Chapter 453: Chapter 0454 Never Thought of Compromise [Part 1]
Pei Wending heard Chu Feng’s words and was also somewhat embarrassed. However, in the end, he still stood on Chu Feng’s side. Pei Wending said, "I will try to delay the two of them. After you get the information you want, I will send someone to pick them up."
Chu Feng said, "Thank you, Brother Pei. I will try to speed things up."
Right after Chu Feng hung up the phone, Huang Lan called.
Chu Feng answered the phone and heard Huang Lan’s voice. She said, "How did you get involved with National Security? Do you need my help? But if I help, there are conditions. I help you this time, next time we meet, it’s my turn to spank you."
Chu Feng said, "No need. I can handle it myself."
Huang Lan said, "During the New Year, just don’t kill anyone. Crippling them is enough."
The relationship between National Security and Dragon Soul had always been strained, as both believed they should replace the other. The two had always been in competition, but Dragon Soul’s overall strength was still greater than National Security’s, so although National Security wanted to replace Dragon Soul, they never had the chance.
Chu Feng said, "I’m not interested in being Dragon Soul’s unpaid thug. If you want to discipline them, handle it yourselves. I have my own matters to attend to right now."
Huang Lan said, "Don’t hang up. Once you find out who is directing things from behind the scenes, don’t forget to let me know. National Security has been suppressing us Dragon Soul recently; it’s time for us to strike back."
Chu Feng said, "What’s in it for me?"
Huang Lan said, "There’s no real benefit, but if you don’t cooperate, I might consider going to East River for the New Year. I hear your house is quite chaotic right now, five beauties living in one place. Add me, and the six of us can play two tables of ’Fight the Landlord.’ Don’t you think that would be a harmonious scene?"
Chu Feng clenched his teeth and said, "You win."
Huang Lan laughed gleefully and then triumphantly hung up the phone.
After the call ended, Chu Feng looked at Brother Chicken and said, "You’ve had enough time to think. Speak up, will you?"
Although Brother Chicken hadn’t heard the entire phone call, he knew someone was trying to save him. He decided to clamp down and not open his mouth.
"I know nothing, just hand me over to the police," Brother Chicken, with a stiff neck, declared.
Chu Feng gave a cold laugh and said, "Do you think they really want to save you? Do you think you can still live if I hand you over to them? I can tell you, the people asking for you are from National Security. I’m not exaggerating; if I hand you over, they can easily label you with a national security threat and silently dispose of you."
Brother Chicken’s face changed upon hearing Chu Feng’s words, and his heart started thumping hard.
He intuitively felt that what Chu Feng said was probably true since the person who assigned him the task seemed very powerful.
However, logically, Brother Chicken still found it hard to believe. He didn’t think Chu Feng could stir such high-level figures just by doing something trivial.
"Stop trying to scare me; I’m not going to fall for it. Just hand me over to the police, whether I live or die, I’ll take responsibility," Brother Chicken, gritting his teeth, said.
Chu Feng said, "With those words, I’m reassured. Tong Hu, come in."
Chu Feng shouted towards the door.
Tong Hu entered and asked, "Brother Feng, what are your orders?"
Chu Feng said, "He’s all yours. I want you to pry his mouth open. He said he’s responsible for his own life and death. So, don’t hold back too much."
Pausing for a moment, Chu Feng picked up a ceramic cup in front of him, and gently rubbed it between his hands, saying, "If you can, turn his bones into this."
Brother Chicken watched the ceramic cup turn into a pile of fine powder, his eyes bulging. His body involuntarily shivered. If Tong Hu really turned his bones into that, could he still live?
Tong Hu, with a troubled look, said, "Brother Feng, turning it into such fine powder might be difficult. A bit coarser or maybe in pieces—would that be okay? I really don’t have your skill."
Brother Chicken, hearing Tong Hu’s words, was scared stiff, and he began screaming frantically, "This is illegal; I’m going to the police to report you!"
Chu Feng gave a cold laugh and said, "You still know this is illegal? Look clearly at what is written here. There’s not even a name on this document. I wouldn’t mind if you were the first."
Chu Feng threw his Dragon Soul identification card in front of Brother Chicken.
Brother Chicken, upon seeing the Dragon Soul ID, knew instantly it was real, not a fake.
Having once forged IDs himself, Brother Chicken knew he couldn’t reproduce such an authentic-looking document even with the original in his hands.
Truly terrified, Brother Chicken regretted deeply. If he had known it would turn out like this, not for fifty thousand, not for a million, not even for a hundred million or a billion, would he have taken this job.
"Give me five minutes to think it over, can I?" Brother Chicken pleaded tremulously.
Chu Feng said, "You’re quite a high-IQ rogue to be stalling for time. But my IQ isn’t so low either; I disagree. Either you speak now, or you’ll forever hold your peace."
Brother Chicken didn’t expect Chu Feng to see through him so quickly, and his face turned completely ashen.
"My patience is limited. Wasting time like this will make me lose my patience too. I’ll give you three seconds to speak now, or I’ll have someone take you away," Chu Feng said, then started counting.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"I’ll talk!" Before Chu Feng could finish counting, Brother Chicken gave up his last resistance and hope and chose to cooperate.
"It was an Eastern person who asked for my help. He gave me fifty thousand to do this. He said that as long as I did it, even if I got caught, he could ensure my safety," Brother Chicken spilled everything he knew.
"An Eastern person?" Chu Feng pondered, then his expression eased.
"I should have guessed it was them," Chu Feng murmured to himself.
"Do you remember what that Eastern person looked like?" Chu Feng asked.
Brother Chicken hurriedly nodded and said, "I remember. And I even had someone follow him. He seems to be the president of the Eastern Commerce in East River and also owns an electronics factory."
Chu Feng didn’t expect Brother Chicken to be so clever; this actually saved Chu Feng quite some trouble.
"Is it Daiwa Electronics?" Ning Xiaoman suddenly asked.
