Carlotta's Daily Report
Chapter 66: New Tommorow

Chapter 66: New Tommorow

The fact that this extremely risky and difficult step succeeded made Cliff value Gerard’s opinions even more.

Hearing Gerard’s words, Cliff smiled bitterly, "I didn’t expect we’d have to use these garrison troops. If I had known, I wouldn’t have been so hasty in sending them to Thorn Mountain. Now, with only two thousand garrison troops in Wales Castle, it’s obviously impossible to take down the Carnation Knights."

Gerard suggested, "It doesn’t matter. We’ve already disguised ourselves as the original high-ranking officials of this city. We can completely stabilize the Carnation Knights. When the rest of the garrison troops return from Thorn Mountain, we can find an opportunity to use them against the knights."

Cliff knew that Gerard must have a plan, and his eyes lit up as he inquired in detail.

...

Under the tree outside the baron’s mansion.

Carlotta and the others didn’t wait long before Julia returned from her reconnaissance.

"Miss, I’ve figured out the situation."

Julia immediately reported the situation inside the mansion.

When she learned that Cliff and the others hadn’t slept at all, Amelia couldn’t help but be surprised. She didn’t expect the Velmorians to be so serious, discussing how to deal with her the next day even in the middle of the night.

At the same time, she couldn’t help but feel secretly grateful. Fortunately, Carlotta had sensed something was wrong. Otherwise, if they had come as planned tomorrow, they might have been met with a fierce counterattack under the ambush.

Of course, all of this could be changed now.

"How many people do they have in total?" Amelia asked.

"One hundred and twenty-five," Julia replied.

These one hundred and twenty-five people were the entire members of the Velmoria Empire’s surprise attack force. The number was small, but they were all extremely elite. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to completely eliminate Baron Wales and his men and take their place.

"Can we deal with these people?" Amelia asked again.

"If we all take action, it can be done," Julia gave a positive answer.

Amelia understood Julia’s meaning, the guards protecting her would have to take action as well.

Amelia didn’t feel that she needed to be constantly watched and protected, so she immediately said, "Then I’ll leave it to you, Aunt Julia."

Julia nodded.

Even though Cliff and the others were awake, making it difficult for the night attack to have the best effect, the assault had to proceed.

They had already come this far, and there was no reason to retreat. Moreover, Wales Castle had to be taken back.

Then Julia re-entered the baron’s mansion.

"Should we take action?" Carlotta asked.

"Of course. Aunt Julia and the others will deal with the enemy’s strong fighters. The remaining small fry will be left to us," Amelia said, waving her hand, and a rapier appeared in her grasp.

Seeing this, Carlotta immediately pulled the Rose Cross from her necklace.

Camella drew her belt, transforming it into a soft, floppy sword. But as she injected magic into it, the sword became as hard as steel. Without a doubt, this was another alchemical tool, and definitely a high-quality one.

The group immediately climbed over the wall and entered the baron’s mansion.

As soon as they entered, they heard a series of loud explosions from the mansion’s conference hall. The roof of the building was blown off, and debris flew everywhere. Figures clashed and soared into the air.

Amelia’s expression turned serious. "This assassination obviously can’t be done silently. I hope there won’t be any unexpected twists in the process."

Camella couldn’t help but ask, "Then why were Baron Wales and the others silently eliminated before?"

Amelia didn’t know what to say. As a fellow noble, she felt it wasn’t appropriate to speak ill of the deceased Baron Wales.

Carlotta, however, was less reserved. She curled her lips and said, "Aside from being useless, there’s no other explanation. The lower limit of human ability is far beyond your imagination."

Camella was left speechless.

As the battle erupted, the Velmorians in other parts of the mansion heard the commotion and began to emerge. These ordinary soldiers couldn’t participate in the discussions and had mostly been sleeping. Now, hearing the noise, many rushed out, some not even fully dressed, looking quite flustered.

