Chapter 621: Chapter 0623: Take Good Care of My Granddaughter [Part 2]

Chu Feng spoke with utmost seriousness, but the more serious he became, the more uneasy and terrified the kidnapper felt. This wasn’t how the plot should be going—how could he suddenly not feel like the one orchestrating the kidnapping? Had he gotten the wrong script, or had they intruded, entering his narrative?

"Won’t ask? Then give the person back to me and let us go. My part of the story here ends with a happy reunion," said Chu Feng, reaching out his hand.

"Kid, stop fussing around. Let me go now, and I assure you of his safety. Otherwise, today I’ll make him join the dead with me." It wasn’t until he heard Chu Feng’s words that he remembered his primary role.

Chu Feng shook his head and replied, "You’ve already said that before. I am aware. Do you have anything new to tell me?"

The kidnapper gritted his teeth in rage; this Chu Feng was too despicable, never playing by the rules. Things were not supposed to be this way; why did he feel so confused?

"Swoosh!"

The knife in his hand got even closer to Elder Zhuang, the sharp blade even grazing the fine hairs on his neck.

Just a little bit more, and the sharp edge of the knife in his hand would slit Elder Zhuang’s throat.

In such a tense situation, things finally got back on track. It also disrupted Chu Feng’s plan to distract him.

"Grandfather!" Even though Zhuang Xinyan was a Goddess, she couldn’t help but cry out. After all, he was the one who had raised her, the closest family she had. Zhuang Xinyan’s parents were never around. In this world, Elder Zhuang was her only family.

So, in Xinyan’s eyes, even if she had to die, she wanted her grandfather to live.

"Kid, you’d better not pull any tricks. If I want his life, all it takes is a flick of my wrist," the kidnapper warned.

Chu Feng responded, "You should know that with my strength, if I wanted to kill you, you wouldn’t get the chance to make your move."

The kidnapper nodded in agreement and said, "Yes. With your strength, you certainly could do that. But you can kill me, and yet the bizarre poison inside him will remain unsolved. In the end, he will still die."

Zhuang Xinyan spoke with an icy tone, "If a single hair falls from my grandfather’s head, I won’t spare you, your family, nor anyone behind you."

The kidnapper looked at Zhuang Xinyan, his voice hoarse and his laughter eerie like that of a night owl, "Do you think I’d be afraid? Do you think threats like that work on me? Do you think I have any family left that you can threaten?"

Xinyan clenched her fists tightly, and her presence almost seemed to freeze the air around her.

"No matter who is behind you, I won’t let them get away with this. I swear!" Xinyan declared, each word deliberate and forceful.

Hearing her words, Elder Zhuang shouted in approval, "Good! That’s my granddaughter of the Zhuang Family."

After a moment’s pause, Elder Zhuang looked towards Chu Feng, his gaze steady and without a hint of panic or fear.

"Chu Feng, I, an old man, am asking you for a favor today, thick-faced as I may be. Can you promise me?"

Chu Feng nodded earnestly, "Elder Zhuang, whatever it is, I promise you."

Chu Feng owed a debt of gratitude to Elder Zhuang. He couldn’t repay kindness with ingratitude, much less forget the favor he owed.

Elder Zhuang nodded in relief and said, "Good, Chu Feng, I didn’t misjudge you. I want you to take care of my granddaughter for me. Can you do that?"

Chu Feng nodded emphatically, "I assure you, as long as I am alive, she will certainly be alive."

Elder Zhuang laughed heartily with open arms, saying, "In that case, I can die in peace."

After finishing his words, Elder Zhuang turned to look at the kidnapper and said, "You don’t dare kill me, do you? Then I will kill myself. I have lived long enough and I won’t let myself become a burden to my grandchildren."

Having said that, Elder Zhuang lunged towards the sharp blade.

The blade was so sharp that even a slight touch, not to mention a solid impact, would have been enough to slash through Elder Zhuang’s throat.

"Grandfather!" Zhuang Xinyan had not expected her grandfather to attempt suicide, and immediately she screamed hoarsely.

The kidnapper clearly hadn’t anticipated this, but he couldn’t watch Elder Zhuang die. If Elder Zhuang died, the kidnapper’s life would be worse than death. This wasn’t what he wanted.

At the critical moment, he slackened the grip on his blade slightly, shifting its position a few centimeters downward.

But as soon as he moved, he felt something was wrong. However, by the time he realized it, it was too late.

A hand seized his acupoint, while another hand clasped his throat. With a gentle application of force, he heard the sound of his own throat being crushed.

"Liar..."

He wanted to say ’liar’, but he could no longer make a sound. His voice was trapped in his throat; he couldn’t utter even a whisper.

"Bang!"

His body slumped to the ground, and as his body leaned forward, losing balance, Elder Zhuang was caught by Chu Feng.

"Elder Zhuang, are you alright?" Chu Feng asked, supporting Elder Zhuang with concern.

Elder Zhuang smiled and replied, "Do I look like I’m in trouble? I’m perfectly fine now. I owe you my life."

In such circumstances, only someone as experienced with hardships as Elder Zhuang could still muster a smile.

"Grandfather, why did you take such a risk!" Zhuang Xinyan said angrily.

Elder Zhuang looked at Zhuang Xinyan with indulgent eyes and said, "Silly child, aren’t I fine? And I wasn’t taking a risk. If Chu Feng could save me, it would be my good fortune. If he couldn’t, then it would have been my fate. If I had died, you would no longer have to worry."

"Grandfather!" Zhuang Xinyan was so moved by these words that she became overwhelmed with emotion.

"Old man, don’t you think... If I’d been lying to your granddaughter, could she still throw herself into my arms? Do you think deceiving your own granddaughter is fun?" Chu Feng bluntly exposed Elder Zhuang’s pretense.

"You rascal, what have I pretended to be?" Elder Zhuang asked.

Chu Feng replied, "Old man, have you ever seen someone who truly seeks death talking so much to the kidnapper behind him? Weren’t you signaling to him that I was preparing to kill myself? What was that if not a hint? Would he have been prepared in advance without your signal?"

Hearing Chu Feng’s words, Elder Zhuang also burst into laughter and said, "Nothing gets past you, you rascal. You have a sharp eye but your methods are not very upright. It has been a while since Xinyan cried like this in front of me; I haven’t had the chance to comfort her."

After hearing Elder Zhuang’s words, Chu Feng’s expression turned strange and he said, "Old man, you are quite mischievous. Does your family know about this?"
