Chapter 506: Chapter 0508: The Wolf Disguised as a Dog
Chu Feng heard Zhuang Xinyan’s words and said, "Wait for me to finish lunch, then I’ll come over to your place, let them wait for a while."
Now that Chu Feng completely had the upper hand, he naturally had the capital to make them wait.
"Why are all of you looking at me like that? I said I would go out after lunch. It’s up to you whether you want to eat for one hour or two," said Chu Feng.
Very cautiously, Fan Xiaoxiao said, "Then, boss, can you play video games with me after lunch? I’ve been bored these past two days and really like playing Contra, but I can’t even get past the first level; it’s so boring."
Chu Feng looked at the four girls staring at him with big eyes and said, "Sure. You can even go on a trip abroad and come back if you want."
"Oh yeah! I knew you cared about me the most, boss," exclaimed Fan Xiaoxiao excitedly.
After lunch, Chu Feng stayed and played Contra with Fan Xiaoxiao twice through to make sure she could handle the first three stages on her own. Then he leisurely headed to the Zhuang Family’s place.
By the time Chu Feng reached the Zhuang Family’s place, it was already three in the afternoon.
Chu Feng saw Zhuang Xinyan, who told him that Bai Jiahang had already left.
Chu Feng wasn’t surprised by this. As Bai Jiahang represented the Bai Family, it would be strange for him to wait for him.
"Jin Yu is still in the living room. He’s been here since this morning, only saying he wanted to see you. After that, he hasn’t spoken a word, taken a sip of water, or even moved from his spot. He would probably end up staying at my place if you didn’t come today," Zhuang Xinyan said.
Chu Feng asked, "How did his father die?"
Zhuang Xinyan replied, "According to the intelligence we have now, it was suicide, a suicide out of guilt, and he died in the detention center. But the surveillance at the detention center was broken, and his father’s body has already been cremated, so no one knows if it was really suicide. However, a suicide note was left, so it’s presumed to be suicide."
Chu Feng looked at Zhuang Xinyan and said, "Do you believe that?"
Zhuang Xinyan shook her head and said, "I don’t believe it."
Chu Feng said, "I don’t believe it either."
Zhuang Xinyan asked, "Do you want to see him then?"
Chu Feng asked, "If I don’t see him, would you let him stay at your place overnight?"
Zhuang Xinyan shook her head and said, "I’d rather keep you over than him."
Chu Feng said, "Alright then, I’ll just have to trouble you to let me stay over tonight."
Zhuang Xinyan said, "I’ll tell Rong Rong to come over and keep me company."
Chu Feng rolled his eyes and said, "You women love to trick people, forget I said anything. I’ll go see Jin Yu."
Chu Feng and Zhuang Xinyan walked into the living room. Jin Yu seemed lost in thought, so he didn’t notice Chu Feng and Zhuang Xinyan coming in.
"You wanted to see me?" Chu Feng sat down opposite Jin Yu and said.
Jin Yu, upon suddenly hearing Chu Feng speak, wasn’t startled but just looked up at him.
This kind of situation generally only illustrates two issues. First, Jin Yu was an expert. He had already discovered Chu Feng and Zhuang Xinyan entering. Second, Jin Yu’s heart was already dead, he felt neither joy nor sorrow towards the outside world, just like a monk entering seclusion.
However, the first point obviously wasn’t possible, and as for the second point, it seemed rather unlikely to Chu Feng as well.
Jin Yu handed a cardboard box sitting next to him to Chu Feng and said, "This is all the research data on the Holy Stele that our Jin Family has gathered over the years. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, the real core isn’t in the hands of our Jin Family."
Chu Feng asked, "Do you know whose hands it’s in?"
Anger and a murderous look flashed in Jin Yu’s eyes as he replied, "Only my father knew, but he has already died."
Chu Feng said, "I feel truly sorry about your father’s situation."
Jin Yu was not as angry as Chu Feng had expected; he was quite calm.
"Young Master Chu, I hope to cooperate with you. I wish to become an agent for the Holy Stele, even if it’s just a secondary agent," Jin Yu said earnestly.
"Why?"
"Because we have the same enemy. They killed your brother and also my father," Jin Yu said through clenched teeth.
Chu Feng said, "You’re betraying everything your father arranged for you. Setting aside the enemy’s perspective, I really admire your father. Perhaps from the beginning, your father had already planned all this. He used his death to dissolve my hatred for the Jin Family. He used his death to free you from a destiny of being controlled by others. I think he wouldn’t want you to get involved in this affair again; he probably wanted you to start over with the Jin Family."
Chu Feng’s words weren’t mere flattery or irony. He spoke sincerely, truly appreciating Jin Yu’s father for his greatness when viewed without prejudices.
He used his death to end it all. He used his death to earn Chu Feng’s forgiveness for the Jin Family’s hatred. After all, when one dies, everything ends with it—a life for a life, especially since the Jin Family wasn’t the mastermind.
Moreover, perhaps from the very beginning, Jin Yu’s father had prepared for the worst. Maybe not dying by Chu Feng’s hands, but possibly by someone else’s. As for the affairs of the Jin Family being controlled, he hadn’t revealed much to Jin Yu. The result was that with his death, the fate of the Jin Family being controlled also came to an end.
Perhaps the Jin Family would decline, but that was surely better than being controlled for a lifetime.
So, from any perspective, Jin Yu’s father was a respectable elder.
Of course, since he was Chu Feng’s enemy, that respect was a different matter.
Tears welled up in Jin Yu’s eyes as he said, "Young Master Chu, I understand my father’s intentions. But a father’s vengeance is as deep as the heavens; I cannot pretend to be ignorant."
Chu Feng crossed his legs and shifted to a more comfortable position, saying, "I have already promised Zhuang Xinyan the agency rights, you should ask her first if she agrees."
Zhuang Xinyan said, "I have no objections. I want the primary agency and I don’t mind having a secondary agent and a mature market. Besides, having someone help share the potential attacks from unknown forces is something I’m quite pleased to see."
Chu Feng said, "She has no objections, but why should I help you? Give me a reason to help you."
Jin Yu said word by word, "Young Master Chu, as long as you help me, I am willing to be a dog by your side. Whoever you tell me to bite, I will bite."
Chu Feng looked at Jin Yu and asked, "Have you forgotten what your father told you?"
Jin Yu replied, "I haven’t, I have never bowed to my enemies. I will crush my enemies!"
When Jin Yu said this, his eyes really shone with a fierce glow like that of a wolf. Clearly, his father’s death had completely ignited Jin Yu’s rage. From today, he was no longer a high and mighty gentleman, he was a dog—no, a wolf in dog’s clothing, starved for revenge. He was waiting, waiting for his enemies to appear, so he could pounce and fiercely bite them to death.
