Chapter 466: Chapter 0467: Forced Marriage
Chu Feng made his way back to He Zhen’s house and saw An Rongrong helping Lin Xue Mei, who had already prepared a table full of food.
"Everyone, don’t start eating yet, let’s all have some water first," Chu Feng said.
"Why drink water? We aren’t thirsty," An Rongrong replied.
Chu Feng then revealed everything to them without hiding any details.
Upon hearing this, He Zhen was so furious he almost smashed the table.
"These beasts, so cruel, they disregard the lives of the entire city’s people. Why didn’t I slaughter them all back in the day?" He Zhen was truly beside himself with rage.
Both Lin Xue Mei and An Rongrong were scared senseless upon hearing this.
Luckily, Chu Feng had discovered and dealt with it quickly. If Chu Feng had not discovered it in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
It could have potentially threatened the lives of more than ten million people in East River.
"Is Jianguo alright?" Lin Xue Mei was worried about the nation, but she was more concerned about her own son.
Chu Feng said, "Jianguo is alright now, but he still needs to oversee the situation, so he can’t come back yet."
"There’s no danger of a secondary infection for Jianguo, is there?" Lin Xue Mei asked worriedly.
"What’s there to fear about a secondary infection? He is the father figure of East River. If he’s not out there, then who will be?" He Zhen said.
Chu Feng smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, please be assured; this virus poses no danger of secondary infection. Once someone is infected and cured, they will develop immunity."
Upon hearing Chu Feng’s words, the weight lifted from Lin Xue Mei’s heart.
"Brother, you don’t need to be too angry. We will eventually catch those bastards. This has also been a learning experience for us to find out how to plug our security leaks," Chu Feng consoled He Zhen.
He Zhen said, "I’m just angry, those beasts deserve to die. Had I known, I wouldn’t have been soft-hearted on the battlefield back then."
"Brother, this matter might not necessarily be the work of the Elite Society. It could also be someone else," Chu Feng said.
"I also fought in the war supporting Korea, and I’ve killed plenty of Americans too," He Zhen said.
Lin Xue Mei said, "Enough about your past, everything’s fine now, let’s properly celebrate. You keep saying ’I’ in such a formal way, it’s scaring Rongrong."
He Zhen, feeling somewhat embarrassed by Lin Xue Mei’s words, said, "It’s just that I was too agitated, let’s eat."
An Rongrong smiled sweetly and said, "It’s okay, really. I never imagined Principal He could have such a bold side. I truly admire that."
For An Rongrong, calling He Zhen as elder brother, who was of her grandfather’s age, was indeed hard for her to say out loud.
He Zhen chuckled and said, "You think I don’t match with my current image because I’ve been spouting ’I’ everywhere, right? Back on the battlefield, I got used to it with my old partner, and now when I get agitated, I can’t help but revert."
An Rongrong quickly shook her head and said, "No, not at all. I just find it a bit hard to believe. In my mind, Principal He, you should be a refined scholar."
He Zhen laughed heartily and said, "Even scholars have temperaments. Let’s start eating before the food gets cold."
The four of them were midway through their meal when Jianguo finally returned, appearing travel-worn.
"Secretary He." Seeing Jianguo come back, An Rongrong also hurriedly stood up.
"Jianguo, this is your aunt, your uncle’s girlfriend, An Rongrong," He Zhen said.
"No! Please don’t! Secretary He, just call me by my name," An Rongrong quickly waved her hand and said.
Chu Feng looked at An Rongrong’s embarrassed face and laughed, "Jianguo, just call her Rongrong. This young lady doesn’t want anyone to think she’s in her fifties or sixties."
He Jianguo thought for a moment and said, "Then I will call her Miss An."
Chu Feng said, "Whatever, it’s just a title anyway. Is everything settled in Jianguo City?"
He Jianguo nodded and said, "Everything is arranged, the patients’ conditions have stabilized. Antidote has been added to the water, and I believe no one will be infected again. I also had the TV station make an announcement about this outbreak and, on behalf of the hospital, told everyone to drink more water."
Chu Feng said, "That’s good, hurry up and sit down to eat."
He Zhen said, "Once again you owe your uncle, why don’t you toast him?"
He Jianguo picked up a teacup and said, "Uncle, I have to go back to work this afternoon, so I’ll use tea instead of alcohol to toast you. Thank you so much this time, uncle."
Chu Feng and He Jianguo clinked cups and then downed them.
Lin Xue Mei complained, "All you ever think about is work, work. Look at you, you’re in your forties and still don’t have a wife. Your uncle has even brought his girlfriend to offer us New Year’s greetings. When will we be able to hold our grandson? If you don’t find someone soon, I am going to decide for you."
He Jianguo’s face turned red, feeling embarrassed, and said, "Mom, let’s not rush this. Let me stabilize my job first."
"I’ve been hearing you say that for over ten years. You are already the City Party Secretary, when will your job be stable then? Are you going to wait until you retire, or until dad and I are dead, for it to be stable?" Lin Xue Mei said, somewhat displeased.
Chu Feng carefully looked at He Jianguo’s face and said, "Sister-in-law, you really don’t need to rush this matter; Jianguo truly didn’t have suitable marital prospects before. However, his marital prospects are about to appear soon, so don’t worry."
Chu Feng had just seen a red halo in He Jianguo’s marriage palace, clearly indicating that a marital connection was imminent, a sign of joyful tidings.
"Brother Chu, are you serious?" Lin Xue Mei perked up immediately upon hearing Chu Feng’s words.
Chu Feng nodded and said, "I am ninety percent sure."
Actually, it was just Chu Feng being modest; with his current cultivation and face reading skills, he was completely certain.
"Great! That’s fantastic, I’ll finally be able to hold a grandson," Lin Xue Mei said excitedly.
Chu Feng said, "Sister-in-law, you might even have trouble handling it. Both you and Brother He have faces that predict many grandchildren. Jianguo might just bring you two at once, keeping you busy beyond belief."
Lin Xue Mei’s eyes brightened even more, and she said, "Really? Could there be twins?"
But before Chu Feng could answer, Lin Xue Mei answered herself, "Actually, that’s likely possible, Jianguo’s aunt was a twin. Our He Family really has the twins gene."
He Jianguo, a man in his forties, felt a bit embarrassed as he listened to his mother and Chu Feng, who was much younger than him, discussing his marriage and children.
Seeing this, He Zhen said, "What’s there to be embarrassed about? Brother Chu is your elder, and it’s right for elders to concern themselves with your marriage. But, considering your age, you really should start paying attention to your personal issues."
Although He Zhen didn’t say it out loud, he was actually anxious too.
"Yes, dad, mom, uncle, I will take it to heart," He Jianguo said, his face turning crimson.
An Rongrong, watching from the side, also felt some curiosity. One was a legendary elder, the other the current City Party Secretary of East River, and both had such a close relationship with Chu Feng.
