut. Being in the water, it distinctly felt the food in its stomach weighing it down excessively, so much so that it started pulling its body towards the bottom of the pond.

Having grown to such a large size, the Sarcosuchus King was certainly not lacking the wisdom to survive. To say the least, it knew that there was something wrong about itself. Under any circumstances, it shouldn’t have lost control of its body.

So, it became angry!

With a single flick of the tail, a large patch of water in the pond was swept away. After contorting its body a few times, the water level of the small pond dropped significantly.

But even so, maintaining its float on the surface was no longer an easy task as before. Its enormous body was relentlessly sinking to the bottom under its violent contortions, deeper and deeper, until the entire body was submerged.
