Carrying a Jurassic on me
Chapter 1461 - 705

Chapter 1461: 705

"Let’s go!" Yan Fei didn’t want to stay any longer, he wanted to head back soon to see what the news were saying in detail and what opinions were online. He planned to take the opportunity to share a few of those... brilliant and unique ideas he had just heard.

"Don’t go... hey... ah..." The young man tried to stop him by reaching out his hand, but Yan Fei grabbed him and hoisted him onto the horse. The fellow hadn’t even reacted and was now sitting on the horse, dumbfounded!

A moment ago, many people were watching this scene, ready to enjoy the ’show’, only to witness the somewhat magical spectacle that had just occurred, leaving them a bit stunned. Most of them didn’t even clearly see how the young man suddenly ’appeared’ on the horse.

"Let’s go! Hurry up and take the betting stakes and leave." Yan Fei called out to the ’Two Trees’ brothers who were still in a bit of a daze.

"Oh oh oh..." The two kids snapped out of it and looked at Yan Fei with eyes full of admiration. "Brother Fei, you... you’re really too awesome!"

The rules of the betting game were set up in advance, and the total stakes were divided among the winners according to a predetermined proportion based on each person’s bet—an easy calculation. After collecting the money, Yan Fei turned to Wang Wei to say goodbye, mounted his horse, slapped it, and rode off, with the two little guys yelling excitedly as they followed.

During the drive back, the ’Two Trees’ brothers were ceaselessly expressing their admiration, amusing Yan Fei: "You won one round and took off, why didn’t you bet a few more times?"

"Haven’t you heard? Don’t push your luck." Chen Yingsong said, patting his bulging pocket contentedly. "Each time, we divide our pocket money into three parts and bet only three times with a proportion of 1:2:3, and if we win any of the three, we stop betting."

Yan Fei quickly understood—these two kids really had a good head for money. In free betting games, betting only on the first place with five families losing and one winning, even after deducting the competitors’ prizes and the cut for organizing the betting, the amount won was still significant. According to the kids’ betting method, aside from the first round, as long as they could win any of the following two rounds, they would be able to recoup the money lost and even make a good profit.

But then a question arose: "What if you guys lost all three times?"

"Then we just tighten the belt a little and spend less." Chen Yingfeng explained. "After all, we don’t really need to spend much anyway, not to mention we’ve won more than we lost in the past, and we still have our private savings!"

Thinking it over, Yan Fei realized these kids didn’t really have anywhere to spend their money and didn’t have much opportunity to ’spread their wings’ and have fun, so they treated this like a game. He found it somewhat understandable. A few thousand dollars probably seemed no different to these two rascals than the few coins pocket money to those naughty children in the countryside—losing it might sting for a moment, but it was just that, a moment.

Even so, Yan Fei felt the need to reevaluate these two naughty children; money was a small matter, but being able to restrain themselves from continuing to bet after losses demonstrated a stronger self-control than many other kids—the little rascals did have their ’private money’ after all.

"Anyway, if we really need money, we can just sweet-talk our mom." Chen Yingsong added with a mischievous smile. "Usually, Yingfeng just opens his mouth and puts on an act, and whether it’s grandpa or mom, they give us double what we ask for..."

Yan Fei imagined the scene, considering Chen Yingfeng’s usual behavior at home—a child who seemed timid and even a bit weak, after much mental struggle, finally mustering the courage to approach his parents and voice his wants. Even if it’s just about money, parents would feel happy in such moments.

Thinking about their performance at the race track just now, Yan Fei couldn’t help laughing: "Do you guys get tired of putting on an act every day at home?"

"Just think about how much it would hurt to get smacked." Chen Yingsong calmly stated. "If we behave well, they are happy, and when we occasionally make small mistakes, they don’t get too upset. Even Second Brother doesn’t dare to provoke us and he has to pamper us. It’s a good arrangement!"

What have these two kids gone through to be thinking about so many things!

