After Chu Feng hung up the phone, Ning Xiaoman asked, "Who was that?"

Chu Feng replied, "The director of the City Public Security Bureau, Pei Wending. An incident of this magnitude at the construction site couldn’t have gone unnoticed by him. However, we can investigate this matter on our own."

Ning Xiaoman looked at Chu Feng, feeling increasingly in awe of how miraculous he was.

Chu Feng nodded and replied, "Good."

Ning Xiaoman glanced at the time and said, "It’s already evening, and they haven’t come back yet. They surely haven’t all left, have they?"

Chu Feng shared the same concern, but he still harboured a glimmer of hope because their tickets had been purchased collectively by the group. Chu Feng’s spirits lifted at Tang Min’s words, and then he said, "Have finance settle their accounts. Once they leave finance, get Tong Hu to bring them over according to the plan."

"I’ve already spoken to Tong Hu and the others," said Tang Min.

Chu Feng nodded and said, "It’s good that they’ve come back. I’ve handed out such big red envelopes to my workers. If I don’t get them to give me an even bigger red envelope, it wouldn’t feel like celebrating the New Year."

Suddenly, Chu Feng thought of something and asked, "Have we tallied how much money we’ve distributed in total?"

Tang Min replied, "We’ve tallied it. Today, we’ve distributed a total of 5.62 million to the workers. Compensation for the injured and deceased hasn’t been included in this."

Chu Feng was momentarily stunned, then asked, "Over a thousand people, it can’t be this little, right?"

Tang Min replied, "This figure is more than what we had initially estimated."

Chu Feng demanded, "Give me a grand total."

Secretary Tang replied, "Today, in total, we’ve distributed 10.82 million."

Chu Feng nodded and said, "Later, issue an invoice for me without filling in the header; I’ll have them fill it in themselves. Whether they want to list it as stationery or a bathhouse, I’m not going to be the sucker in any case."

Tang Min agreed and went to prepare the invoice.

After Tang Min left, Ning Xiaoman then asked, "Do you know who was behind it?"

Chu Feng shook his head and said, "I don’t know right now, but I think I’ll find out soon enough."

Ning Xiaoman, seeing Chu Feng’s composed demeanor, remarked, "Are you really that confident you’ll find out who did it?"

Chu Feng replied, "Actually, you should be asking if I really have the confidence to get the money back."

Ning Xiaoman rolled her eyes and said, "With a rogue like you, getting the money definitely isn’t a problem."

Chu Feng laughed and said, "I didn’t realize you understood me so well."

Just as Ning Xiaoman was about to speak, Liu Mei’s brows furrowed again.

Chu Feng, noticing Ning Xiaoman’s furrowed brows, said, "I know a few scar removal remedies. I’ll mix one for you in a couple of days; you shouldn’t have any scarring."

Ning Xiaoman’s eyes lit up at Chu Feng’s words and she asked, "Really?"

Chu Feng replied, "Do I need to lie about this? Don’t worry, this ’Unverified Doctor’ actually has a couple of skills."

Ning Xiaoman asked, "Can your medicine be mass-produced?"

Chu Feng thought for a moment and said, "It should be possible. What do you have in mind?"

Ning Xiaoman replied, "Among the land we plan to purchase, there is an abandoned pharmaceutical factory. It used to be state-owned, and I was worried about what to do with it once we bought it. But now, it seems there’s a possibility. If your medicine really works well, then we’ve found another way to make money. Plus, the market for cosmetic products is the widest..."

Chu Feng scratched his head and said, "Why are you so into money? You link everything to money."

Ning Xiaoman pouted and retorted petulantly, "You’re the boss, you’re the major shareholder. I’m trying to think of ways to make you money, and you’re acting reluctant."

Watching Ning Xiaoman pout cutely, Chu Feng felt his mood brighten considerably.

Chu Feng said, "I’m trying to see which one is the real you?"

Soon enough, Tong Hu brought in three people, and in his hand was a burlap sack.

Tong Hu threw the burlap sack on the floor and cursed, "Brother Feng, these three jerks didn’t behave. They came to get their money but brought these tools with them. If one didn’t know any better, they’d think they were here to rob us."

The three workers were not that old. The eldest was only around thirty, and the other two were those young men in their twenties who had dropped out of school early to work.

Brought in by Tong Hu, they were shaking somewhat uncontrollably. After all, having done wrong, they couldn’t help feeling nervous.

Chu Feng, looking at the contents of the sack, became more convinced of their guilt.
