Chapter 388: Chapter 0389 I Have Many Warnings for You
Tong Hu didn’t leave right away but said, "Boss, is President Cui alright now?"
Chu Feng replied, "She’s fine now. From now on, pay more attention. If someone comes looking for President Cui and you find them suspicious, report to me immediately."
With an exaggerated salute, Tong Hu said, "Don’t worry, boss. As long as any guy comes looking for President Cui, I’ll definitely interrogate him thoroughly and find out everything about his ancestors."
Chu Feng’s face turned red for a second, but he quickly slapped Tong Hu on the head and said, "What do you mean only men need to be checked? Women have to be checked too."
Tong Hu said, "Rest assured, we’ll check both men and women."
Chu Feng nodded and added, "Focus on the men, they pose a greater threat to President Cui."
"Yes! Mission guaranteed to be accomplished," Tong Hu affirmed.
Chu Feng said, "I’ve got some things to do, so I’m going back. If President Cui leaves, arrange for a few people to escort her."
"Don’t worry, boss, I’ve already arranged for it. The security team will accompany President Cui when it’s time," Tong Hu reassured him.
Chu Feng nodded and concluded, "Alright, get back to work."
Watching Chu Feng leave, Tong Hu turned to his underlings who approached and asked, "Boss, can we really start our own independent company in the future?"
"Could what the boss said be wrong?" Tong Hu replied confidently.
One of the underlings queried, "Does that mean, boss, that all of us could become middle-level managers?"
"As long as you all perform well, becoming middle-level managers is definitely possible," said Tong Hu.
Listening to Tong Hu’s words, all the underlings were ecstatic.
After all, they were just a bunch of small-time hoodlums before, living meal to meal. The outside world might see them as imposing, but only they knew their true situation.
"Boss, you’re truly wise. If we had chosen to follow Dong Wanliang back then, who knows, we might still be small-time, or just slightly better-off hoodlums."
Tong Hu boasted proudly, "How could your boss be anything less than wise?"
After a pause, Tong Hu added, "Starting tomorrow, you guys will be security guards by day and attend night school in the evening. Get serious about studying."
The underlings all pulled faces and complained, "Boss, if we could study, we wouldn’t have ended up like this."
Tong Hu slapped the head of the one who spoke up and chided, "You don’t understand a thing. The boss is giving us a chance, an opportunity to control our own destinies. We have to be worthy of that chance. You think the boss is running a charity? With your poor literacy, how could you manage as leaders? What will you do when someone asks for your signature—draw little birds on the document? With your current level of education, a few college graduates could easily outsmart you. Is that what you want?"
After hearing Tong Hu’s words, everyone nodded vigorously and said, "Boss is right. We didn’t see the point in studying before, but now we do. We’ll definitely study hard."
"That’s more like it," Tong Hu commended.
"But boss, with all of us being known to the police, will a night school even take us?" one of the underlings inquired.
That was indeed a problem, Tong Hu realized.
After pondering for a while, Tong Hu said, "Wait for me to escort President Cui back later, I’ll discuss this with the boss. See if the boss has any solutions."
"Boss, when we went in earlier, it seemed like President Cui was also poisoned. How did Boss Chu detoxify her?" an underling asked, gossiping.
Hearing this, Tong Hu also froze for a moment but quickly slapped the inquirer’s head and said, "Don’t ask what you shouldn’t, don’t talk about what you shouldn’t. The boss has his own ways."
"Yes, yes, Boss, we got it," the underlings quickly replied.
Chu Feng walked back home deep in thought, pondering what to do going forward. Acting irresponsibly was not something he could bring himself to do.
However, the situation could be considered accidental, but not entirely so. He clearly had the capability to save Cui Jingyan using other methods. Yet in the final moments, he chose to give up resistance.
Hence, no matter how you saw it, he was responsible. But how was he to explain things to An Rongrong? Could he really cite the "Jinghu World" of his master? That clearly wasn’t convincing.
After racking his brains for a long time without finding a good solution, Chu Feng had no choice but to mutter to himself, "Seems like for this matter, I can only take it one step at a time."
"Boss, you’re back. Is Sister Yan okay?" Before he realized it, Chu Feng had entered the house, and Fan Xiaoxiao and Fang Ting quickly surrounded him.
Coming to his senses, Chu Feng replied, "Sister Yan is fine; she’ll come back later."
Curiously, Fan Xiaoxiao probed, "Boss, why didn’t you come back with Sister Yan?"
An awkward look flashed across Chu Feng’s face, and after stammering a bit, he explained, "Well... Sister Yan still has some other work at the company and will return later."
Upon hearing that, Fan Xiaoxiao’s eyes flickered, and she immediately pressed on, "Tell me, what did you do to Sister Yan? Did you do something you shouldn’t have?"
Chu Feng, with a stern face, responded, "There’s nothing inappropriate going on. What are you thinking about?"
Fan Xiaoxiao insisted, "Then why did you answer so slowly just now?"
Chu Feng replied, "I was thinking about something else. Both of you stay put. I’m going to make a call to warn some people not to act recklessly."
After saying this, Chu Feng went back to his room.
Once in his room, Chu Feng dialed Xingzi’s number from memory.
The phone connected, and Xingzi’s voice came from the other end, "Mr. Chu, calling late at night, how may I assist you?"
Chu Feng responded coldly, "There’s nothing you can help me with, but I have many ways to deal with you."
Xingzi inquired, "What do you mean, Mr. Chu?"
Chu Feng said, "We’re all adults here; let’s not waste words. We both know where the medicine for Liu Chenyi came from. Such high-level medicine isn’t something he could obtain by himself."
The medicine was so domineering, also so high-level, yet mixed with an unknown poison—an indicator that Liu Chenyi certainly lacked the ability to acquire it on his own.
Especially that poison: if Chu Feng wasn’t also a skilled doctor, it would have been impossible to detect. It was a slow-acting poison that would have killed a person slowly over three days after intercourse, leaving no evidence, making it untraceable.
Fortunately, Chu Feng arrived just in time, and during the detoxification process with Cui Jingyan, he carelessly neutralized that poison as well. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