The soldiers’ eyes fell on the conference hall, and with just one glance, they knew they couldn’t join the fight there. Then they turned their heads and saw Carlotta and the others, immediately charging over without hesitation.

"Leave none alive!" Amelia ordered, and the numerous knights resolutely advanced.

The female knight who used Bard Magic continuously sang, casting various halos at the feet of the group, providing them with numerous enhancements.

Carlotta felt a surge in her body, sensing increased strength, lightness, and many other benefits appearing on her, but she couldn’t fully grasp them at the moment.

As Velmorians charged at her, Carlotta stopped overthinking, narrowed her eyes, and swung her Rose Cross, charging forward.

The Fourth Movement of The Twelve Echoes of Elven Steel: Elven Dance!

As Carlotta swung her sword, she seemed to be dancing lightly, spinning into the crowd. The Velmorians around her didn’t hesitate to swing their swords at her, but their weapons were all blocked.

Her Rose Cross seemed to have a sticky quality, adhering to one sword and then turning in a circle, pulling the weapons of the surrounding Velmorians along, causing them to stumble.

After a spin, Carlotta swept her Rose Cross, taking advantage of the Velmorians’ unsteady movements to thrust her sword into one person’s chest. She quickly withdrew her sword and stabbed the next person.

Amelia held her sword just in case. Compared to the elven knight path, she was more adept at memory magic. As her magic activated, a Rose Cross appeared above her head, then, without being controlled by anyone, charged into the crowd.

During the fight, Carlotta glanced over, initially stunned, then couldn’t help but show a subtle expression.

Amelia had replicated her combat techniques from memory.

In this battle, the Carnation Knights had fewer numbers, but they quickly gained the upper hand because their individual combat strength was higher. Since Amelia had selected a small number of knights to come, she must have chosen the strongest among them.

Carlotta felt that each of these people was at a higher level than herself.

Of course, she wasn’t weak either. At the fifth tier Apprentice, with a deep understanding of elven knight path and the enhancements from Bard Magic, the strength she displayed was no less than that of the elite knights, even surpassing many of them!

A Velmorian at the level of a seventh-tier apprentice, probably a squadron leader, saw Carlotta killing continuously and charged at her. But after a short clash, Carlotta swiftly killed the Velmorian with a single sword strike..

The Bard Magic path is truly a great path.

Carlotta couldn’t help but think this. With the enhancement of this magic path, her combat power had been fully boosted, and she felt that even opponents at the seventh-level apprentice stage were no match for her.

In a short time, the hundred or so Velmorians in front of her were either dead or captured, unable to mount any effective counterattack.

Even those Velmorians who were fighting with Julia and the other guards were captured after a brief skirmish.

This was an extremely smooth assault. Seeing that everything was under control, Amelia finally felt relieved.

Watching Julia return, Amelia instructed, "Aunt Julia, you and the others should interrogate these captured individuals first."

Julia nodded.

As for Amelia, after signaling to the knights around her, she turned and walked out of the mansion.

Although the battle that erupted in the baron’s mansion ended quickly, the commotion it created was still significant. In the quiet of the deep night, it was enough to spread throughout Star River Bay, undoubtedly disturbing many people.

So Amelia had to go and reassure the people of Star River Bay.

As the group walked out of the baron’s mansion, Amelia’s sweeping glance revealed many people watching from both the shadows and the open, though none dared to come forward to inquire about the situation.

The chaos that had occurred in the baron’s mansion, whatever it was, clearly wasn’t something to get involved in casually.

"Who has made an amplification card?" Amelia asked in a low voice.

Camella glanced at Carlotta, and seeing that Carlotta didn’t have one, she took out a card.

An amplification card, as the name suggests, can amplify and project a person’s voice.

After inputting her magical power into the amplification card, Camella handed it to Amelia, who held it in front of her and began to speak.

"Everyone, I am Amelia Fenwick from the Fenwick family of the Wendell Empire, here by the Emperor’s command to support the Duchy of Francis. At Silverleaf Castle, the Duke had arranged for me to come to Wales Castle for support. But unfortunately, by the time I arrived, Baron Wales had already passed away..."