Considering the naughty children he knew and looking at these two little rascals, there was no comparison!

The three of them chatted and soon arrived at Chen Yingjun’s house. As soon as they entered, Yan Fei unceremoniously dashed into the room with a computer to start looking at the news.

Mysterious disappearance reemerges, America Aircraft Carrier vanishes out of thin air!

God no longer protects America, Aircraft Carrier mysteriously missing!

An aircraft carrier and thousands aboard it vanish without a trace, America’s Department of Defense issues an emergency statement...

Multiple countries enter a state of military readiness, in response to the mysterious disappearance...

This news is the top headline on all websites, either in bold and enlarged fonts or in blood-red, gruesomely large letters, as thrilling as it gets.

There were mysterious disappearances before, but the internet wasn’t as developed then, and those events didn’t make much impact; some even happened decades ago, and at most, people would treat them as weird tales. Unlike this time, an aircraft carrier and so many people on it just suddenly disappeared—there’s no bigger news than this.

It’s like in the past, people loved to talk about the supernatural, but if a ghost suddenly appeared, there probably wouldn’t be many who could remain calm.

On the forums of major websites, almost all the posts on the first page are related to the mysterious disappearance. Yan Fei was thinking about whether to register a few accounts to share some versions he heard, but after reading a few posts, he realized there was no need.

Without going online, you can never imagine how people’s thoughts can shoot beyond the sky—views on this incident range from the apocalypse to some country’s development of mysterious weapons, from wormhole theories to overlapping universal spaces, and so on; there’s no lack of any kind of explanation.

Yan Fei originally thought what he heard was ’ingenious,’ but now that he has seen these posts, he knows that what he heard at the racetrack is rather conventional; he estimates that even if he posted, it would sink to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean within two seconds.

The theory of the Great Devil descending from the heavens is also repeatedly mentioned, with some claiming they are soldiers from that very warship, who witnessed a giant shadow engulfing the whole world and swallowed the aircraft carrier in one gulp...

Others claim that due to the impending ’Great Cross,’ time and space were chaotic, and they saw a black hole appear in front of the aircraft carrier, devouring it...

The internet is flooded with all kinds of strange statements, overshadowing the official announcements from some countries—netizens widely express, "Stop fooling us, don’t treat us like fools; we want the truth!"

The truth my ass, apart from Boss Yan who’s currently enjoying the show, who can tell the truth?

So most official statements are urging restraint, first spouting a bunch of ’theories’ that even the speakers themselves don’t understand to prove that this event is nothing but a fluke, followed by various experts making all kinds of well-founded speculations, stating that similar incidents are unlikely to happen again.

The key point is, the incident has already occurred, and all those speculations seem quite feeble!

Indeed, everyone is quite restrained, at least most are still sitting in front of their computers, venting all sorts of panic, suppression, dissatisfaction... and even joy and excitement through their keyboards.

Don’t be surprised, there are always lunatics around. On an international forum, someone openly declared, hoping that the apocalypse would come sooner to destroy this filthy world!

And shockingly, this view is supported by not a few.

Some even posted photos on the forums, saying they’ve built bunkers, stocked up enough food, and are summoning people willing to hide with them to confront the incoming apocalypse—of course, a small part specifically indicates ’only the opposite sex welcome, to ’continue the human civilization’ together, the intention behind it is brazenly clear.

Even more astonishingly, while Yan Fei was browsing, a new piece of news popped up—a Barbarian land has seen an incident of someone strafing the streets with guns, and the arrested suspect had the audacity to declare they wanted to do something memorable before the end of the world.

Looking at those emotionally charged statements and absurd behaviors, Yan Fei started to hesitate whether he should add fuel to the fire for those Barbarians!

Anyway, on our local forums, the general view is quite composed. Although there are strange opinions, many people are just talking, and overall, it looks much stronger than the chaotic behavior of those Barbarians.
