Chapter 1022: Chapter 539 Auction Black Pearl_3
He was now terrified that the price of the Black Lion was so high that Yan Fei couldn’t come up with enough money. He even began to regret why he had just been moved to take back a million from Yan Fei—if the price of the Tibetan Mastiff really got too inflated later, he estimated he would regret it to death.
Hearing his words, the chubby kid didn’t react much; the fiery redhead scoffed. "Junzi, you really do talk too much. I’m not so petty as to compete with a child. It stays at two million; anyone else bidding? Hurry up, I’ve got other plans tonight!"
As soon as the redhead finished speaking, someone else bid: "Two million one hundred thousand!"
Yan Fei looked over, only to see that it was someone standing beside Young Master Yang, seemingly bidding on his behalf. As for Young Master Yang himself, someone had just changed his teapot, and he was savoring his tea!
Even though Heizi was extremely nervous at the moment, he couldn’t help but mutter at this scene, "Really knows how to put on airs, letting others make his bids. If he’s so capable, he should keep drinking!"
Yan Fei couldn’t help laughing a bit. What more could he drink!
The dust had been flying during the dog fight in the center of the arena earlier. The few tables were positioned close to the front, and though they probably weren’t greatly disturbed, it’d be strange if the tea cups continued standing there without gathering any dust—likely even catching a few stray dog hairs!
"Two hundred twenty thousand!" That same voice, Yan Fei didn’t even need to look, just hearing it told him it was the same voice that first bidded a million against him.
"Two hundred thirty thousand!" Young Master Yang was clearly determined to have the Black Lion. That voice had hardly faded when his man behind shouted out immediately.
Because of the redhead’s involvement, jumping the price to two million directly, so many others who still wanted to try bidding just had to give up, resigning themselves to merely being spectators.
The first chubby kid who had bidded a million was still standing on the table with a chair moved up for him to sit on, not bidding himself but instigating instead. "That voluptuous young lady, everyone else is placing bids, why have you stopped bidding?"
This chubby kid was definitely trying to stir trouble deliberately. From the tone of voice the redhead used to speak to him earlier, the two obviously knew each other, and yet he still purposely called out like that, clearly a lover of chaos.
However, it’s likely that most people present knew the identity of the woman, probably a formidable person too, so the kid’s words only prompted a few chuckles and no further reactions.
The bids between the two had reached nearly three million, confirming Yan Fei’s thoughts; there were just too many crazies nowadays, not enough asylums to hold them. Spending millions on a dog, their heads must have been nibbled by dogs.
The redhead showed excellent composure, not getting too upset at the chubby kid’s words. Taking advantage of a pause in the bidding, she interjected, "I’ll go as high as three hundred fifty thousand, are you guys continuing? If you bid higher, I am leaving!"
Finally, the always-acting-like-an-old-man Young Master Yang opened his mouth. "Sister Ling, you might as well tend to your own business! This place isn’t exactly fit for a lady, next time I’ll invite you for tea, okay?"
To everyone’s surprise, once this rare voice spoke, the redhead wasn’t a bit appreciative, "Forget it, I daren’t drink Young Master Yang’s tea. Since you’re still bidding, then I’ll leave!"
With that, she turned and left without any hesitation.
Her brisk manner truly earned her the title of a heroine among women.
Once the redhead had left, the two sides resumed their relaxed yet steady bidding, like children playing with seeds, seemingly not taking money seriously at all, their bidding voices gradually driving the price up, causing the somewhat noisy spectators to grow quieter and quieter as they watched the competition.
As the price was already over four million and nearing the five million mark, these two bidders showing signs of competition probably held no ordinary statuses. Except for the brief stir caused by the redhead, the others were very quiet, with no one else daring to interrupt. Chen Yingjun, who had been quiet all along, really started to falter.
This was the situation where "fear brings what one fears"; the more he feared, the more that dreaded situation approached.
All because of the chubby kid’s meddling and the redhead throwing in her lot, Chen Yingjun was worried, and his predicament seemed to arrive much earlier than he had imagined, making his face turn somewhat pale by now.
The more crucial the occasion, the more it revealed people’s social status. The always-acting Young Master Yang and the man opposite him now tasting local countryside-made ’82 France Lafite, probably held the highest status in the room.
There were also the previously involved redhead and the chubby kid who till now remained sitting at the table enjoying the show. Without even thinking, one could tell that their families were either rich or noble. Otherwise, with so many people at the scene, seeing their behavior, it was clear they were true to their own characters to an extreme extent—or rather, they were utterly indifferent to others.
Now, the looks Chen Yingjun gathered from people around were indescribably envious. A dog selling for millions was far more impressive than robbery. But these envious glances, landing on Chen Yingjun, only made him feel he was about to be incinerated by these scorching gazes...
Others of course didn’t know that the more he appeared to be in hot water, the closer he was to utter annihilation. Watching Chen Yingjun beginning to sweat on his forehead, Yan Fei finally took action.
He reached into his all-purpose small leather bag—after all, he was a big boss, and carrying that old canvas bag was just too unsightly. Thus, now his bag was styled like a laptop bag, still worn cross-body with a long strap, but made of python skin, which didn’t seem too out of place.