She had to make things clear.

With Baron Wales and other high-ranking officials dead, it meant that Wales Castle had lost its administrative personnel. In such a situation, she had to take over and maintain the order of Wales Castle.

Although Wales Castle was considered relatively safe due to its geographical location, it was still within the Francis front line. Necessary precautions had to be taken. Anyone who thought they could rest easy had only to look at the lesson of Baron Wales.

Amelia spoke at a steady pace, each sentence meaningful and her reasoning clear, making her intentions understood.

As she explained the situation one by one, the residents near the baron’s mansion who heard the news were greatly shocked. They had never imagined such a terrible event could happen in Wales Castle.

That baron they somewhat disliked had already left this world?

Not long after, the commander of the garrison, a middle-aged man named Ralph Kent, led a group of garrison soldiers over.

"Is what you’re saying true? Do you have the Duke’s appointment document?" Ralph asked cautiously, looking at Amelia.

"Yes."

Amelia glanced at Ralph and had the knights bring her document over to show him. After just a glance, Ralph confirmed the document’s authenticity, which made him take a deep breath and feel a chill on his neck.

The local garrison was originally under the direct control of Baron Wales, and as the garrison commander, his power was limited, making him only a mid-level figure, which was why he hadn’t been targeted by the Velmorians.

These past few days, he had been puzzled by the actions of the higher-ups. Not only did they often stay together, but they also issued strange orders, like having the garrison dig trenches in the Thorn Mountains, claiming it was to defend against the possible arrival of the Velmorians... an utterly unnecessary action.

Only now did Ralph understand what had been happening, and for a moment, his hands and feet felt cold.

"Mr. Ralph Kent," Amelia spoke up, "you are more familiar with the situation in Wales Castle. Could you help me gather all the influential and notable people here? You should know who to call."

Ralph understood that such a significant event indeed needed to be communicated to everyone in Wales Castle... although the remaining individuals were mostly mid-level figures.

"I understand, I’ll go and gather them now."

Ralph quickly arranged for people to be summoned.

Given the gravity of the situation, anyone who heard of Baron Wales’s death was jolted into action, hurrying over as quickly as possible.

During this process, the interrogation of Clive and the others concluded. Facing these daring Velmorians, there wasn’t much information to be gleaned, but they did find out the location of the real Baron Wales’s body and others.

When the group dug out the bodies of the former high-ranking officials of Wales Castle in the mansion’s backyard, the many mid-level figures who had arrived fell silent, unable to believe the outcome, yet forced to accept it.

The sky of Wales Castle had changed.

"Everyone, I know you’re greatly impacted, but no matter what, since things have come to this, we must handle the aftermath properly. Wales Castle will be temporarily taken over by me, Amelia Fenwick. Does anyone have any objections?"

Amelia looked at everyone as she asked.

No one objected. Judging from the Duke’s appointment, Amelia was the highest authority present. Her taking over Wales Castle was beyond reproach.

Seeing this, Amelia began to issue commands.

Her first order was for Ralph to send people to retrieve the garrison from the Thorn Mountains.

These garrison troops were crucial. The facts had proven that Wales Castle was not as safe as imagined, and the more forces they controlled, the better.

Next, Amelia had the news of the changes in Wales Castle announced to the public. Although this would cause some chaos among the citizens, she also needed them to understand that Wales Castle could only heed her commands now, which would facilitate future movements and arrangements.

Finally, she wrote a letter to be taken to Silverleaf Castle, informing the Duke of Francis about what had happened here.

By the time Amelia had carried out all these arrangements, the sky had finally brightened, and the first rays of morning light fell upon Wales Castle.

Accompanied by the sound of many iron hooves, the Carnation Knights and the Swan Knights finally arrived outside Wales Castle.

Amelia’s forces had arrived.

Wales Castle was about to welcome a new tomorrow.
