Chapter 40: Chapter 0040: The Events of That Year
A class passed by quickly, and before the students even started to move, the school’s broadcast came on.
Then came Ye Bingxin’s praise for Chu Feng, practically making him out to be a superhero.
Listening to the voice on the broadcast, Wu Di’s face darkened.
He then called Liu Tianming, but no matter how much he dialed, Liu Tianming’s phone was turned off, infuriating Wu Di so much that he smashed the phone to pieces.
"Chu Feng, since you want to fight with me, I’ll give you a proper fight!" muttered Wu Di to himself, his eyes glittering fiercely.
"Boss, you’re the real genius, just like that you turned into a big hero," Xiao Pang said with a cheeky smile as he turned his head.
Chu Feng said, "Go away! What do you mean ’just like that’? I was already a hero, alright?"
"Right! Boss, you were born with the look of a hero, but shouldn’t you treat us this weekend?" asked Xiao Pang.
Chu Feng glanced at An Rongrong and said, "I don’t have time this weekend."
Xiao Pang caught the hint immediately and said, "I get it! I get it! I’ll go home and play games by myself this weekend, and you and Sister-in-Law can have a nice date."
When An Rongrong heard Xiao Pang’s words, her pretty face blushed, but she didn’t refuse.
The day passed quickly, and Chu Feng left early as usual.
After arriving at Golden Cauldron, Chu Feng found Cui Jingyan and said, "Sister Yan, take this card as well. This was given to me by my master, and there is supposed to be quite a bit of money in it, so use it first."
Cui Jingyan’s eyes lit up with an unusual radiance upon seeing the black bank card in Chu Feng’s hand.
"This card was given to you by your master?" she asked.
Chu Feng nodded and said, "Yeah, don’t worry, I didn’t steal it. I know the PIN."
Cui Jingyan asked, "Do you know what this card is?"
Chu Feng replied, unpleased, "A bank card. Sister Yan, I might be a country bumpkin, but I still recognize a bank card."
Cui Jingyan glared at Chu Feng and said, "What do you know, there are many kinds of bank cards. And the one you have is of the highest level. It’s the Centurion Black Card, limited to a global release of only one thousand, not to mention it has no spending limit and by itself, it’s a symbol of status. Moreover, this card of yours is clearly not from a bank that partners with Huaxia, making it even rarer. It seems your master really is a major figure."
Actually, Cui Jingyan was only half right; Zhang Shisan’s card indeed was a Centurion Black Card and wasn’t issued by a partner bank. However, among the Centurion Black Cards, Zhang Shisan’s card had a renowned name: the Supreme Centurion Black Card, with only five in existence worldwide.
This was the card Zhang Shisan used during his time at Carefree Sect, but for him, who was used to seeing mountains of gold and silver, he never took a mere card to heart.
After Cui Jingyan’s long explanation, aside from learning that his card was rare, Chu Feng didn’t understand a word.
Nevertheless, his master indeed was someone important.
Chu Feng snorted and said, "Even if it’s a rare bank card, it’s not like the bank is going to give me extra money, right?"
Cui Jingyan gave Chu Feng a reproachful look and said, "You little country bumpkin, you don’t understand a thing."
Chu Feng said, "Sister Yan, as long as you understand. With this money, we shouldn’t need to worry for a year or two, right?"
Cui Jingyan didn’t take Chu Feng’s bank card, saying, "I don’t need the card for now. With your thirty million, we should be able to sustain for quite a long time. Plus, this is from your master. If he knew that you gave the card to me, he might not be pleased."
Chu Feng realized his oversight; if Zhang Shisan knew he’d given the card to Cui Jingyan, he might indeed be displeased, especially since Zhang Shisan was trying to match him with An Rongrong.
Chu Feng said, "Alright then. Whenever you need money, just let me know."
Cui Jingyan nodded and then pulled out the stock certificate, saying, "This is the stock ownership agreement I’ve drafted, take this copy and have your Sister-in-Law sign it. She will then be the biggest shareholder and chairman of Fengjing Entertainment Company."
Chu Feng thought for a moment and said, "Sister Yan. Let’s forget about the chairman position, I don’t think Sister-in-Law will want to do that. She doesn’t understand these things. You should do it yourself."
Cui Jingyan glared at Chu Feng and complained, "You heartless thing, you only care about your Sister Mei. Letting me toil and work all by myself, while your Sister Mei enjoys her comfortable life at home."
Chu Feng chuckled and said, "Sister Yan. I can give you a hug if you’re tired, but if Sister Mei is tired, I can’t hug her, can I?"
