Chapter 490: Chapter 0492 Mr. Liu

Chu Feng said, "I’m not blaming you, take my elder brother to rest first."

After Brother Dao left with Gu Zhen, Chu Feng asked, "What happened here?"

Looking ashamed, Brother Dao said, "It was all due to our negligence, we failed to protect Brother Liang."

Chu Feng replied, "It’s too late to talk about that now, just tell me what happened."

Then, Brother Dao explained the entire situation to Chu Feng in detail.

It turned out that because of Chu Feng’s arrival yesterday, Dong Wanliang had postponed his meeting with Mr. Liu of Songjiang.

Today, Dong Wanliang specifically paid a visit to apologize and express his sincerity.

Mr. Liu of Songjiang holds a status in Songjiang akin to what Dong Wanliang holds in East River. Of course, being in the provincial capital, Mr. Liu actually controls more territory and people than Dong Wanliang does.

This time, his visit to Dong Wanliang was to propose a collaboration to completely monopolize the underworld of East River.

Dong Wanliang, still mindful of Chu Feng’s words, flatly refused.

However, Mr. Liu then proposed to have his own people infiltrate the organization.

Allowing others a foothold in one’s own domain is out of the question for Dong Wanliang, and he absolutely could not agree to such a proposal.

In fact, at that point, the matter should have ended there. But just as Dong Wanliang was leaving, he was shot at. The gunman opened fire at close range, firing three shots.

If Dong Wanliang hadn’t been alert and ducked at the first shot, he would probably have been reporting to another world by now.

After listening to Brother Dao, Chu Feng felt that Dong Wanliang was indeed commendable. At least he remembered his words very well and was worth supporting.

"What’s the background of this Mr. Liu?" Chu Feng asked.

"He is the underground Emperor of Songjiang with no legitimate businesses as cover. He heads the largest smuggling group in Songjiang Province. He is so arrogant because he has the Bai Family backing him," Brother Dao explained.

"The Bai family." Chu Feng furrowed his brows slightly upon hearing Brother Dao’s words.

If this matter involved the Bai Family, then it was not going to be simple.

Dong Wanliang was his own man, which might be hard for outsiders to know. But for the Bai Family, discovering it wouldn’t be too difficult.

After all, Dong Wanliang had publicly sided with him on multiple occasions, making this not hard to deduce.

"Is this some sort of warning to me, killing the chicken to scare the monkey?" Chu Feng muttered.

"Young Master Chu, I’m not smart, but I can see that Mr. Liu’s visit this time was indeed aimed at you," Brother Dao said.

Chu Feng asked, "Is there anything else?"

Brother Dao replied, "Mr. Liu told Brother Liang that if they teamed up, they could completely take over your Fengjing Group. Before Brother Liang left, he specifically instructed me not to tell you, Young Master Chu. He didn’t want you to think we were deliberately inciting discord."

After a pause, Brother Dao knelt on one knee and said, "But Young Master Chu, only you can help avenge Brother Liang. I hope you can help me avenge him. I am willing to pay any price."

"Alright, you may rise, I won’t ignore this matter. They have already made their move, and I can’t just sit back without responding. Take me to meet this Mr. Liu," Chu Feng said.

Upon hearing Chu Feng’s words, Brother Dao immediately exclaimed with excitement, "Young Master Chu, I’ll gather our men right now and go with you to face that Mr. Liu head-on. Not just for Brother Liang, but to also avenge those two brothers who covered for me."

Chu Feng said, "There’s no need for too many people; just you alone is enough. We aren’t going there to fight; why make such a big scene? Everyone is already watching East River. Stirring up too much at this time is simply courting death."

"Yes, Young Master Chu. It was my lack of consideration!" Brother Dao admitted his mistake, bowing his head.

Chu Feng said, "Alright, let’s go. They’ve brought the fight right to my doorstep, if I don’t give them a bone to chew on, I’d appear far too stingy."

Brother Dao drove, taking Chu Feng directly out of the city to a villa on the outskirts.

"What exactly is this Mr. Liu’s full name?" Chu Feng asked.

Brother Dao replied, "Young Master Chu, his surname is Liu and he is addressed as Mr."

Chu Feng was taken aback by Brother Dao’s response then chuckled, "That’s quite a peculiar name but from his name alone, you can tell he’s no good bird."

Brother Dao said, "Are you sure we shouldn’t call for backup? Although Mr. Liu only brought five or six people, they are all experts, and I’m not sure if he has other hidden forces."

Chu Feng said, "No need. Just the two of us is enough."

After Brother Dao announced their arrival, they were invited into the villa.

There were only six people inside the villa: a middle-aged man sat on the sofa, and the other five stood respectfully behind him.

The aura of these five was very serene; clearly, all five were practitioners. Especially the man in the center, his temples protruded slightly, a clear sign of a master of Inner Strength from the Inner Family.

Upon entering the villa, Mr. Liu clearly had no intention of inviting Chu Feng to sit, and Chu Feng did not wait to be invited; he simply took a seat directly opposite Mr. Liu.

Mr. Liu was well-preserved, though he was already over fifty, he appeared only in his thirties.

He was nothing like the underworld bosses portrayed in movies and TV shows. Moreover, his scholarly aura was even more intense than Dong Wanliang’s. He also wore traditional round-toed cloth shoes.

"Mr. Chu comes uninvited, takes a seat without invitation; what does this mean?" Mr. Liu asked politely.

Chu Feng replied, "No particular reason, Dong Wanliang was shot, and I came to inquire about the situation to see if there were any eyewitnesses here."

Mr. Liu said, "I too am very sorry about what happened to Dong Wanliang. But, Mr. Chu, may I ask, are you a policeman?"

Chu Feng shook his head and said, "I am not a policeman, but I hope you don’t force me to turn into a bad person. You know, I have quite the potential to be worse than you if I turn bad."

Mr. Liu’s eyes tightened noticeably upon hearing Chu Feng’s words.

"Mr. Chu, can I take your words as a threat? I am a law-abiding citizen; if you speak like this, I can only call the police for protection," Mr. Liu said.

Chu Feng leaned back and said, "Feel free to call the police; I believe they would be very interested in the things in your basement."

Mr. Liu’s eyes tightened once again. He had no idea how Chu Feng knew about his basement, let alone the things stored there.
