Chapter 1467: Chapter 708: Testing_2

"Gan, why not do it!" Lin Haihu instantly perked up, flexing all his muscles. "I’d climb a mountain of swords or descend into a sea of flames at your word. What’s up? How much are you paying?"

"Very simple." Yan Fei pulled out two hundred yuan, thought for a second, put it back, and rummaged through his pocket again to find a fifty. "Fifty bucks. Tomorrow, you bring something to that teacher and tell him it’s a secret nutrient for beef cattle from the farm...something really good that has to be mixed in each time you feed the cattle. How about it?"

"Only fifty?" Lin Haihu felt disappointed for a moment but then slapped his chest, promising, "Fifty it is. Hand it over! Talking money hurts the vibe between brothers. Just tell me what to bring. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied with my work."

"What if you don’t do it well?" Yan Fei looked at him, hand outstretched, but not giving him the money. "I’ll pay you after you’ve done the job."

"If I can’t do it well, can I just return the money to you?" Lin Haihu was dissatisfied. "Between brothers, don’t we even have this trust? It’s only fifty yuan, and you’re still waiting to pay later. What’s the point?"

"Alright, alright, here it is." Yan Fei didn’t say much more and handed over the money, then started looking around.

After a quick scan, Yan Fei picked out a broken instant noodle bag from the trash can by the door, scraped together a little from several piles of powdery substances, and after mixing it up, he handed Lin Haihu almost half a bag: "This is it. Tell him this is our nutrient, so securely kept that we have to weigh it every time we feed; you could only dare to steal this much."

"What is this? There better not be poison in it, right? Don’t set me up." Lin Haihu glanced around, a bit worried.

The lab, to those from the farm, was a place of mystery and sophistication. People inevitably hold some awe for things they don’t understand.

"It’s just a mixture for adjusting soil pH levels and some fungicides, fertilizer used for Agaricus bisporus. I’m definitely not setting you up. Take it and go!" Yan Fei casually explained.

"Alright then!" Lin Haihu understood it was fertilizer and, reassured by the thought that Yan Fei wouldn’t set him up, he took the bag.

"Hold on to it properly, remember to take it to him first thing tomorrow morning, and say exactly what I just told you. Got it?" Yan Fei instructed.

"I’ve got it all memorized!" Lin Haihu started to repeat the instructions. "This is our farm’s secret stuff; we always have to carefully weigh it and add a little bit each time we feed the cattle... Right, if you give him this stuff, isn’t he going to realize it’s fake?"

"You said he’s a foreign language teacher, didn’t you?" Yan Fei nonchalantly replied. "If he were a chemistry teacher, I’d have to prepare something more convincing, but he’s a foreign language teacher, so it’s fine. Don’t worry and just give it to him!"

The truth was, even if he were a chemistry teacher, there was no need to worry. At No.2 High School, even if a professor from the Agricultural University were to come, they wouldn’t have a clue. Because the school’s lab storage is but a few test tubes and an extremely scarce amount of experimental materials – not only are they shockingly few in number, whether they’ve expired or not is a whole other question.

Anyway, classes in the school were usually all talk; come the end of the semester, not to mention students doing experiments, the number of hands-on demonstrations actually carried out by teachers could be counted on one’s fingers.

Under these circumstances, even if that teacher were a professional, he wouldn’t have the materials to conduct a test.

If this teacher truly came here to spy, then he could only be a foreign language teacher. If he came to teach chemistry, he wouldn’t be able to enter the school since after the science and humanities split, No.2 High only has two science classes and they’re not short on chemistry teachers, but in need of specialized English teachers.

Lin Haihu took the bag to the door and looked it over, feeling that one bag wasn’t secure enough. He picked up another instant noodle bag to wrap around it before finally shoving it into his pocket with peace of mind.

Yan Fei saw him off, then fell into deep thought: just to probe for some information, is it necessary to go to such professional lengths? To come here and be a teacher?

After pondering for a long time and not figuring it out—he’s been pretty low-key lately, right? How come people are targeting him again?

