Chapter 472: Chapter 474: I Only Have One Request
Xingzi, unnerved by Chu Feng’s gaze, suppressed the fear in her heart and spoke, "The dead are gone, and Mr. Chuandao has made his utmost sincere compensation. He has also received the punishment he deserved; I hope Mr. Chu might let him go."
In fact, Chu Feng had expected Xingzi to come, just not so quickly.
As for the president of Eastern Commerce who had caused the death of his worker, Chu Feng certainly wouldn’t let him off with just some money.
Chu Feng had already tampered with him, in ways that wouldn’t kill him, but would make his life a living hell.
He would be unable to sleep every day, regardless of whether he took sleeping pills or any method he tried, he couldn’t fall asleep.
Sleep is the most important thing for a person. If one can’t sleep for three days in a row, their mental state will be on the verge of collapse. Seven days without sleep, and one’s mind will completely break down.
Now, it was exactly three days, and Chuandao’s mental state was already on the brink of collapse. Chu Feng had thought it would take at least seven days for Xingzi to come, but she’d appeared after only three.
"Mr. Chu, are you listening to me?" Xingzi waited a while without getting a response, and asked again.
Chu Feng said, "I heard you, I’m just thinking. If I killed you, and then told your family that the dead are gone, what would your family’s emotions be like?"
Chu Feng’s words made Xingzi’s bodyguard, who followed her, immediately tense up.
Chu Feng said, "Do you think your gun is faster, or that I strike quicker. I hate it when people draw knives or guns in my home."
"Mr. Chu, this matter has nothing to do with the young lady; she’s just here to plead. I hope Mr. Chu can restrain himself," Xingzi’s bodyguard, taking his hand from inside his clothes rather dramatically, said seriously.
Chu Feng laughed disdainfully and said, "Do you think I’m a fool, or are you the fool? You say this has nothing to do with her. If not for your Elite Society stepping in, would a president personally go looking for a mere thug? You can lie, but please, find a lie that holds water, alright? Otherwise, I’ll take it as an insult to my intelligence — and insulting my intelligence angers me more than a gun pointed at me."
Xingzi said, "Mr. Chu, I think you might be misunderstanding. This matter truly has nothing to do with me; it is entirely between Mr. Chuandao and your company."
Chu Feng said, "Still insulting my intelligence, is that it? If you continue to insult my intelligence, then I see no need for us to continue our conversation. Go back and have Chuandao prepare for his end, or he can go home and say his last goodbyes to his family, sincerely repent for his inner wrongdoings."
"As far as I’m concerned, this is the greatest mercy I can offer him. Because my worker didn’t even have the chance to say a final farewell to his family. He couldn’t even survive this year’s Spring Festival."
Chu Feng spoke utterly seriously, without a hint of jest or frivolity.
This cast a grave expression on Xingzi’s face.
Chuandao was important to Elite Society, and not everything in Eastern was within Elite Society’s control.
To groom a confidant was extremely demanding; to cultivate one in a high position of power was even more difficult.
Moreover, Chuandao was not only the president of Eastern Commerce in East River but also a member of the Chuandao Family in Eastern, which held a high status among the thirty-six islands of Eastern.
The relationship between the Chuandao Family and Elite Society had always been ambiguous. The reason President Chuandao was so obedient to them was because he lusted after her body, Xingzi’s.
But if he died, then the Chuandao Family might no longer even have an ambiguous stance with Elite Society. Ultimately, the greatest loss would be to Elite Society.
If Xingzi had known it would end like this, she never would have allowed President Chuandao to get personally involved.
Her original plan was to use this incident to draw the Chuandao Family in, to stand with Elite Society. But now the situation had turned into this.
"Mr. Chu, I sincerely hope you can let Mr. Chuandao go, no matter the cost," Xingzi said, bowing earnestly in front of Chu Feng.
Chu Feng said, "I’ve already said, unless my worker comes back to life."
"Mr. Chu, is a worker really that important in your eyes? If you are willing to let Mr. Chuandao go, I can completely give up control of East River’s entertainment market to you. Or I can tell you about how your Huaxia National Security agents appeared in East River, and how they came to know about Mr. Chuandao’s affairs," Xingzi said.
Chu Feng shook his head and said, "Perhaps you still don’t understand up to now. That president might be very important in your eyes, but he’s not as important as my worker’s life in mine. As for National Security, I have no interest in knowing because I’ve already guessed. I have no demands, and we have nothing more to talk about."
Chu Feng got up, clearly ready to see the guest out.
Xingzi said, "Mr. Chu, your worker is very important to his family. But if his family were to disappear with him, wouldn’t they become less important?"
Chu Feng’s eyes turned icy as he said, "Are you threatening me? If a single hair is missing from his family, I will go to your Eastern homeland and make your whole family accompany him in death."
When Chu Feng said this, he used the pressure of his Xuan Level Late State to oppress Xingzi and her bodyguard so much that they couldn’t even lift their heads.
"Mr. Chu, I understand your point now, and so I will take my leave. I hope you can consider my advice carefully. After all, it is a win-win situation that benefits both you and me," Xingzi said before turning around and leaving Chu Feng’s villa.
After Xingzi had left, Chu Feng picked up the phone and dialed a number.
"You wanted to avenge your lady, right? Now’s your chance, protect the family at the address I will give you shortly. You will receive the ’interest’ you want," Chu Feng told the person on the phone.
"Thank you, Mr. Chu," a voice somewhat hoarse and low responded from the other end of the line.
"Miss, what do we do now?" Xingzi’s subordinate asked her.
A cold light flashed in Xingzi’s eyes as she said, "Deal with that worker’s family, make it look like an accident. Chuandao cannot die; we cannot sever our ties with the Chuandao family."
