Chapter 557: Chapter 559 Lack of Quality [Part 2]

"What did you say!" Black Bear was known for his explosive temper, a small spark setting him off.

"Calm down," Chu Feng blocked Black Bear, trying to calm him.

The leader of Group Five said, "Right, listen to your Vice Captain. Don’t get upset. If you behave well, big Black Bear, I might reluctantly absorb you into our Group Five as a meat shield."

Chu Feng once again stopped Black Bear, speaking sternly, "How can you be so undisciplined? He lacks manners. Why lower yourself to his level—a man without any? The more you engage with him, the more he loses face. Insulting someone is like gifting a present; if I give you a present and you don’t accept it, it’s still mine. If he insults and you ignore him, he’s actually insulting himself. Do you understand? If he enjoys insulting himself, why pick up his insults? Aren’t you being undisciplined?"

Black Bear, stifling laughter, stood at attention, "Yes, Vice Captain, I was wrong. I won’t pick up insults anymore."

Chu Feng nodded, "That’s better."

After speaking, Chu Feng turned around to look at the grim-faced leader of Group Five and said, "Comrade Captain, since he lacked manners, I’ve already taught him a lesson. Rest assured, from now on, our Group Seven won’t pick up insults anymore. Comrade Captain, we’re returning your ’gift’ to you."

Upon hearing Chu Feng’s words, everyone from Group Seven finally burst out laughing.

The leader of Group Five’s face turned so dark, it was almost like ash at the bottom of a pot.

Yet, Chu Feng’s words left him unable to retaliate, for Chu Feng had not used a single swear word from start to finish.

"Fine! See you at the ring," said the leader of Group Five.

Chu Feng replied, "We’ll definitely meet there. I’m just not sure if I’ll see you when I’m up there."

"You..."

When it came to wordplay, ten leaders of Group Five combined wouldn’t match Chu Feng.

"I hope your fists are as sharp as your words. I also hope that when I’m standing up there, I’ll still see you," said a young man around twenty-seven or twenty-eight from behind the leader of Group Five, his gaze filled with killing aura as he looked at Chu Feng.

This was not a good sign!

That was Chu Feng’s first reaction; naturally, his second was that someone was asking for a beating.

The opponent was only at the Xuan Level Late Stage. Although reaching such a level at his age was indeed impressive, he was still just a bit short of Chu Feng’s mark.

Chu Feng watched for a while and then said, "I’ll be waiting for you on the ring, then grab you by the neck, hold onto your training clothes, step by step walk to the edge of the ring, and throw you off."

Chu Feng described it in detail, as if it were already a done deal.

Hearing Chu Feng’s words, everyone from Group Five laughed and said, "Wishful thinking. When the time comes, we’ll see you get your butt kicked."

Chu Feng looked at the leader of Group Five and said, "If you’re still on stage when I go up, I’ll grant your wish. I just hope that Dragon Soul’s medical standards can mend even a shattered butt."

"Kid, be arrogant for now, you’ll cry later."

The match hadn’t started yet, but tensions were already running high, stirring up everyone’s emotions.

This edition was truly different from the past; with the elimination system in place, if Group Seven lost one more time, they’d be sent packing to do logistical tasks.

So, Group Seven could not afford to lose, but many were hoping to see Group Seven fail. An operational team backed by a first-level tributor was always seen as a threat.

Where there are people, there is Jinghu World, even though they all served the nation. At the same time, they served themselves.

The more missions they received, the more honor they gained, and the more resources they accumulated.

After all, some came here from their prestigious families just for Dragon Soul’s resources.

The martial arts competition began with a brief introduction by a Vice General Captain of Dragon Soul before it officially commenced.

Everyone was a soldier, without much fuss or grandeur.

The rules of the competition were simple; it was a round-robin tournament.

The fighting order had been arranged before Chu Feng’s arrival, not by drawing lots but based on the previous standard activities like shooting, bomb disassembly, etc.

Having ranked first in these regular events, Group Seven had the privilege of choosing their opponents first, then proceeding based on elimination.

"Can we change our opponent now?" Chu Feng asked after viewing the competition format.

Huang Lan replied, "Of course, as long as the match hasn’t started yet, we have the right to change our opponent once."

Chu Feng said, "Then let’s change it."

"Change to which group?"

Chu Feng replied, "Let’s go with Group Five. There’s no fun in picking on the weak."

Upon hearing this, Black Bear and the others were shocked, "Vice Captain, we shouldn’t take such a risk. If we’re eliminated by Group Five, then we really won’t have another chance. Against Group Nine, we still have a chance to win."

Chu Feng said, "Don’t you have any spirit left? Just focus on fighting. Just like I’ve told you, as long as you’re careful, there won’t be any problems. Regardless of whether you win or lose, I’ll cover for the rest."

Huang Lan said, "Listen to the Vice Captain, and do as he directs. Black Bear, go change the challenge group."

"Fine!" Black Bear reluctantly agreed, then went to the referee team to request the change in group.

When the big screen showed that Group Seven had changed from Group Nine to Group Five, the entire venue erupted. Group Seven was the underdog, and Group Five was a favorite for the championship.

Group Seven wanting to maintain their rank ideally meant facing Group Nine, but now suddenly switching to Group Five was akin to seeking their own demise.

"What’s gotten into Group Seven, are they asking for trouble?"

"Does Group Seven no longer want to avoid relegation, or have they already given up?"

"I think Group Seven’s brain must be waterlogged, aiming for a glorious last stand to make themselves look better in defeat."

...

Skeptical voices rose and fell, and even members of Group Seven started doubting themselves.

"What are you afraid of? I’ve told you, I’ll cover for you. How about you bet a year’s salary with me?" Chu Feng said lightly.

Black Bear responded, "If we win, it’s not just a year, but ten years’ salary wouldn’t be an issue."

Chu Feng, draping an arm around Black Bear’s shoulder, said, "That’s your own words. Don’t blame me for not being sentimental when the time comes. The rest of you feel the same, right?"

The remaining members nodded listlessly.

Huang Lan didn’t reveal anything, sometimes a surprise coming unexpectedly is more thrilling.
