Chapter 1424: Chapter 690: Boss Niu’s Hometown_2
Yan Fei wondered why he was traveling with a group of animals, and the reason was simple. Xu Xiaoyan had been at home for two days, and just last night, while watching Little Tiger, she mentioned inadvertently, "Thinking about it, this little tiger is really pitiful; born without freedom. And Tiger Da and the others too are restricted except for the two Jins who have some freedom."
That comment was just an emotional remark, but Boss Yan decided immediately, "That’s nothing, although we can’t set them free, taking them to the mountains for fun is possible. Let’s go tomorrow..."
He then thought about nearby places with mountains and water, and people he knew, and gave Boss Niu a call—having often listened to Old Niu boasting about how great the mountains and waters were in his hometown, it was a good opportunity to check it out.
Only Tiger Da was brought from the tigers, as Tiger San needed to care for the little tiger, and Tiger Er was pregnant judging by its swollen belly—it wouldn’t be long before the zoo welcomed a few new tiger cubs!
The place Old Niu took Yan Fei to was his hometown, where the village was not far from a lake, and the mountain wasn’t huge, but the scenery was still quite good. The road was decent, a concrete road built by Old Niu after he had made his fortune. It was a bit narrow, but it had already drawn envious glances from other villages—a local characteristic, where a village benefits if someone thrives. That’s why many villages collectively send students to college.
It wasn’t convenient for large vehicles on this road, but when people saw Boss Niu’s car leading the way, they voluntarily cleared the path, even directing a small tractor directly into the wheat field to let them pass.
They didn’t enter the village, but stopped right at a threshing ground at the entrance. Just as a few people got out of the car, and before they could speak, villagers who saw them started heading their way. In an instant, a crowd had gathered around Boss Niu’s car, with some even asking if Boss Niu wanted to host guests at his home, yelling about bringing chickens, ducks, and fish to their house—giving Boss Niu a lot of face in front of outsiders delighted him immensely.
It was not easy to disperse the villagers, but once they did, Old Niu said to Yan Fei, "All clear now, let’s get those animals down. We can take this small path here; the lake is not far, and it’s easy to enter the mountains from there. I’ve already informed Secretary Qu about the animals over the phone, so no worries."
As he spoke, his son, who had just run out from the village, came panting with two burlap bags in hand, "Dad, I’ve brought everything. There’s food too, some Dry Cakes, Buns, and some Braised Meat, and I’ve brought water, along with stuff for cooking..."
Bringing food was Yan Fei’s idea as he planned to venture deeper into the mountains, was bringing his wife for a fun day, and had some undisclosed reasons too.
Old Niu opened one of the bags, checking the Mountain Opening Knives inside while explaining to Yan Fei, "These wild animals are really strange. A few years back, they were nowhere to be seen, and we thought the wild boars in these mountains were extinct. Surprisingly, these past two years they’ve made a comeback..."
Looking at those items, Yan Fei laughed, "Just bring more food, bringing these is superfluous, isn’t it?"
Old Niu chuckled, "Better safe than sorry! I know your Kung Fu is good, and that tiger of yours is big, but we’re just playing around; it’s an additional safety measure!"
Yan Fei smiled indifferently, "Having them is fine; if we encounter wild boars, we’ll have knives to cut meat with."
He then turned to Secretary Qu who was nearby, "Secretary Qu, stay back a bit. I’ll unload the gear from the car and then we can head out."
Xu Xiaoyan immediately ran up to help him. Insisting on carrying a large bag filled with food herself, she appeared ready and eager for a camping adventure.
When he opened the rear flap, Yan Fei called out and Tiger Da leaped out first, shaking his body, ready to let out a loud roar. Yan Fei was quick, with a swift slap he commanded, "Don’t yell!"
It really couldn’t yell; people were still peering towards them from the village entrance not far away. The car blocked their view, but if Tiger Da opened its mouth, it would probably startle the whole village.
Having calmed Tiger Da, Da Xiong and Bear Er also jumped down and came to wrestle with Yan Fei, who pushed them down and held them to the ground. Miss Xu Xiaoyan agilely jumped onto the truck, ran inside, and opened a cage to release the Sable. These few little ones were also quite smart, closely following behind her, knowing with her there, they had nothing to fear from the bigger and goofier ones.
Seeing everything was ready, Yan Fei looked up, saw two black dots in the sky, waved his hand, and announced, "Off we go!"
Just as he was about to step forward, he noticed Secretary Qu and his attendant looking a bit pale, so he said with a smile, "Don’t worry, you and Brother Niu follow behind at a distance, we’ll lead with the animals."
Old Niu chuckled heartily, "Secretary Qu, don’t worry! I often visit Boss Yan, and though these tigers look big, they’re actually very obedient."
Saying that, he walked ahead beside Yan Fei, giving them a demonstration, "See, they’re okay, right?"
Miss Xu Xiaoyan flicked her ponytail and strode forward boldly, "I’ll lead the way, Yanfei, you stay behind and make sure they don’t run off."
Several sables then darted out from nests in the roadside grass, following them and Yan Fei patted Tiger Da before kicking Da Xiong and Bear Er, then those fellows immediately lined up and followed.
Secretary Qu chuckled nervously, "Boss Yan, your animals are well-trained!"
