Chapter 347: Chapter 67 "Helplessly" Beating Someone_1
Despite clearly hearing Yan Fei’s question, the dark and skinny man chose to ignore it, continuing to listen to his subordinate’s report with a show of impressive fortitude.
He was probably waiting to make his grand entrance, announce his name, and say a few grandiose words, making everyone believe that he is not the unreasonable one. Perhaps he also planned to boost his reputation at the Cattle Market by bullying those two ’country bumpkins’.
Unfortunately for him, he crossed paths with someone who doesn’t quite understand the ’rules of the Jianghu’, and is particularly impatient.
Before he could finish his grandstanding, he felt a tap on his shoulder, followed by an impatient voice: "I’m talking to you! Are you in charge of them or not?"
Yan Fei felt that he had been extremely patient, as this was already his third reminder.
But to the thin, dark man, it felt like a huge insult. He twisted his head and roared at Yan Fei: "Can’t you see I am busy inquiring about the situation? Wait your damned turn!"
He had it all wrong. Being interrupted in the middle of a grandstanding speech might indeed be an insult. But if it’s Yan Fei who’s doing the interrupting, that reaction is not an insult at all. The real insult is what comes next.
After bellowing out those words, the dark thin man couldn’t turn his head back.
Next, he felt his neck tighten as he was lifted into the air. His face was also treated to a couple of smacking sounds.
This was Yan Fei reaching out, grabbing him by the neck, lifting him up, and giving him a couple of slaps to wake him up. Yan Fei had decided from the man’s words that he wouldn’t be mistaking who to hit.
Then, pulling him closer, he roared: "Do you want me to ask you a third time? Are you the leader!?"
His roar was deafening. It was as if thunder had struck on a clear day.
The man was stupefied with his face swollen, his ears buzzing, his eyes glazed over as he stared at Yan Fei, unable to utter a word.
The people around them were initially startled when Yan Fei suddenly sprung into action, and this roar left them again in stunned silence. Not only did the onlookers stay still, but also the subordinates of the dark man responded with no reaction.
Yan Fei didn’t have the time to hesitate either; seeing the pathetic state of the man in his hand, he casually tossed him to the ground.
Then he pounced on the group of men who were still in shock and began to fight like a storm breaking loose.
Whether they resisted or not, whether they ran or stood their ground, whether they dodged or not, it made no difference to him.
All of them fell to his blows.
Punching someone, to Yan Fei, is both simple and complex in different aspects.
As long as there’s a person standing before him, whoever they are, even if you claim to be a martial arts practitioner, they would all face the same fate under his fist or foot. He couldn’t hit more than that, or things would become complicated – it was even simpler than farming or tending to cows!
The complexity lies in the need to control the strength of his blows according to those who receive them.
For instance, if someone looks as fragile as a leaf in the wind, he needs to be extra careful not to punch too hard and accidentally kill them.
And if you’re a robust-looking fellow with the vitality of a bull, he can add a little more strength to the blow. Otherwise, they could still stand and glare at him or hurl insults, which would be rather embarrassing!
As he went on with his beating, Yan Fei lamented to himself about how he had pledged to keep a low profile just a few days ago. In a blink of an eye, he found himself involved in high-profile matters again. Life is indeed filled with helplessness!
As for the spectacle of Yan Fei beating someone up, there’s not much to say about that.
Those who usually act tyrannically at the Cattle Market may look formidable, but in front of Yan Fei, they’re no different from sheep facing a tiger. If we insist on using that analogy, then the sheep in the world would definitely protest: You’re utterly insulting us sheep!
The entire event ended in a blink of an eye. Heizi, watching Yan Fei give the beatdown, felt his blood boiling. Yet by the time his blood was only halfway to boiling point, the fight was already over.
Heizi felt unsatisfied by this, almost as if someone had patted him on the back while he was satisfyingly peeing into the wind, greatly ruining the moment!
Moans and screams echoed from the ground, the injuries were not dire, at most a few lost teeth caused by pain.
But a couple of them remained silent. Yan Fei had taken shortcuts with them.
He was supposed to raise his leg high and aim for the abdomen – a direct hit there hurts a lot. But those two guys were taller, and he was too lazy to raise his leg that high, so he just kicked them as is.
As a result, those two remained silent, holding the spot where they were kicked with a white face. They didn’t make a single noise. But they did break out in copious amounts of cold sweat.
After he was done, Yan Fei turned back and gave the leader a few more kicks in annoyance, grumbling: "Look at how pathetic you are, you’re far behind Zhang Laosan!"
Yan Fei had reasons to call him a coward. The man had only rolled a few circles after Yan Fei tossed him on the ground. He wasn’t injured badly, but when he witnessed his guys getting knocked down one after another, he decided to play dead.
Having chided, Yan Fei turned to the crowd and said, "Everyone saw that these people were trying to steal our cows. Anyone knows where the nearest police station is? Quickly help call the police! I’m Yan Fei from Sancha River town, remember that! I’m the one reporting to the police, to accuse these cattle thieves!"
All those bullying folk in the Cattle Market have families and dependents to feed. Very few were desperate drifters like Zhang Laosan. Yan Fei wasn’t afraid of them knowing who he was, and he spoke up with great conviction.
After his call to action, he pivoted, and addressed the crowd again, "You all saw my cows, right? They’re fattened cows raised in my own cattle farm. Anyone buying cows for slaughter, come and buy them for 3800 tael each now. Once we enter the police station, they’ll be off the market. Opportunities are limited, come buy them quick!"
A crowd of bodies still littered the ground, and he was already trying to sell the cattle.
He reassured everyone, "After the purchase, just lead the cattle home. This incident of me fighting against bullies and cattle thieves has nothing to do with you all; you’re just benefiting from it! Calmly buy the cows and leave. I will beat them again if I run into them in the future! As long as such people continue to exist in this market, I will fight them each time I see them, ensuring they won’t bother you!"
Seeing the scene, Heizi promptly chimed in: "Everyone rest assured, even if our boss enters the police station, he’s not committing a crime but fighting against injustice! Maybe they’ll even reward him! Our boss once caught cattle thieves and was rewarded by the police station. Everyone can be at ease, those who want to buy cows, come and buy them now! Don’t miss out on this great deal; once it’s late, there won’t be any left!"
After letting Heizi finish, Yan Fei signaled for him to lead the cows to one side to be sold, while he stayed to watch over the men lying on the ground.
