Chapter 1572: Chapter 753 Traitor_2

"Hmm!" Xu Xiaoyan nodded. "She said she’ll transfer the money to you first and might come over during the National Day holiday to sign the contract then."

"It doesn’t matter, she can come anytime." Yan Fei really didn’t care anymore. Before, when he was too poor, he had to ask others to pay first. Now he can’t even spend all his money, so it doesn’t matter whether he is paid earlier or later. As long as the negotiations here go well, he can start preparing, since he isn’t worried about Guo Jingya not being able to pay.

"If she comes to Provincial City, are we going back too?" Xu Xiaoyan asked.

"We’ll see when she gets here." Yan Fei casually folded a Griddle Cake, placed it on a plate, and offered it to her. "Here, you eat first."

The girl took it without hesitation, and didn’t forget to tell him: "You eat too, these will get cold in no time."

Originally, Yan Fei was going to feed the slightly burnt ones to the dogs later, but he immediately changed his mind upon the girl’s invitation, waving the spatula in one hand and literally grabbing a bite with the other.

Eventually, Yan Fei made another two bowls of Griddle Cake soup, sprinkled some green onions and drizzled sesame oil on them, and a large bowl for each made up their lunch.

After carrying the gas tank into the kitchen, Yan Fei called Heizi to inform him about Guo Jingya’s plans to open a new restaurant.

After watching a movie with his wife, Yan Fei and his wife took a bicycle and an electric scooter, heading towards the university. Not long after splitting up at the intersection, he saw Hu Yidao and a few others anxiously standing where they had parted at noon, scanning the area.

As soon as they saw Yan Fei, Hu Yidao sprinted ahead leading the group towards him.

The group was all there, Han Ming, Mao Jie, and of course Qiu Longbo, who had nearly caused a tragedy due to a wrestling incident.

Although they weren’t too conspicuous under the roadside trees just now, their run certainly drew a lot of attention — none of them seemed to bend their arms while running, and most peculiarly, they were all wearing long sleeves despite the scorching weather.

Seeing this, Yan Fei knew their intentions and couldn’t help but laugh, though he restrained himself given the context.

He was genuinely happy; firstly, seeing his new classmates armed under their sleeves with sticks and iron rods—probably they had disassembled dormitory chairs—made him feel that his showcasing the ’tool’ at noon wasn’t in vain.

It’s a small thing to take apart things, but they knew why they came out and had certainly considered the worst-case scenarios beforehand.

The worst-case scenario would be finding Yan Fei fighting outside, and them rushing in with their weapons, leading to everyone getting expelled.

Whether it was youthful impulsiveness or naivety, or even severely speaking, they were already university students acting irresponsibly towards their own lives... The point was, they came out, and Yan Fei just felt incredibly happy about it.

Secondly, their appearance was quite amusing—imagine a group of university students, running in the streets in long sleeves while everyone else wore short sleeves, their arms awkwardly stiff, it was truly a funny sight.

This scene was likely to linger in Yan Fei’s memory for a while.

"I already told you there was nothing to worry about, what are you guys doing?" As they approached, Yan Fei spoke sternly before they could.

Despite feeling happy inside, rationally, such behavior wasn’t worthy of encouragement.

"We were worried something had happened to you!" Hu Yidao chuckled. "I went back to call them, and we came out prepared but couldn’t find you anywhere. Where did you go with them?"

"No worries, just met a guy called Brother Da Fei, some small-time gang leader." Yan Fei spoke light-heartedly. "I lectured them a bit, told them I’m a celebrity, admitted into Cambridge University. They bowed their heads right away, insisting on making me their boss. But as students of the new century, how can we lead a bunch of thugs? Of course, I declined. Didn’t even join them for a meal..."

Hearing Yan Fei ramble on with his bluff, everyone looked visibly relieved and smiled.

"What Brother Da Fei? Our Brother Fei is the real awesome." Everyone knew things probably weren’t as simple as Yan Fei put it, but since he didn’t want to elaborate, they didn’t press further.

