Chapter 1044: Chapter 546: Sending Money Sending Money_3

"Yeah! What’s up? Why are you suddenly interested in this?" Yan Fei countered.

"Well, it’s not the flowers I care about, it’s the money. Now that I have a truck to transport goods, and you have all these flowers that no one sees, isn’t that a waste? I was thinking, from now on, I’ll buy them too." Chen Yingjun said, his eyes dancing with excitement. "I plan to replace all the fake flowers in the restaurant with real ones. I’ll also start a rose ordering service. Anyone who wants flowers can come to me anytime, and the price will definitely be the most expensive..."

"I knew you’d only get up early if there’s profit to be made!" Yan Fei teased him with a laugh. "Can you actually make money selling flowers? And how much more can you possibly charge, no matter how expensive?"

"That’s none of your business!" Chen Yingjun kept it a secret. "Right now, it’s all the rage. Those nouveau riche heirs come in with their girls to dine, and I’ll offer them an on-the-spot flower delivery service. As long as I keep them happy, isn’t the price up to me to decide? Heh, don’t complain about it being expensive, that’s the whole point. And I can’t afford to have too few flowers. It starts at a minimum of ninety-nine, and only nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine represents true love..."

"Stop, stop, stop—cut it out!" Yan Fei, hearing him get more and more absurd, hurriedly interrupted. "I don’t even know the state of those flowers right now. The flood just washed through. Forget about nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine— even if you can scrape together ninety-nine, consider yourself lucky!"

"What?" Chen Yingjun was stunned. "Brother Fei, I’ve been thinking about this get-rich plan for a while; you can’t let me go back empty-handed!"

Yan Fei said seriously, "Really, if you don’t believe me, I’ll take you to see them right now. The road in the middle isn’t easy to navigate. If you want to go, you’d better put on your slippers. Later on, we might have to wade through water barefoot, you know?"

"Let’s go!" Chen Yingjun was very enthusiastic. "Where are the slippers!"

After a full half-hour, the two finally "trekked" to the so-called ’flower sea’ that Chen Yingjun was talking about.

And believe it or not, a lot of flowers were still there!

Now, those plants that were unclear whether they were roses or China roses had taken root by the river’s edge. With earthworm casts mixed with cow dung as fertilizer, they were growing wildly, some even taller than the willow trees planted at the same time.

The flood had only washed over this area once without soaking it for too long. These plants were remarkably resilient. They still looked vibrant and showed no signs of decline after the flooding.

Chen Yingjun, his hand covered in sludge, tugged at his collar, not minding the new streaks of mud on his white shirt, looking at the flowers with satisfaction: "Brother Fei, I told you, the fortune that’s meant to be made can’t escape!"

Yan Fei gave him a look, finding him even more agreeable now.

Not because the fellow could conceive of ways to make a fortune, but because he seemed capable of enduring hardships— at this moment, Chen Yingjun’s trouser legs were rolled up to his thighs, as they had walked through a low-lying area off the main road, his legs got covered with mud up above his knees, which had already dried.

Those with experience know, once that kind of muddy water dries, it leaves only dirt on your body, hard and dry, which is incredibly uncomfortable.

But this guy didn’t complain at all, just staring at the potentially lucrative roses—or perhaps they should be called rose bushes.

As it turned out, Yan Fei gave him too much credit as, after having seen the roses by the river, Chen Yingjun started to grumble: "Look, Brother Fei, you’re quite a big boss. Couldn’t you build a little bridge over that section past the bridge? Look how muddy I am, lucky I’m tall. If I were any shorter, you’d have to fish me out of the mud, wouldn’t you?"

"That’s not even a river, why on earth would I build a bridge?" Yan Fei didn’t take this comment seriously. "The flowers here look pretty nice as they are. If you take them all, what am I going to look at? You can plant these things elsewhere, right? Can’t you just buy from somewhere else?"

"Sure, others have them, but isn’t our friendship worth considering? I can’t justify not buying from you," Chen Yingjun started joking around again. "Hehe, actually, I think the flowers here bloom bigger, and I can just give them names, like Red Seductress or something, something with a catchier name, and the price will naturally go up, right? If they’re just like the flowers from anywhere else, how can I mark up the price?"

"Profiteer!" Yan Fei labeled him succinctly.

"Hey! Brother Fei, you can’t talk about me like that," Chen Yingjun expressed his dissatisfaction with the label. "I’m catering to consumer psychology. You see flower sellers all over the streets, and any young guy can buy them for a girl, right? But our customers are all rich. If they buy the same kind of flowers, it’d devalue their image. They need to buy the good, expensive stuff. Even if they look similar, the key is to have a selling point, get it? If you don’t cater to consumer psychology in business, how are you going to make the big bucks?"

The lecture began.

"Alright, alright, when I have some, I’ll give them to you. Can you stop rambling? You can’t buy them all at once anyway. With a bit of pruning here and there, they’ll grow even better," Yan Fei said impatiently.

"Don’t rush me, Brother Fei. I’m just discussing it with you. Those greenhouses over there, could you plant some flowers in them too? That way, we could supply year-round. You’ve got such a large place here, and you’ve rented out those fields too. We could expand our flower business. It would be a sin not to make money when we can!"

"Get lost, get lost, get lost! We’ll talk more about it later. Let’s go back," Yan Fei said as well, having planned just to look around since this place was flooded and he hadn’t seen it since. He now took the opportunity to inspect it and plan the rebuilding efforts.

"Fine, let’s go back!" Chen Yingjun grumbled as he followed, walking back. "But seriously, Brother Fei, why don’t you just find someone to handle this, I’ll talk to them, to save you the trouble. I think there’s big potential in the restaurant business! If the situation stays this good, I’m planning to open a few more in the future. Imagine when everything in the restaurant is high-class, adorned with fresh flowers, and with piano music playing, hey, that level of class, people will pay any price to come..."

As he spoke, they neared that low section not far from the bridge, and Chen Yingjun could no longer be concerned with anything else as he waded through and continued to complain. "I’ve never seen a boss as stingy as you. What’s wrong with building a bridge? If it’s not a river, just dig one, and this place could become a little island. Sounds pretty classy, doesn’t it..."