Cui Jingyan knew what Chu Feng was hinting at and bantered back, "I know very well what you’re up to. Qin Mei isn’t even officially your Sister-in-Law. If something really did happen between you two, nobody would say a word.
I think you just want to stay home and cuddle with your Sister Mei, living a cozy life, while having me, your little mistress, struggle outside for the both of you."
Chu Feng’s face turned red upon hearing Cui Jingyan’s words.
Cui Jingyan gave him a stern look, with her hands on her hips, she said, "You little pervert, is that really what you’re thinking? Before anything’s even happened between us, you’re already coveting what’s in the pot while eating from your bowl."
"Sister Yan, you’ve misunderstood—I didn’t," Chu Feng hurriedly explained.
Cui Jingyan snorted, "You’re nothing but a dirty little wolf. I really misjudged you in the past."
Chu Feng hung his head, listening to Cui Jingyan’s barrage of accusations, defenseless.
In the end, Chu Feng, holding the share certificate, fled back home as if escaping.
When Chu Feng got home, Qin Mei had just finished preparing dinner.
"Xiao Feng, you’re back so early today. Just in time for dinner," Qin Mei called out to Chu Feng.
Chu Feng nodded and then took a seat at the table, pondering how to discuss the company matters with his sister-in-law.
After much consideration, Chu Feng decided to come clean with the truth.
Seeing Chu Feng frowning all the while, Qin Mei said, "Xiao Feng, is something bothering you? Do you need money but are too embarrassed to ask me? I’ve told you before, that money is all yours."
Chu Feng felt moved by Qin Mei’s words, then took a deep breath and said, "Sister Mei, I have something I must confess to you, but you need to prepare yourself for it."
Qin Mei saw the seriousness in Chu Feng’s demeanor and immediately got worried, "Did you get into trouble, Xiao Feng?"
Chu Feng was startled by her question and then chuckled, "Sister Mei, can’t you hope for something good for me?"
Relieved by Chu Feng’s lighter tone, Qin Mei said, "You sounded so serious, how was I supposed to know what it was all about?"
Chu Feng said, "Sister Mei, what would you want to do if you became a multimillionaire?"
Qin Mei laughed, "If your sister-in-law became a multimillionaire, I’d save the money and do nothing at home."
Hearing this, Chu Feng’s eyes lit up, "Well then, Sister Mei, you should resign tomorrow and take a good rest at home from now on."
Qin Mei laughed, "You’re just pulling my leg. Unless you’ve won the lottery, where else would you get ten million from?"
Chu Feng took out the share certificate brochure and said, "Sister Mei, I didn’t win the lottery, nor do I have ten million. But I do have thirty million, and you just need to sign this now."
Qin Mei took the share certificate from Chu Feng, read through it carefully, and her pretty face showed a hint of shock; then it turned solemn.
"What’s all this about, Xiao Feng?" Qin Mei asked with a grave look.
Chu Feng didn’t hide anything and told Qin Mei everything from start to finish.
After hearing everything, Qin Mei lapsed into silence.
After a long moment, Qin Mei finally spoke, her tone serious, "I can’t sign this, Chu Feng. You earned this, and I can’t take it from you."
Chu Feng replied, "Sister Mei, compared to what you’ve done for me over these years, this is less than a tenth of it. To me, this is only a temporary way to repay you. I will give you more in the future."
Qin Mei was touched by Chu Feng’s words but still said, "Xiao Feng, listen to me..."
Chu Feng cut her off, "I don’t want to listen, Sister Mei. Unless you no longer want to live with me or take care of me, then you must sign this, or else I won’t come home."
Qin Mei sighed, "Are you forcing me, Xiao Feng?"
Chu Feng said with a grin, "I’m not forcing you, Sister Mei; I’m repaying you. Besides, Sister Mei, do you think I would care much about these thirty million when I made it so quickly? Plus, didn’t I just tell you? The money my master gave me is probably much more than this. Just sign it, or a handprint will do too."
Saying this, Chu Feng reached out to grab Qin Mei’s hand to make the handprint.
As soon as Chu Feng grabbed Qin Mei’s hand, Yin Origin entered his body.
And Qin Mei, being held by Chu Feng, felt an indescribable tingling that made her heart itch.
"I’ll sign. Now let go of me," Qin Mei said, her face flushing.
Chu Feng reluctantly let go of Qin Mei’s hand and watched as she finished signing.
After signing, Qin Mei said, "Chu Feng, I know you’re capable now, and I have a favor to ask of you."
Chu Feng puffed out his chest and said, "Don’t just mention one thing—even ten would be fine."
Qin Mei said, "Xiao Feng, I hope you can investigate your brother’s matter."