Might as well go take a look!

After locking the lab door and taking a walk around the zoo, especially preparing some delicious food for the two tigresses, Yan Fei then entered his room and flew out the window.

Arriving at the school, he found the teacher’s room Lin Haihu mentioned. He transformed into a small insect and flew in, buzzing around the small office.

Just a small office, really nothing interesting to look at – just a set of desk, chairs, and a bench, plus cooking equipment and a bed with two boxes. Nothing else worth seeing.

I can’t just open the boxes to see what’s inside. The room is too small, and people are sleeping there – any slight noise could wake them up.

If there’s no problem, then let’s wait for tomorrow!

After returning, Yan Fei watched the aircraft carrier for a while and wrote some novels, then as it was almost time for morning self-study, he called for Heizi, telling him he had some urgent matters to attend to, and asked him to take care of things – Boss Yan was planning to keep an eye on that teacher all day.

Lin Haihu, this guy, entered the classroom early in the morning and didn’t go running; he just lay on his desk and dozed off. None of the class cadres bothered to disturb him – they all knew he was Boss Yan’s cousin. Not only the students, but teachers were also generally reluctant to offend him.

After everyone returned from running and rested for a few minutes, the English teacher wandered over. Lin Haihu, who had been drowsy on his desk, perked up when he saw the teacher. As the teacher made a round and was about to leave, Lin Haihu sneakily slipped out and caught up to the teacher, shouting, "Teacher Xiao, why aren’t you sitting in the classroom?"

"You’re skipping class again, aren’t you?" Teacher Xiao said with a smile, no sign of scolding. "You still need to learn something. What if your cousin’s business grows bigger? You’ll need to manage on your own, and how can you do that without any knowledge!"

"What’s there to fear? Even if I can’t manage on my own, he won’t let me live a bad life!" Lin Haihu said in a carefree manner. "Besides, maybe I’ll raise cattle and start my own ranch in the future. Who wants to work for him forever!"

"Oh?" Teacher Xiao sounded surprised. "You’ll do it yourself? If you don’t do it well and don’t make much money, you might as well work for him doing something easier."

"Who said I can’t do it well!" Lin Haihu was very stubborn, his head raised to the sky. "Just you wait and see, I’ll definitely be able to raise cattle that fetch high prices, just like my cousin!"

"Really?" Teacher Xiao expressed doubt. "Where does this confidence come from?"

"Top secret! Hehe..." Lin Haihu didn’t notice Teacher Xiao’s expression and casually touched his pocket, letting out a sly chuckle. "Anyway, I’m sure I can do it well!"

Teacher Xiao caught his small movement, and his expression subtly changed: people were already wearing thin clothes due to the weather, and the pocket of Lin Haihu’s clothes was small. The small half-bag of ’nutrients’ he got from Yan Fei barely fit, and a corner of a ramen noodle bag was sticking out.

Seeing his smug look, Teacher Xiao thought for a moment and said, "You came to the morning self-study with instant noodles. Can you really stomach that early in the morning?"

"Humph! Who told you that’s instant noodles? This is..." Lin Haihu stopped himself. "Never mind, I won’t tell you. When I become a big boss in the future, I won’t forget you. With your excellent English, you’re going to help me sell beef to foreigners!"

The two of them chatted and walked to the office. Once entering the office, Lin Haihu didn’t hesitate, found a chair and sat down: "I wanted to ask you about whether I should bother with school."

Teacher Xiao picked up a thermos to pour him a cup of water and casually offered him a cigarette from the table: "Seeing as you’re so confident, have one – but only one!"

"Teacher, you are the best, hehe!" Lin Haihu skillfully took it, placed it in his mouth, and took out a lighter from his pocket to light it. "Once I become a big boss, if I want to study, I can still study, right?"

"Are you really confident you can raise the cattle well?" Teacher Xiao asked with a smile. "I think it’s best if you keep studying while you can. Raising cattle is not something that can be done overnight. Shouldn’t you give it a try first? What will you do if you fail to raise the cattle well and also drop out of school?"
