Chapter 404: Chapter 0405: For One Person

Chu Feng looked at the crowd staring at him and a rare hint of embarrassment appeared on his face as he said, "Looking at me like that, I might get cocky."

"Little Friend Chu, you are truly a prodigy on the gambling scene. If you are willing, I’d like to offer you a partnership in my company. You could even become the chairman," He Sheng said excitedly.

Chu Feng replied, "Elder He, I appreciate your kind offer, but I’m really not that into gambling. Besides, being good at gambling doesn’t mean I can manage a casino. I may be a bit arrogant, but I do understand these are two completely different concepts."

"At least you have some self-awareness," Xu Hui said mockingly.

Chu Feng looked at Xu Hui and said, "Big sister, have I offended you? Do you need to treat me like a mortal enemy?"

Xu Hui replied, "I just don’t like you. Satisfied with that answer?"

"..."

With that answer, Chu Feng couldn’t be anything but satisfied, mainly because he really didn’t have anything to refute.

"Everybody’s been worried about me all night, so how about I treat everyone to night snacks? I’m feeling a bit hungry myself," Chu Feng suggested.

After treating everyone to night snacks, Chu Feng also prepared to return to his own hotel room to sleep, getting ready for tomorrow’s final round.

Since his Cultivation was increasing too rapidly, Chu Feng decided to temporarily give up further Cultivation. He planned to live like a normal person for a few days, and after explaining the situation to his Master, he would make a decision.

As Chu Feng was about to enter his room, he looked up and saw Joseph standing opposite him.

"Mr. Chu from Huaxia, may I invite you for a drink?" Joseph asked.

Chu Feng responded, "Of course you may."

Chu Feng didn’t know why Joseph would seek him out, but since they were going to clash anyway, he didn’t mind meeting a bit earlier.

"Isn’t Mr. Chu going to invite me into your room for a drink?" Joseph suggested.

Chu Feng replied, "I don’t have the habit of letting men into my room in the middle of the night."

Joseph smiled and said, "Same here, I don’t like letting men into my room either. Let’s head to the upstairs bar then, and have that drink."

Gambling City is a true city that never sleeps; no matter the time, it is always bustling. At any time, it’s equally busy and prosperous.

Chu Feng and Joseph went to the upstairs bar and, after taking two drinks from the hands of a scantily clad Bunny Girl, they found a corner and sat down.

Joseph looked at Chu Feng and said, "Chu, aren’t you afraid that I’ve approached you to harm you, to keep you from participating in tomorrow’s competition? To be honest, I’m really concerned about you, because you are the only person I don’t understand. You pose the biggest threat to me. If I had to choose one opponent to eliminate, it would definitely be you."

Chu Feng replied, "Could you speak slower? My English isn’t as good as yours."

Joseph looked at Chu Feng, smiled and said, "Chu, you really are different. Alright, I’m willing to repeat what I just said. You are the first person who’s made me repeat myself."

After Joseph repeated himself, Chu Feng said, "I like drinking with honest people. Your willingness to tell me this proves this drink isn’t poisoned. I can drink it without worry."

"Chu, why would you suspect I’ve poisoned the drink?" Joseph asked, puzzled.

Chu Feng replied, "Simple, because this bar belongs to you."

Joseph looked at Chu Feng in surprise and asked, "Chu, how did you know that this bar belongs to me?"

Chu Feng chuckled and said, "Because the staff here all treat you with great respect. Take the Bunny Girl from earlier, for instance. She moved a little closer to you when you picked up your drink. I’d like to think I’m a tad handsomer than you, yet she didn’t gravitate towards me, but towards you. Clearly, you can offer her bigger benefits, but you didn’t tip her afterwards. Still, she was all smiles with you, so there can only be one reason for that—this bar is yours. By ingratiating herself with you, she’s likely to gain more than just tips."

After hearing Chu Feng’s explanation, Joseph shook his head with a wry smile and said, "Chu, now I regret not putting anything in your drink. You’re truly a daunting opponent. From a small detail, you’re able to infer so much."

Chu Feng downed his drink in one go and said, "But now it’s too late for you. As we say in Huaxia, there is no such thing as Regret Medicine in this world."

Joseph also drank his wine in one go, set down his glass, and smiled at Chu Feng, saying, "Even though I didn’t manage to poison you, I’m now certain why you came here this time."

Chu Feng’s heart skipped a beat, but he maintained his composure and said, "To win the competition?"

Joseph wagged a finger and said, "NO! NO! NO! You’re here for more than just the win. You’re representing the Huaxia Government, aiming for the documents in my possession."

Chu Feng, relieved, with a smile replied, "I am indeed here for those documents, but that’s not my main goal."

Joseph, curious at Chu Feng’s relaxed smile, asked, "Chu, then what is your main objective?"

Chu Feng answered, "That is my secret, my own secret. But you guessing that I’m here for your documents is enough for me."

Joseph nodded and said, "Yes, that’s enough for me. And I’m thrilled that Huaxia didn’t send some High Level spy but instead sent a skilled gambler. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about any documents. I’m only interested in the gambling table, and if you’ve got the skills, I’ll wager that file as the stake tomorrow."

Changing his tone, Joseph continued, "Of course, the premise is that you have the ability to win it from me."

Chu Feng replied, "I’ve come all this way to the finals for this very reason. I believe I can successfully win it from your hands."

Chu Feng hadn’t expected things to go smoother than he had anticipated. What he really hadn’t foreseen was that Joseph was a complete gambling addict—he had no interest in politics or military secrets. He was just tremendously interested in finding a worthy opponent.

"Chu, I’m still curious what your main reason for coming to the USA is. I swear in God’s name, I won’t tell a soul," Joseph promised earnestly.

Chu Feng didn’t expect the American’s curiosity to be so immense.

Chu Feng smiled and said, "For a person!"
