Chapter 1137: Chapter 580: 5 Currency Detectors, High-tech Office_3
After going out, he had been busy at Dinosaur World all night, and then he came to Provincial City early in the morning to prepare to purchase a batch of computers to take back.
Accounting was too busy; with computers, Xiang Rui and the others could relax a bit. Moreover, these days, technology was a trend, so he wanted Heizi and the rest to start learning early to avoid rushing to learn it when it became necessary.
The market had not opened when he arrived, but it was almost time, so he stood in the crowd and waited for a while. Unexpectedly, he overheard those young people talking about Old Zhao.
The small business owners did not like the kind of seller who ’broke the rules,’ but buyers loved them. Yan Fei was very casual about buying things, and he had intended to find the store where he had bought computers last time, but after listening to their conversation, he set his sights on Old Zhao—solely because of his saying that business must be done with sincerity.
Old Zhao, upon hearing this man talk about raising cattle, could only feel astonished and did not know what to say, so he simply bowed his head and hurriedly wrote up the invoice!
After the invoice was written, the young man who had gone to look for a vehicle came running back: "Uncle, all the cars went out to carry goods this morning; I couldn’t find any car. Would it be alright to use two or three tricycles instead?"
Old Zhao’s face instantly showed embarrassment as he looked at the young man buying computers and then at his nephew: This is how you handle affairs? No wonder you can only be a small employee running errands in the market!
Yan Fei didn’t mind: "Fine, as long as we don’t have to carry them ourselves, it doesn’t matter; it’s not far anyway."
It took several trips for four people to carry the computers to the tricycles—the monitors were bulky, and one person could handle only one at a time.
Eventually, the goods were loaded, but there was no space left for people on the small tricycle used to haul them.
So, they found another tricycle to take Yan Fei, Old Zhao, and another young man over.
Luckily, the place wasn’t too far. Upon arrival, Yan Fei saw the tricycle driver pedaling along and quickly called out, "You’ve passed it, it’s over here, this is the courtyard."
The tricycle driver stopped and looked at the courtyard in befuddlement, "This is residential? I’d always thought this was some sort of public garden, always wondering why they kept the door closed, not letting us take a look inside!"
Yan Fei couldn’t help but laugh and didn’t bother to reply: If I built the house and didn’t live in it, what would be the point?
Old Zhao and his group were stunned, only now realizing how modest the young man had been when purchasing the computers.
With the new housing policy released, the state had abolished the housing distribution system. Housing prices in Provincial City had started to rise, from a few hundred yuan, close to a thousand now—and those were apartment prices. The price for a self-built house with a courtyard was definitely different. Looking at this house and courtyard, as the tricycle driver mentioned, those unaware might really think it was a garden!
This young man claimed his company was small and that he raised cattle. What kind of cattle, and what kind of ’small company’ could afford to build such a house in this location? Even looking at those few trees, it didn’t seem like a place where ordinary people lived!
Yan Fei didn’t care about their astonishment. As soon as he entered, a Tibetan Mastiff as large as a lion waddled over with its tail wagging. He shooed the big guy aside and told the others, "Come in first. Don’t mind the dog; it’s big but obedient and won’t bite."
This trip, he wanted to take the chance to bring back the black lion that Chen Yingjun was concerned about—having it stay in Dinosaur World indefinitely wasn’t ideal, so it was perfect timing to bring it back home.
Old Zhao and the others were startled by the black lion at first, but as they dazedly helped push the two tricycles inside, they saw a shiny little car that could reflect a person’s silhouette, with an especially conspicuous circle containing three sticks on the hood.
After all, they all hung around in Provincial City; even if they hadn’t eaten pork, they’d seen pigs run. The talkative tricycle driver who didn’t quite understand yet exclaimed in amazement, "That car looks really impressive, definitely not affordable for ordinary folks."
The nephew that was with Old Zhao chimed in, "You got that part right, this car probably costs around a hundred thousand or more!"
"Good gracious!" The chatty driver exclaimed upon hearing this and immediately moved the tricycle a bit farther back. "I’ll stay away a bit; if I were to scratch or bump it, I could never afford the damages."
Yan Fei was too busy to bother with their chatter, opened the trunk, and said to Old Zhao, "Boss Zhao, help me look after the loading; try to fit everything in the trunk. If that’s not enough, we can put some in the front passenger seat. The back seat has to fit the dog, it’s a bit tight, thanks for the trouble."
Old Zhao was far more respectful and careful now than he had been at the start, "Boss Yan, it’s no trouble at all, what’s this to fuss about? Oh, should we lay something down in the trunk? I’m worried the boxes might get damaged inside."
Yan Fei waved his hand dismissively, "No worries, just load it up! That’s what it’s for, no need to fret about bumps or scrapes. You go ahead and load; I’ll get you guys a glass of water..."
"No need, no need, Boss Yan, don’t trouble yourself. It’s just this little bit of work and will be done soon, no need for tea!"
...
Prosperity is not just something everyone envies, sometimes it can be intimidating. Wealth unobtrusively flaunted is not an easy achievement for all.
Seeing the noticeable restraint in the behavior of the few people, even the normally talkative tricycle driver fell silent. Yan Fei didn’t bother to say more. He wanted to help, but Old Zhao and the others didn’t let him, so he just stood there and watched them load the car.
The trunk space was indeed insufficient; the main units and monitors in their boxes took up a lot of room. In the end, Yan Fei relented, suggesting, "See if you can fit some under the rear seats; otherwise, let Heizi crouch on the back seat and make do."