"Of course." After his boastful remark, Yan Fei sighed. "Ah, you just reminded me. I really should have told that Brother Da Fei earlier."

"What are you saying?" Mao Jie asked teasingly.

"Stop calling yourself Brother Da Fei, it’s embarrassing. I’m barely called Brother Fei and here you are, a little punk, daring people to call you Brother Da Fei—it’s totally disrespectful to me," Yan Fei lamented with the melancholy of an expert.

"Haha..." All the classmates burst out laughing.

"Seriously though, it’s all good now," Yan Fei said earnestly. "I know some professors at Agricultural University, and I mentioned a few names of our alumni who graduated before us. They’re doing quite well now, and just by dropping a few names, that so-called Brother Da Fei backed off. He promised me he won’t loiter around the school anymore, so everyone can relax!"

That makes a lot more sense!

Everyone finally felt relieved, starting to express their gratitude towards him. Especially Qiu Longbo, who acted as if he would follow Brother Fei’s lead from now on, making everyone else laugh again.

"What time is it now? Are you still planning to attend classes this afternoon?" Yan Fei interrupted their thank-yous to remind them.

"Oh no..." A classmate who had a watch glanced at the time, panicking. "Hurry up, class is starting in less than a minute."

Just as everyone was about to dash towards the school’s main gate, Hu Yidao quickly shouted, "Split up and take different paths. Some of you go through the back gate. If we are late, the worst we’ll get is a reprimand, but if someone discovers what we brought with us, we’re done for."

They were carrying items they took from the dormitory, prepared for mischief. If the school found out, it would be more than just a few words of criticism.

Realizing the situation, everyone prepared to split up, but Yan Fei cheerfully suggested, "You guys could wrap everything together and put it in the back of my car."

"Brilliant idea, boss," the quick-witted Mao Jie immediately stripped off his long sleeves and placed his wooden stick on it. "The rest of you hurry up and put yours in, wrap it up, and place it on the back seat. Old Hu, what were you thinking? We should have thought of using clothes to wrap the sticks from the beginning, instead of carrying them individually and splitting up..."

Hu Yidao’s face turned darker; hiding the sticks in sleeve tubes was a ’tradition’ for easy access. However, compared to Yan Fei’s idea, it seemed foolish. Using clothes as a cover was more convenient and secretive; as long as no one lifted it to look, who would know what was underneath?

After putting away the sticks, everyone took off their long sleeves while taking turns chiding Hu Yidao, "No wonder you’re just an assistant class monitor, look at our class president, he actually uses his brain..."

"Exactly!"

"Bunch of hoodlums, carrying things on them, just seems low-grade. In movies, the real big shots pack their stuff together..."

"Nonsense, aren’t those guys you mentioned ready to rob a bank? What they carry is totally different from what we have..."

"Anyway, Old Hu’s idea doesn’t work, we shouldn’t listen to him anymore."

"Right, right, right..."

When everyone started out, there was inevitably some pressure, since even if they were prepared for the worst, not being at all concerned wasn’t realistic.

Now that the issue was beautifully resolved, they relaxed, and Hu Yidao, the originator of the bad idea, became the target of everyone’s teasing.

Yet Old Hu clearly didn’t care; he might be a bit rough around the edges, but he knew they considered him close enough to joke about, which is more than what could be said for others!

Moreover, after what happened at noon, everyone felt their relationship had grown closer, and the atmosphere changed noticeably, allowing them to joke more freely.

After Yan Fei finished packing the items, he cheerfully hopped on his bike and took off: "Keep talking, I’m going to class now. Hahaha, don’t worry about the teacher calling the roll; I, as your class president, will surely record the list of latecomers and hand it to the teacher..."

The group immediately shifted their teasing to him, laughing and chasing after his bike: "Stop right there, you traitor..."

Leading the pack on his bike and about to rush into the campus, Yan Fei felt gleeful: Is this what college life is like? Not bad at all!
