Chapter 1126: Chapter 577: Don’t Want the Money Even if It’s Given

"Not bad, not bad!" Professor Qi, with his hands clasped behind his back, said beamingly to Yan Fei. "You really found a great place!"

Even though the sun was still blazing and the construction site behind them was bustling, walking on the grass between the bamboo grove and the river, listening to the bamboo swaying and the river rushing, one could still feel a sense of tranquility and coolness.

Speaking of which, this bamboo grove had been Old Zhutou’s ancestral property, but now he spent most of his time with his son and grandchildren in the big city with no intention of returning to his hometown. He knew that his heritage was likely to have no successor.

That’s why Yan Fei had contacted him previously, and though Old Zhutou was reluctant, he had no choice but to agree heartbreakingly to transfer the bamboo grove to him.

Upon hearing Professor Qi’s praise, Yan Fei explained, "This place used to be unwanted land. Originally, the vacant land on the west side was where I used to catch rabbits. Later, when I had money, I rented it for ten years with five hundred yuan. It’s not that I found a good place; this land was just sitting here, and if I hadn’t taken it, it’d probably still be deserted!"

Old He chuckled aside, "You always knew how to be modest! I felt this place was great the last time, but sadly I didn’t stay long because of the tight schedule. This time I must stay a few more days. I say you don’t even think of finishing the houses first; living here would be so comfortable!"

Yan Fei laughed, "Next year, next summer vacation come again, and there will definitely be houses. Professor Shu said with the current weather, there’s no rush with housing. First, build a basic structure for the overall planning of River Heart Island. Later, depending on what needs to be built and the construction period, plans can be adjusted any time. I don’t understand much about such big projects, so I have to listen to the teachers."

Professor Shu had met with the two professors last night, and they never ran out of things to talk about. But as of today, with work starting, Professor Shu had no time to accompany them around.

Professor He’s wife hadn’t come along either; she stayed behind studying the dietary supplement recipes Yan Fei had copied with Xu Xiaoyan, planning to take this time to properly look after Professor Qi’s health.

The truth is, there are plenty of dietary supplement recipes, but the hard part is finding good ingredients. It was only at Yan Fei’s place that they could get some quality stuff to make those recipes genuinely worthwhile.

Seeing Professor Qi’s old age, Yan Fei didn’t dare serve him Dinosaur Big Bone Soup directly; he needed to find milder supplements to slowly build up health.

While they were talking, Yan Fei’s phone rang again.

Old He burst into laughter, "No wonder you’re reluctant to come back; it’s only been a short while, does your phone still have battery?"

Yan Fei was quite helpless. Without further pleasantries, he promptly answered the call—he had planned to accompany the two professors around this morning, so initially when the calls came, he even informed them. But as the calls continued incessantly, he felt quite helpless...

The key was that the calls looking for him were about all sorts of miscellaneous things, which made him somewhat exasperated.

Just like now, he looked quite frustrated, "People from the western county? What do they want with me? Auntie, can’t you turn down a few calls for me? You relay every call to me and I still have to find a place to charge the phone..."

Xiang Rui was also helpless, "When you weren’t here, they already came asking a few times, and they brought gifts on the first two occasions. Now that you’re finally back, how could I deceive them?"

In the end, Yan Fei had no bet but to have those people brought over.

The two visitors were quite young, with the one in his twenties just about to introduce Yan Fei, when the thirty-something-year-old stepped forward, shaking Yan Fei’s hand, and left him a little stunned with his initial remark, "You must be Boss Yan, right? Pardon my intrusion. I’m Tan Fangping, the Township Chief of Xiliu. You might not be familiar with Xiliu; it’s to the west, not far..."

The thirty-something-year-old township chief, who appeared even younger than Mayor Chen, was very enthusiastic in his demeanor.

Yan Fei was still puzzled about why this man was looking for him, when he heard him continue, "Before I came to Wan City, I already knew that Tanghe County and our county were similar, both impoverished. I heard a while ago that Boss Yan started his business here and now has even invested millions in a cattle station, so I wanted to come and learn from you. I’ve been trying to contact you but you weren’t home, so we made a few more trips, trying our luck."

Luckily, Yan Fei was fairly familiar with the geography of Wan City, otherwise, he really wouldn’t know where this Xiliu Township was.

Even so, he still didn’t know the exact location of their township, other than that it’s tucked in a corner near the mountains. As for saying it’s not far, it’s indeed not far, just a few hundred miles from Sancha River Township—Xiliu Township is part of a county to the west of Wan City, right on the border; any further, and it wouldn’t be within Wan City’s territory anymore.

After talking for a while, Yan Fei somewhat understood his intention, "I’m afraid I might disappoint you, Township Chief Tan. As you can see, we’re in the middle of major construction here, and for the time being, I can’t focus on expanding to other places."

Township Chief Tan Fangping, in reality, was looking to attract some investment. He had been transferred from another place, and after arriving, he discovered that although Xiliu Township’s geographical location was suboptimal, it wasn’t lacking in resources—in fact, people here were growing shiitake mushrooms and fungus.

Though these were small-scale operations, they at least proved that Xiliu Township’s environmental conditions were suitable for growing these two products.
