Chapter 1015: Chapter 537: Send Tibetan Mastiffs, Money, and Cars

Black Gold City had only been elevated to a prefecture-level city a few years ago, but thanks to its rich coal reserves, development was swift.

Still, at the beginning of its urban development, it was the coal industry that kicked things off, so the city’s economic growth wasn’t exactly sensitive to environmental concerns. This city also had a rather long history; now, the high rises of the new city and the mottled buildings of Old City complemented each other, revealing a strange kind of beauty.

However, this had nothing to do with Yan Fei. He hadn’t come alone this time either; he’d brought Heizi along with him. He wanted this guy to get out and about, to gain some experience. Now, under Chen Yingjun’s guidance, the two of them had entered a major local hotel.

As Chen Yingjun led him to their room, he introduced, "This is the best hotel around here. Certainly, it can’t compare with those big places in Hong Kong and Shen City, but Brother Yan, please make do for now. You and Brother Heizi must be tired after the trip, right? I’ll come to find you in a bit, and if there is anything, just call the front desk..."

Yan Fei looked around the room as he casually asked, "You busy with something?"

Chen Yingjun was taken aback for a moment, "Nothing much. Most of the people I invited for the opening are locals, and those from out of town are from nearby places, so no need for receptions, just hellos will do."

"Oh!" replied Yan Fei, then he continued, "Out with it, is there a reason you invited me here? You know my ’Kung Fu’; this little distance won’t tire me out. If you don’t have any urgent matters, you might as well tell me now!"

Chen Yingjun suddenly realized, then almost obsequiously smiled, "Oh, Brother Fei, it’s good news. Rest assured, would I ever trick you after going to such lengths to invite you here?"

"I knew it. You wouldn’t be so eager to help if there wasn’t something up," Yan Fei said with a smirk. "Then spit it out quickly. You’ve already called me Brother Fei, so if you don’t hurry up, I’m afraid I’ll get tangled in a big mess. And if I sense something’s not right, I just might head back..."

"Don’t laugh like that, I’m talking about a real opportunity!" Chen Yingjun, feeling a bit awkward from Yan Fei’s smile, was uncertain whether his uneasiness was genuine or feigned, and as he said this, he glanced at Heizi standing beside them...

Yan Fei laughed before he could speak, "This is my sworn brother, he’s been with me since I started out, and he knows most about my business. Don’t worry, he’s not one to speak carelessly."

Only then did Chen Yingjun continue, "It’s about our Tibetan Mastiff business..."

"Hold on, make it clear, that’s your business!" Yan Fei cut him off before he could finish. "You promised that if those Tibetan Mastiff pups sold for a high price, you’d share some of the profit with me, but I haven’t seen a single cent yet, so it’s got nothing to do with me."

"Alright, alright, you see, you’re a big boss after all; don’t sweat the small stuff. The money is all ready for you, just waiting for you to come take it!" Chen Yingjun laughed along. "About that Tibetan Mastiff business, right! It’s gotten a bit too hot. Initially, if the pups were sired by ’Black Lion,’ the reserve price wasn’t low. But after they went to your place, their prices just skyrocketed..."

Chen Yingjun readily threw in half a million without batting an eye to mix into the dog-tiger fight’s reputation. It was obvious that the price for those unborn Tibetan Mastiff pups or the ones that hadn’t opened their eyes yet must have been no small matter.

Now that he used the word "skyrocketed" to describe the price increase, and considering his guilty expression, Yan Fei knew that the price must have been inflated to an astronomical level by this fellow!

Keep in mind, this guy used to deal in cars in a not-so-legal manner. Although he might not have made too much, he’d handled quite a lot of money. Now, feeling guilty about the price of Tibetan Mastiff pups, Yan Fei couldn’t even imagine how much money those spoiled rich second-generation kids had thrown at them!

Indeed, the fellow then explained his own plan, "My plan is this, after dinner today, I’ve prepared an auction. I’m going to auction off Black Lion and then retire from this line of work to run my little restaurant in peace! Among the people I know, I have various connections with these people. You’re the only one who’s a bit further away. I want you to bid for Black Lion."

"Don’t rush, listen to me!" Chen Yingjun, seeing Yan Fei about to speak and fearing a rejection, hurriedly continued. "I’ve already said I won’t trick you. Do I look like someone who would scam a brother? The auction prices you can just call out freely, I won’t make you pay. It’s just a pretext to give Black Lion to you. As long as you take Black Lion out of Black Gold City, afterwards, if you want to keep it, keep it; don’t want to keep it, slaughter it for meat, that’s fine, too. Just don’t let it stay in Black Gold City."

Yan Fei was beginning to understand; this fellow had exaggerated so much that now he feared he couldn’t conceal the lie any longer and was planning to destroy the evidence—speaking of which, this was somewhat his fault too. People had paid money to travel hundreds of miles just for a photo, and he had to stage a one-mastiff versus two-tigers fight. Those rich kids brought up on honey didn’t understand and actually thought the Tibetan Mastiffs were that formidable.

As a result, all those Tibetan Mastiff pups had been sold at exorbitant prices. Chen Yingjun had taken so much money, and he feared if someone else really brought a tiger to fight his Black Lion...

You see, what these prodigal rich second generations cared about most was their reputation.

If Chen Yingjun’s bluff were to be exposed, those who had paid high prices for Tibetan Mastiff pups would know they’d been fooled, turning it into a huge joke. When their fury came to a head, Yingjun’s fate would be nowhere near good—after all, there were plenty of coal mines around the city, and it wouldn’t be impossible for a ’collapsed’ small mine to be found with the body of the young master Chen underneath.
